Job Summary:
This position requires the candidate to have strong professional and managerial skills and have familiarity or be willing to become familiar with accounting for real estate related activities and the real estate investment and development industry. Candidate must have an interest in taking a lead role in developing and providing on-going improvement of financial office policies and processes.

Will identify & implement systems or processes to maximize internal efficiencies, shorten reporting deadlines, and maintain integrity and accuracy of financial data. Work with management to identify appropriate staffing levels in order to meet current objectives as well as anticipated growth of the company.

Will maximize return on financial assets by establishing and enforcing financial policies, procedures, controls, and reporting systems that meet both Nigerian generally accepted accounting principles and international best practices.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develops, analyses, and interprets accounting information in order to appraise operating results in terms of profitability, performance against budget, and other matters bearing on the fiscal soundness and operating effectiveness of the organization.
  • Responsible for supervising the preparation of quarterly and annual financial reports along with financial management reports such as cash flow projections, budgets and variance reports.
  • Responsible for monitoring expenditure and liquidity, reporting financial performance to the board, and providing timely financial data to the COO and CEO.
  • Responsible for interacting with lenders relative to administration of loans and making provisions for adequate operational funds.
  • Supervise and train an entry level accountant and lead overall accounting, reporting, and controller functions including accounts payables / receivables, setting up and keeping books for multiple real estate development special purpose vehicles (SPVs).

Personality Synopsis:

  • Ability to perform a volume of numerical detail work with speed and accuracy.

Skill & Knowledge Requirements:

  • Sound knowledge of accounting principles, practices, and procedures on manual and automated systems.
  • Bachelor’s or higher national diploma degree in accounting
  • Chartered accountant
  • 6 – 10 years of progressive, hands on experience
  • Expertise in financial operations and understanding of the vital components of cash flow management as well as corporate finance
  • Ability to form strong & effective professional relationships, both internally and externally
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Real estate or investment industry experience is a very strong plus.

Education & Experience Required:

  • B.Sc/HND in Accounting/Finance., 2nd class upper
  • 6 – 10 years of progressive, hands on experience
