The Federal Civil Service Commission of Nigeria invites applications from suitably qualified candidates for recruitment into various engineering vacant positions in the Spectrum Management Department of the Federal Ministry of Information and Communications (FMIC).

A few vacant positions exist for:
1. Chief Engineers
2. Assistant Chief Engineers
3. Principal Engineers

Responsibilities & Duties:
Chief Engineer (Electrical/Electronics/Telecommunications)

The Chief Engineer reports directly to the Assistant Director; amongst other functions he/she shall be responsible for:
• Assisting in drafting and modifying of spectrum management regulations.
• Taking charge of a unit under a specific division of the spectrum management department.
• Co-ordinating the activities of spectrum licensing and service providers.
• Taking charge of technical inspection of applications for spectrum license and statutory notices for license renewal.
• Taking charge of administration of contracts and processing of tender reports
• Performing such other functions as may be delegated from time to time.

Assistant Chief (Electrical/Electronics/Telecommunications)

The Assistant Chief Engineer reports directly to the Chief Engineer, amongst other functions he/she shall be responsible for:
• Preparing the recurrent estimates for the Department;
• Taking charge of inspectorate matters and carrying out the inspection and certification of installations;
• Preparing codes and standards of practice;
• Revising and improving on existing designs and assisting in drafting spectrum license regulations.
• Assisting in formulating and executing the training programmes of staff of the Department;
• Participating in the issuance of statutory approval for extension of network.
• Co-ordinating the activities of subordinate officers;
• Advising on technical issues of spectrum management
• Performing such other functions as may from time to time be assigned.

Principal Engineer (Electrical/Electronics/Telecommunications)

The Principal Engineer reports directly to the Assistant Chief Engineer; amongst other functions he/she shall have responsibility for:
• Supervising/inspecting all major spectrum usage installations and preparing independent report for management;
• Participating in statutory approval of licenses;
• Investigating contraventions of regulations and maintaining close liaison with licensees;
• Carrying out key functions in project design and implementation:
• Preparing tender reports;
• Issuing renewal extension to operators;
• Performing such other functions as may be assigned from time to time.

Qualifications and Experience:

Chief Engineer
• B.Eng., B.Sc. degree or its equivalent in Electrical Electronics, or Telecommunications
• Engineering with computer skill and not less than fifteen (15) years cognate experience.
• Must be a registered member of the Nigeria Society of Engineers (NSE) and Council for Regulation of Engineers in Nigeria (COREN).

Assistant Chief Engineers (Electrical/Electronics/Telecommunications)
• B.Eng., B.Sc. degree or its equivalent in Electrical Electronics, or Telecommunications Engineering with computer skill and not less than twelve (12) years cognate experience.
• Must be a registered member of the Nigeria Society of Engineers (NSE) and Council for Regulation of Engineers in Nigeria (COREN).

Principal Engineer, (Electrical/Electronics/Telecommunications)}

• B.Eng., B.Sc. degree or its equivalent in Electrical Electronics, or Telecommunications Engineering with computer skill and not less than nine (9) years cognate experience.
• Must be a registered member of the Nigeria Society of Engineers (NSE) and Council for Regulation of Engineers in Nigeria (COREN).

Remuneration:
• The remuneration and other conditions of service are as applicable to the respective positions in the Federal Ministry of Information and Communication and as may be determined from time to time by the Federal Government of Nigeria.
• In accordance with the provisions of the Public Service Rules and Regulations, the successful candidates shall hold office up to the compulsory retirement age of 60 years or 35 years of service whichever comes first.
• Fringe benefits include a pension scheme in consonance with the contributory pension scheme and allowance as may be approved from time to time by the Federal Government.
