The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), is currently seeking applications from suitable candidates to fill the following vacant positions below:

Job Title: Radio Operator
Location: Port Harcourt, Rivers

Main Responsibilities

  • Independently operates all radio and satellite equipment for voice and data communication
  • Independently facilitates radio and telecommunication contacts and permanent field follow-up according to internal guidelines
  • Selects most efficient mean of communication (inside and outside ICRC), taking in account format electronic or paper), speed and price
  • Operates all machines for Voice (Tel, VHF, HF) and satellite telephone and maintains daily radio and operations in the field mobile log
  • Acts quickly in the event of an emergency and contact relevant managements to contain and help solve critical incidents maintain a detailed incident log for security reports
  • Registers and treats incoming and outgoing information confidentially, rapidly and with accuracy

Required Qualifications

  • Secondary education
  • Diploma in ICT or Electronic, additional vocational training in Electronics, Telecommunication, IT or similar field will be an asset
  • Experience in communications/Radio operations within NGO’s or similar function preferably with an international organization
  • Very good command of written and spoken English.
  • Very good knowledge of Windows based computers
  • Good knowledge of radio (HF & VHF) technology and satellite communication
  • Excellent knowledge of the geographically assigned environment
  • No prior criminal conviction

Job Title: Mechanic
Location:
Maiduguri

Main Responsibilities

  • Maximizes fleet efficiency and effectiveness for all vehicles and generators through planned preventative maintenance in accordance with guidelines issued from Geneva or in accordance with manufacturer’s recommendations as well as in view of operational requirements.
  • Repairs and maintains ICRC Vehicles and generators according to workload planning and instructions.
  • Controls and ensures the use of genuine spare parts and professional working methods for all repairs.
  • Establishes and maintain an accurate and Job card based maintenance history for all log/Fleet assets repairs.
  • Fills in all accidents, services and repairs in technical logbook
  • Stocks In liaison with ABJ workshop and prepares order for spares for six month consumption for Maiduguri fleet.
  • Carries out routine works mainly independently

Required Qualifications

  • Degree in Mechanics or recognised technical training
  • 2 years work experience as a mechanic
  • Good command of written and spoken English
  • Driving license
  • Succeeded in ICRC Driving test.

Job Title: Economic Security (EcoSec) Field Officer
Location: PortHarcourt, Rivers

Main Responsibilities

  • Contributes to the implementation and running of specific projects/programs
  • Maintains contacts with interlocutors/authorities at various degrees
  • Supervises volunteers  and closely monitors beneficiaries
  • Contributes to written reporting
  • Ensures an independent and professional evaluation of EcoSec activities such as Micro-Economic Initiatives, relief distributions (Food, EHI and Supplementary Feeding), nutrition, markets and trends (past and present) particularly in Satellite LGAs and Priority zones set by the Sub-Delegation
  • Facilitates in preparation and delivery of Relief Assistance (mainly food, EHI, cash and Agro in–puts) in close collaboration with NRCS
  • Facilitates community consultation, meetings, training, demonstration activities, village mapping, community action plan and capacity building of the community.

Required Qualifications

  • University degree in development studies, economics, agriculture or related field
  • 4 years work experience in a similar field
  • Fluent in written and spoken English
  • Team leadership skills
  • Good knowledge of geographically assigned environment

Job Title: Polyvalent Field Officer
Location: 
Biu

Main Responsibilities

  • Acts as an adviser, contributor, performer and supporter to the Management in Biu in close coordination and under the direct supervision of the Head of Office (HoO)
  • Supports the Head of Office with security management, conflict analysis, networking with key interlocutors, mapping of stakeholders and identifying humanitarian needs in line with ICRC’s mandate and operational priorities in Nigeria
  • Identifies and follows up on protection concerns in Biu Area of Responsibility (AoR) under the supervision of the HoO
  • Represents the ICRC properly with different levels of interlocutors and maintains a respectful attitude towards beneficiaries, interlocutors and colleagues
  • Conducts protection assessments as per needs in Biu AoR and ensures timely reporting
  • Follows up on premises and perimeter security

Required Qualifications

  • University degree preferably in Social Sciences
  • Background in security services an asset (the interested should hold a senior officer rank)
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in positions with public outreach or security management
  • Excellent knowledge of the political, security and socio-cultural/religious dynamics of southern Borno (Biu Office AoR)
  • Existing network with key players of at least one of the mentioned layers (politics, security, religious circles, society)
  • Advanced analytical skills, especially on political, security and social dynamics of Biu Office AoR but also regional perspective
  • Good communication skills with good knowledge of written and oral English and advanced reporting skills (written reports). Good command of Hausa. Knowledge of Kanuri an asset.
  • Advanced computer skills a must (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Experience in security management an asset
  • Former work with a humanitarian organisation or NGO/CSO an asset

Job Title: Health Field Officer (Nutritionist)
Location: Yola

Main Responsibilities

  • Serves as the focal point for all matters related to the ICRC supported Nutrition component in primary health care program in his/her area of responsibility
  • Monitors the achievement of the objectives and the related Plan of Action
  • Builds up the capacity of the Primary Health Care Centres (PHCC) staff to run this component and monitors its efficiency and effectiveness
  • Contributes to assessment, planning, implementation, monitoring, supervision and evaluation of nutrition program
  • Contributes to continuous assessment and monitoring of Nutrition situation in area of responsibility
  • Liaises and attends regular meetings with the relevant ward development committee for follow up, flow of communication and instilling ownership and capacity to the committee
  • Monitors and analyses consumption and any inconsistencies in stock, reporting back to the Nutrition Delegate
  • Manages emergency medical stock together with Health Delegate

Required Qualifications

  • Nurse or Nutritionist registered with the Nursing council of Nigeria
  • 4 years’ work experience in a similar position
  • At least 3 years work experience in public health nutrition
  • Good knowledge of public health, and of local health services, staff and system
  • Excellent knowledge of written and spoken English
  • Very good computer skills, including spreadsheets
  • Good knowledge of the Ministry of Health and Medical Nutrition programs in Nigeria
