Diageo on behalf of Guiness Nigeria Plc now recruits a Performance Manager who reports to:
Category Manager – Demand, Guinness Nigeria Plc

Context/Scope:
As Guinness Nigeria plc undertakes the journey towards D2011, the Procurement Function within GN is clearly recognised as being a key enabler for our Company to achieve its Mission to become the most celebrated business in Nigeria. To successfully deliver the requisite step-change level of Functional performance expected by the wider business, Procurement now requires significant up-skilling using best local (both internal and externally-recruited) talent and expertise, with a targeted-objective to be benchmarked on a par with peers across Diageo Europe/North America within the next two years (currently ranked best in Africa Region).

The post-holder will be expected to significantly input and contribute to the GN Procurement Functional journey to D2011. The role has responsibility for supporting the implementation of best-in-class Category strategies across the entire above the line category portfolio including Media, Advertising and creative agencies, via managing the supplier performance/development management process within the Demand category to successfully deliver our targeted business benefits of quality, service, value and innovation, brilliantly executed.

Leadership Responsibilities

  • Using the LOOP, create and develop, and recommend Supplier performance management strategic options, across geographical and business cultural boundaries, and working with dispersed teams (both Nigeria and London-based) to finalise, agree, and implement supplier development strategies in the defined categories.
  • The role will require the appointee to quickly build up a network and influence key senior stakeholders both within Procurement and outside the Function (esp. with marketing and includes significant personal participation in major business initiatives, and X-Functional project teams on an ongoing basis.

Purpose of Role:
Responsible for the excellent execution/implementation of category strategies that clearly deliver our Procurement Functional Value agenda of Assure, Protect and Create for all areas of above the line, media management and sponsorship.

  1. The role will be based in Lagos with occasional requirements for national travel.
    Accountabilities:
  2. This role will be accountable for best-in-class Supplier Performance Management processes in Guinness Nigeria that support the delivery of Procurement’s functional Mission Statement of Assure, Protect, Create.
  3. Responsible for Supplier development, Contract management, Competitive-bidding analysis, use of Procurement tools (THE LOOP) to improve supplier performance + participate in negotiations.
  4. Support the Implementation of designated key projects through effective project management, utilising appropriate e-procurement tools to maximise speed, efficiency and drive of benefits e.g. e-RFI’s e-RFP’s, e-auctions, spend analysis.

Media Planning & Buying
– Develop media briefs and channel plans
– Efficient management of media budget and agencies

Programming & Barter Deals

Agency Management

External Relations/Industry Representation

Jointly represent GN Plc in Advertisers’ body AAPN, NIPR, OAAN, LASAA etc.

Qualifications and Experience Required

  • Relevant Degree and demonstrable ability to learn and develop.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years commercial experience, Specialist Media Planning & Buying experience gained in a “blue chip” organization.
  • Minimum of 3 years Procurement experience is essential covering all procurement imperatives (quality, service, cost, risk, growth support, innovation).
  • Analytical and numerical skills.
  • Ability to take commercial insights and translate into Media Planning & Buying opportunities.
