We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: FSL Officer-Agro
Location:
 Monguno, Borno
Job Summary

  • The position is based in Monguno, Borno State and supervised by the Sector Manager-FSL.
  • The FSL Officer will directly supervise the field team in implementing farmers field school, kitchen garden and cash/asset for work activities in the program through participatory selection of vulnerable beneficiaries, cash transfer to selected beneficiaries, follow up and monitoring.
  • The aim is to achieve the specific objective of EU project is to improve nutrition security of conflict affected populations through uptake of critical household health and hygiene behaviors with the aim of providing primary health care, water, livelihoods sources, sanitation and hygiene services.

Task and Responsibilities

  • Facilitate community mobilization towards farmers’ field school and small holders gardening.
  • Work with traditional committees to ensure the identification and selection of the most vulnerable beneficiaries for cash/asset for work.
  • Support in the implementation of capacity building training including field training and workshops for the target beneficiaries on vegetable production, seed conservation, farm management and storage.
  • Supervise and compile information to ensure that the surveillance of the farming situation in the area of implementation of the program is achieving the expected result, when required.
  • Support the M&E team in analysis of beneficiary data collection through the various tools.
  • Contribute to the development of project community mobilisation strategies for targeting and registration of beneficiaries for the agricultural production activities.
  • Implement field activities for targeted communities about agricultural activities and strengthening nutrition sensitive agriculture with support from relevant State, LGA and community stakeholders at LGA level.
  • Collate information and data on agricultural activities through surveys, assessments, regular post distribution monitoring and field supervision visits of beneficiary households.
  • Collaboration with other partners including relevant stakeholders.
  • Participate in writing situation reports with information on food security, security information at the community when required.

Position Requirements

  • Degree in Agronomy, Agriculture or any other related fields.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ relevant work experience in humanitarian contexts with at least 1 year in conflict/insecure contexts.
  • Have previous experience managing FSL interventions (i.e. cash based transfer, IGA, agriculture/livelihoods).
  • Have excellent team, budget and project management and representation competencies.
  • Strong computer literacy, organizational and report writing.
  • Be committed to upholding Action Against Hunger’s values, excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to adapt and be flexible.
  • Capacity to analyze and resolve problems including taking appropriate action.
  • Ability to share information in a clear and concise manner.
  • Ability to define goals, realistic and specific objectives.
  • Capacity to establish priorities in order to achieve expected results.
  • Excellent Microsoft Office Skills (Outlook, Excel, Power Point, Word).
  • Willing and able to be based and travel regularly within remote areas, where services are limited.
  • Fluency in English and Hausa.

Job Title: FSL Officer – Household Economic Strengthening

Job Summary

  • The position is based in Monguno, Borno State and supervised by the Sector Manager-FSL. The FSL Officer is responsible for supporting the implementation of income generating activities and household economic strengthening under the FSL component of the EU project.
  • The aim is to achieve the specific objective of EU project is to improve nutrition security of conflict affected populations through uptake of critical household health and hygiene behaviors with the aim of providing primary health care, water, livelihoods sources, sanitation and hygiene services.

Task and Responsibilities

  • Facilitate community mobilization towards economic activities.
  • Support in the implementation of capacity building training including business management, book keeping, market linkage and profit maximization for the target beneficiaries at the LGA level.
  • Contribute to developing and implementing detailed work plan for FSL team at LGA level activities in collaboration with FSL Assistant.
  • Collate information and data on economic strengthening activities at LGA level through surveys, assessments, regular post distribution monitoring and field supervision visits of beneficiary households
  • Support M&E team in activities monitoring (beneficiary targeting, identification, registration and training; market and livelihood assessments; baseline and endline surveys, post distribution monitoring, price monitoring, field monitoring visits, focused group discussions (FGD), etc)
  • Contribute to the development of tools to monitor and improve the quality of FSL Economic Strengthening programming.
  • Participate in writing situation reports with information on food security, security information at the community when required.
  • Mobilization and awareness raising about the organization, economic Strengthening objectives and activities to local authorities and the population, and act as a link between the Organization and the beneficiaries at the local level.

Job Title: WASH Assistant – Sanitation Marketing

Job Summary

  • The position is based in Monguno, Borno State and will be directly supervised by the WASH Officer- Sanitation Marketing. The WASH Assistant supports the WASH Officer in conducting research study on sanitation marketing.

Task and Responsibilities

  • Build relationship with stakeholders and assist the WASH Officer in training communities volunteers and local artisans.
  • Assist in the implementation of Community Led Total Sanitation (CLTS) in the various communities in relation to sanitation marketing to eliminate open defecation.
  • Collaborate with community mobilizers in the implementation of behavioural change communication strategy in relation to sanitation marketing.
  • Assist and provide technical support to the artisans in the construction of subsidized household’s latrines with high quality materials.
  • Participate in subsidized sanitation infrastructure distribution.

Position Requirements

  • Minimum of National diploma in health, social science or sanitation field with 1 experience in a related field.
  • Previous experience in CLTS and sanitation marketing.
  • Capacity to be adaptable and flexible.
  • Fluency in Hausa and English.
  • Commitment to Action Against Hunger values and principles.

Job Title: WASH Officer-Capacity Building
Location:

Job Summary

The position is based in Monguno, Borno State and directly supervised by the Sector Manager-WASH.

  • The WASH Officer is responsible for developing and building the process of strengthening the capacity within the community in order to increase the effectiveness,social impact and achieve the program goals and sustainability.

Task and Responsibilities

  • Assess the needs of stakeholders on capacity building.
  • Training of relevant stakeholders on WASH governance study and recommendations.
  • Build capacity of staff at State and LGA level and advocate for improvement in WASH policies.
  • Develop training plan for stakeholders  according to the finding  RSCA and WASH.
  • Capacity building of WASH unit on the various hygiene and sanitation approaches for sustainability.
  • In collaboration with the European Union project team develop coherent messages based on Action Against Hunger mandate, program objectives and approach.

Position Requirements

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree/HND in Public Health, Social Science and other related fields.
  • Minimum of 1 year relevant working experience within the humanitarian sector.
  • Willing and able to be based and travel regularly within remote areas, where services are limited
  • Fluency in Hausa and English.
  • Capacity to be adaptable and flexible.
  • Commitment to Action Against Hunger mission, values and policy.
  • Good knowledge of the intervention area/s and local economy.
