AIDS Healthcare Foundation (AHF) is an international not for profit NGO, with its Headquarters based in Los Angeles, California. AIDS Healthcare Foundation is registered in Nigeria as Foundation for AIDS Care Prevention and Advocacy but collectively referred to as AHF Nigeria. AHF Nigeria works in collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Health to provide free HIV/AIDS services; HIV prevention and treatment (ART), capacity building and advocacy in resource constrained settings.

Job Title:
 Laboratory Service Manager
Location: 
Abuja
Reports to: Country Program Director

Job Summary

  • To provide laboratory oversight in all AHF sites and ensures adherence to standard laboratory protocols in the country program. Coordinates training, support supervision, mentorship, team building exercises for all laboratory staff in the country program.
  • Directly supervises laboratory scientists/technicians and other lab staff in running the Partec CD4, hematology and chemistry machines.
  • Ensures that high quality of laboratory services is maintaining all AHF supported healthcare centers in the country program.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Coordinates planning, overseeing and supervising activities for the laboratory function for all sites;
  • Coordinates and ensures the performance of basic laboratory assays CD4 tests, Heamatology and Chemistry as well as other tests as required at all AHF Sites;
  • Coordinates the development and replication of the AHF Nigeria laboratory protocols and practices at all AHF healthcare centers; promoting quality of services based on timeliness in reporting results.
  • Coordinates training, mentorship and team building exercises for laboratory staff;
  • Coordinates inventory control management for laboratory supplies and reagentsundrAI1F
  • Coordinates EQA, proficiency testing activities.
  • Coordinates and ensures the compilation of monthly laboratory inventory at all AHF Healthcare Centers;

Education and Competencies

  • BMLS Medical Laboratory Science; AIMLS
  • A minimum of five years post NYSC experience in a similar position.
  • Additional qualification in Medical laboratory science or relevant postgraduate equivalent will be an added advantage.
  • Proficient experience in various HIV services laboratory support equipment handling.
  • High analytical skills, quality control and basic knowledge of HIV laboratory monitoring.
  • Computer proficiency an added advantage.
  • High lab leadership and coordination skills
  • Experience with CD4, hematology, chemistry, microbiological systems.

 

Job Title: Senior Nursing Officer
Location: 
Nasarawa, Abuja
Reports to: Nurse Manager/State Nursing Coordinator

Summary

  • The senior Nursing Officer would work closely with the clinician in ensuring smooth implementation of the ART service delivery within the facility.
  • He/She will directly supervise the ART nurse in providing topnotch HIV care, treatment and prevention programs. This position is crucial to the achievement of AHE Nigeria’s programmatic targets and objectives.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • In close collaboration with the facility medical officer, ensure the provision of qualit evidence based ART, PMTCT prevention and TB services.
  • Supervises the provision of skilled nursing procedures (I.e. dressing changes).
  • Ensures that medication administration Is within the scope of practice of the licensee.
  • Directly performs or monitors the provision of phlebotomy and/or initiates Intravenous infusions as ordered.
  • Attends and participates in Seam conferences as requested.
  • Acts as a team leader to assist with the provision and supervision of patient care in the health facilities.
  • Charts notes and medication administration according to protocol.
  • Supervises the provision of patient and family education in supported health facilities.
  • Exercises appropriate judgment and decision making skills.
  • Mentors and ensures the maintenance of patient confidentiality.
  • Reports significant changes in the patient’s physical status to the RN and/or to the medical provider.
  • Supports the ART nurses to establish effective linkages and referral of patients within and outside the facility.
  • Supports the process of developing/reviewing and adapting HIV Testing and Counseling, Blood and Injection safe USP PEP training curricula end other documents to meet appropriate audience.
  • Ensure accurate and timely documentation of all services provided.
  • Implement operational research protocols to answer important questions within AHF’s treatment and prevention programs.

Education and Experiences

Job Title: HIV Prevention Coordinator
Location:

Reports to: Prevention Program Manager/State Coordinator

Job Summary

  • The HIV prevention coordinator will ensure implementation HIV prevention programs In AHF supported health facilities, ensure adherence to SOPs, national guidelines and protocols.
  • He/ she would facilitate the expansion and coverage of prevention program in line with approved program objectives. Strengthen collaboration & partnership with CBO / CSOs and other NGOs to enhance synergy

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Contributes to the development, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of programs aimed at Biomedical Prevention of HIV (including Testing and Counseling).
  • Coordinates the provision of community ICT outreaches according to acceptable protocols and in line with the national guidelines.
  • Scale up and strengthen the provision of HCT through provider initiated testing and counseling approaches (PITC).
  • Contributes to the design and implementation of approaches in other prevention strategies-including but not limited to Blood and Injection safety, Post exposure prophylaxis, HlV Testing and Counseling, and PHDP.
  • Ensures effective and strategic leadership for HCWs at heath facilities and partners within the continuum of care.
  • Support the design and implementation of prevention programs for MARPs and other key populations (i.e. as female sex workers, Adolescent and young persons as well as PWID).
  • Contribute to the capacity building of HCWs and staff of CBO partners with respect to HIV prevention programs.

Job Title: Pharmacist
Location: 
Abuja, Cross River
Reports to: Pharmacy Manager/State Coordinator

Job Summary

  • Coordinates pharmacy- related activities in AHF supported sites under his/her purview through mentorship of pharmacy staff in medication adherence counselling, pharmaceutical care, provision of relevant drug information, quality assurance of pharmaceuticals, quality improvement of pharmacy services, implementation of appropriate drug dispensing protocols and pharmacy best practices.
  • Works with clinicians to ensure rational drug use, monitor adverse drug reactions, appropriate drug regimen, and improved clinical outcomes of anti-retroviral therapy in patients across AHF Nigeria-supported health facilities.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Reviews prescriptions from AHF care providers to assure accuracy, clinical appropriateness and rational drug use (in accordance with standard guidelines Including the current National Guidelines for HIV Prevention, Treatment and Care> across AHF Nigeria – supported health facilities.
  • Answers questions and provides information to patients and health care providers on drug interactions, aide effects, dosage and storage of pharmaceuticals.
  • Maintains established policies and procedures concerning quality assurance, security of controlled substances and disposal of hazardous waste drugs.
  • Ensures implementation of pharmacy best practices (pharmaceutical care of patients, standard drug dispensing protocols, standard storage of drugs, and implementation of the first-to expire, first-out procedure in the drug stores in all AHF Nigeria-supported health facilities under his/her purview.
  • Ensures availability of anti-retroviral drugs and drugs for opportunistic infections by issuing drugs as required at all AHF Nigeria health facilities from the AHF State Store.
  • Manages all drug inventory procedures at the state level.
  • Monitors National Pharmacy Indicators in all AHF Sites for quality improvement.
  • Ensures appropriate drug reference materials, National treatment guidelines, National Standard Operating Procedures Manuals for Logistics Management of HIV/AIDS Commodities and paediatric dosing wheels are provided for the relevant staff.
  • Support drug procurement processes from AHF Nigeria pre-qualified drug vendors.
  • Support the reviews drug reports to ensure submission of accurate and auditable monthly and bi-monthly drug reports from AHF clinic sites to the organization, Federal Ministry of Health, and National Tuberculosis and Leprosy Control Programme.

Job Title: Laboratory Scientist
Location:

Reports to: Laboratory Services Manager/State Coordinator

Summary

  • To provide laboratory oversight in AHF supported sites and monitor adherence to standard laboratory protocols and guidelines.
  • Involved in training, support supervision, mentorship, and team building exercises for laboratory staff. Directly supervises laboratory technicians and other lab personnel on routine lab assays, demonstrates experience in running the Cyf low (CD4+), Chemistry and Hematology machines.
  • Ensures implementation of laboratory services in line with approved QCIQA protocols at supported healthcare centers.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Participates in planning and overseeing, supervision and monitoring activities for the laboratory function for all sites;
  • Provides routine and basic laboratory services for PLHIV attending the health facilities as required;
  • Oversees laboratory services provision, ensures standard, and current practices are in place for maintaining high quality laboratory services including calibration, standardization and maintenance of automated or Semi- automated instruments following established procedures.
  • Ensures compliance and implementation of laboratory protocols for all lab technicians and assistance involved with the lab function; including maximizing the use of available resources.

Job Title: Pharmacy Technician

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Reviews prescriptions issued by AHF Providers or other authorized prescriber to assure accuracy and clinical appropriateness;
  • Support pharmacy personnel on pharmaceuticals and Pharmaceutics processes and procedures including monitoring of ADR and adherence counseling,
  • Answers questions and provides information to patients and providers on drug interactions, side effects, dosage and storage of pharmaceuticals;
  • Maintains established policies and procedures concerning quality assurance, security of controlled substances, and disposal of hazardous waste drugs
  • Manages appropriate data collection, such as client name, prescribed medication and cost,to maintain pharmacy files, charge system, and inventory
  • Work with relevant clinic site personnel to maintain accurate drugs records system for efficient drug logistics
  • Ensure completion and submission accurate and auditable monthly drug reports from AHF clinic sites

Job Summary

Job Title: Counselor

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Contributes to the development, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of patients Adherence programs aimed at strengthening treatment literacy at the health facility and community.
  • Ensures reinforcement of treatment adherence messages during pre treatment counseling sessions for PLHIV.
  • Ensures the effective implementation of Positive health dignity and prevention (PHOP) concepts-at the community and health facility level.
  • Ensures effective and strategic leadership to Health care workers, CRD FBO partners within the continuum of care.

Job Title: Driver/Logistics Assistant

Reports to: Operations Manager/State Coordinator

Job Summary

  • The Driver/Logistics Assistant is responsible for managing the day to day operations of the means of transport like buses, vans, trucks and the drivers of the organization.
  • S(h)e sees to it that staff members are safe, and makes sure that they don’t face any transportation-related problems.
  • They will need to ensure compliance with the organization’s and the national legal guidelines for operations of automobiles, maintenance, and care of company vehicles.
  • S(he) should be familiar with the organizations goods and supplies needs, and support the movement of these goods and products within the organizations supported sites.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Responsible for dispatching the proper loading of program vehicles;
  • Mu-st adhere to security and operational procedures;
  • Ensures that vehicle log books are properly filled by drivers every month and submitted to Finance for review;
  • Performs duties of the transport department and any other related duties whenever required;
  • Provides mentorship for all drivers to ensure their driving skills are up to standard;
  • Gives timely reports on the working condition of company vehicles and equipment;
  • Responsible for filing reports for any delay, incident or accident;
  • Keeps communication open with drivers, day program staff, staff members etc regarding transportation means;
  • Coordinates the maintenance and repair of vehicles one timely manner;

Qualifications, Education and Experience

  • Basic technical knowledge of automobiles, as he has to write reports on the working condition of the company transport means;

Job Title: Community HTS Assistant
Location: 
Nasarawa, Kogi, Cross River, Benue
Reports to: Prevention Coordinator

Summary of Position

  • To render quality counseling and psychosocial support to clients.
  • Refer clients for appropriate additional psychosocial and clinical support.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (Other duties may be assigned by the supervisor)
VCT Duties:

  • Provides pre and post – voluntary HIV confidential counseling and testing, to all patients willing to have the HIV test done. KPA: Must test an average of 120 patients per week, but may see rnore if patients are still available.
  • Performs the rapid HIV testing on all clients that have consented to testing. KPA: ensures that each and every test done, has consent signed by the patient or a legally authorized person.
  • Encourages and support patients that test positive; helping them to cope with the new diagnosis. KPA: Try to make sure that the patient accepts and can deal with the new diagnosis.
  • Participates in Mass HIV testing initiatives and campaigns. KPA: Take part in mass HlV testing activities according to mass testing projects program.
  • Acts as (by facilitating) a linkage between HLV diagnosis, care, support and treatment, KPA: Ensures that an HIV positive’ patient is referred to the next appropriate level of care.

Adherence Counseling Duties:

  • Collaborate with other health care professionals (doctor, nurse, social worker, community health care worker, home-based caregiver, psychologist.) in maintaining treatment protocol. KPA: Assist other professionals by seeing at least 10 patients per day or entering them to HlV care program.
  • Provide direct and comprehensive primary, preventive and Psychosocial care to patients. KPA refers to support groups and these are recorded in support group register. Also encourages patients to have a supporter on treatment
  • Teach and counsel patients & family on disease prevention and staying healthy. KPA Run literacy classes; educating patients on ARVs and staying healthy.
  • Assist patients with adherence counseling and document the session in counseling form. KPA at least see 5 or more defaulting patients per day.
  • Provide ongoing psychosocial counseling to clients attending the clinic. (PA Must have a minimum of 65 clients seen and counseled per month.
  • Assist with the reading and interpretation of the CD4 count results to clients KPA
  • Brings questions and concerns to the physician as necessary.
  • Maintain filing system for all client records including psychosocial forms, laboratory results and medical records. KPA: Client confidentiality to be maintained at all times.

Treatment Literacy Duties:

  • Provide training to patients ready for ARV treatment and provide them with the clinical and laboratory goals of ARV’s, KPA: mutt keep a schedule for this and a register of attendance for patients attending literacy training sessions.
  • Identify clients who are defaulting and furnish team with relevant information for intervention. KPA : Suggest solutions to deal with adherence as per each clients need.
  • Preparation for weekly sessions with supervisor by noting challenges encountered and planning for the next weeks activities. KPA: Keeps agenda for meeting supervisors and becomes punctual.

General Duties:

  • Prepare monthly report on services rendered for submission to supervisor. EPA: monthly statistical reports submitted on time.
  • Participate in team de-briefing sessions. KPA: keep record of debriefing sessions held.
  • Enter client visit details into the psychosocial relevant register. KPA: Provide weekly psychosocial relevant statistical report to the data capturer.

Job Summary

  • The Data Assistant will be responsible for all data reporting-related activities of the site programs in line with reporting requirements.
  • This includes implementing M&E framework, maintenance of monitoring data collections systems at site.
  • He/she will also contribute to the design and assist the M&E Manager in conducting program assessments and evaluations to promote a culture of evidence-based decision making.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the implementation of monitoring and Evaluation activities in the field
  • Support the development and strengthening of AHF Nigeria Monitoring and Evaluation Systems.
  • Manage and Update site level database and ensure timely reports to the country office
  • Ensure correct use of M&E tools at the site and outpost and logistics of tools.
  • Provide mentoring out-post facility and CBO’sto ensure that the data entered into the facility database are accurate, consistent and according to standard operating procedures
  • Ensure data are reported according to the approved data flow and timelines and attend to any other duties assigned
  • Ensure all data are fed into Open MRS, webPPR, Site database and state DHIS.

  • Supervise site level data reporting cycle to ensure high quality and complete data are sent to the country office on a periodic basis, or when required.
  • Any other duty designated by the Monitoring and Evaluation Manager.

Key Result Areas:

  • Facilitate the collection, collation and analysis of key program indicators and reporting to the country office

Education and Experience

  • Degree in Statistics (Major), Medical Demography, Mathematics and other related discipline.
  • Significant experience in data entry and data management.
  • Demonstrate competence in assessing priorities and in managing a variety of activities in a time-sensitive environment, and in meeting dea4iines with attention to details and quality.
  • Strong writing, editing, and formatting skills.
  • Demonstrate computer kills in Microsoft Office Suite applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SPSS or STATA. Use of OpenMRS will be of advantage.
  • Demonstrate ability and willingness to take initiative and to be flexible depending on changing priorities and deadlines.
