Alliance for Green Revolution in Africa (AGRA) is seeking to recruit exceptional and experienced individuals to fill the positions of Program Officer, Market Access Program and Program Officer, Monitoring & Evaluation, for the West Africa region and will be based in Accra.

Program Officer- Market Access Program Ref: PO/MAP 01

The position will report to the Director of Market Access Program based in Nairobi.

Key responsibilities:

Developing and implementing agricultural output market access approaches that directly benefit smallholder farmers.
Developing and supporting innovative value chain approaches that increase the participation of smallholder farmers in local, regional and global trade flows.
Identifying and supporting efforts that enable smallholder farmers to sell their products and capture value from downstream activities (e.g. market information systems).
Developing and maintaining multi-disciplinary networks of individuals and organizations that promote linking smallholder farmers to markets.
Developing and supporting programs for training the next generation of agri-business leaders in Africa.
Qualifications and experience:

Masters degree in Business, Agricultural Economics or related disciplines
Minimum of five (5) years of experience leading agri-businesses and development efforts, partially or wholly in Africa.
Experience in managing multinational initiatives in the private and/or public sector is essential.
Good understanding of agricultural markets, commodities and higher value products as well as sound understanding of farmer incentives.
A sound knowledge of, and experience in agricultural trade development, including the demand and supply challenges in Africa.
Ability to interact with business, political and community leaders is essential.

Program Officer- Monitoring and Evaluation Ref: PO/ME 02

The position will report to the Director of Strategy, Monitoring and Evaluation based in Nairobi.

Key responsibilities:

Reviewing and revising the program’s objective hierarchy and log frame matrix;
Guiding the identification and design of key indicators and targets for each program component;
Determining information needs of the program team, grantees and other key stakeholders and drawing up TOR for specific evaluation studies;
Spearheading the recording, reporting and analysis of progress against the annual work-plan and budget;
Designing the formats and procedures for operational monitoring, reviewing relevant reports to assess interim impacts and identify causes of potential bottlenecks in implementation;
Reviewing existing M&E and management information systems of implementing partners/grantees and identifying where support is needed;
Guiding and supervising organizations that are sub-contracted to implement special surveys or studies required for evaluating program effects and impacts; and
Undertaking regular field visits and assessing field reports.
Qualifications and experience:

Masters degree in Agriculture, Rural Development, Social Sciences or any other relevant field
Minimum of ten (10) years professional experience, with at least five (5) years in monitoring and evaluation.
Exceptional interpersonal, diplomatic and networking skills and should be comfortable working in a multicultural environment
For both positions, excellent communication and writing skills in both English and French as well as proficiency in computer usage are essential.
