Job description

ACTIVITIES

Specifically for electrical maintenance :

-Provides technical support to the Electrical Maintenance leader for control and electrical equipment. Acts as the focal point for electrical engineering matters, and provides expert technical advice to the Electrical Maintenance leader and other departments.

-Supervises the implementation of minor electrical modifications and improvement projects, to ensure their safe, cost-effective and timely execution in accordance with established Company standards and specifications.

-Reviews and controls the standardization of materials and spare parts for electrical equipment and related systems. Reviews stock quantities, usage and consumption to minimise the stock value, whilst ensuring that all spare parts are available for routine, defect and shutdown maintenance.

-Assists the Maintenance Methods Engineer and the Mechanical Maintenance leader in the preparation of budgets, contracts, shutdowns, modifications, warranty claims, vendor mobilisation and all other support functions necessary for the efficient running of the mechanical section.

-Ensures updating of the CMMS

General Method activities:

-Troubleshoots complex or recurring electrical problems, which require analysis and resolution with the help of other departments, vendors or original equipment manufacturers, and recommends sound and cost effective solutions.

-Administers the electrical planned preventive maintenance programme, to ensure that the maintenance tasks undertaken are adequate to prevent unplanned equipment failure.

-Liaises with vendors and the original equipment manufacturers for all queries regarding maintenance, modifications, spare parts, drawings and the resolution of technical problems.

-Ensures that all drawings, plans, manual and MELB are up-to-date and “as built”, and directs draftsmen to carry out all corrections to reflect any alterations, modifications and additions to electrical equipment systems.

-Review and checks work completed by contractors, ensures compliance with work satisfactorily completed, makes necessary corrections, and submits to the Maintenance Methods Engineer for endorsement and payment processing.

Job requirements

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND BACKGROUND

Formal education: B.SC. Mechanical Engineering (2.1).

Professional experience (number of years) : 5 years experience with industrial electrical discipline preferably with the oil or petrochemical industries.

Engineering expertise in field electrical discipline .

Good computer knowledge.
