Job Title: Media Officer
Location: Mowe / Ibafo, Ogun
Employment Type: Full-time

Job Description:
Communication Strategies and Social Media:

  • Develop and implement public relations and media strategies for Embassy activities.
  • Manage the Embassy’s Facebook page and Twitter account alongside Public Diplomacy Manager.
  • Design graphics and produce videos to accompany social media posts.
  • Prepare or review press releases for Embassy activities in English and / or Thai.

Media Liaison, Monitoring and Research:

  • Manage media inquiries, media interviews and monitor the media, including key developments concerning Australia and major policy announcements.
  • Establish, maintain and strengthen relationships across a broad range of regional stakeholders, including community organisations, government officials, private sector representatives, international and local media organisations.
  • Support the planning of high level visits to Thailand by Australian officials and media.
  • Organise attendance of local media and photographers at press conferences and Embassy functions, including outside Bangkok.
  • Provide translation services between English and Thai at press conferences, interviews or other engagements as required.
  • Research, analyse and report on political and economic issues.

Events / Activities Management:

  • Manage public diplomacy activities in support of the Embassy’s strategies and objectives including managing the delivery of multiple concurrent events, coordinating stakeholders, speakers and other logistical arrangements such as guest lists, catering, entertainment and technical support.

Other Support:

  • Perform back-up and other duties as required.

Qualifications / Experience required:

  • Candidates should possess an HND qualification
  • At least two years’ experience working in the media industry, communication and/or tertiary qualifications in a related field.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in both English and Thai.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of media landscape and social media usage in Thailand.
  • Experience with social media, graphic design, photography, and video production would be a valuable asset.
  • Experience in liaising with the media.
  • Strong organisational skills, especially as they relate to the planning and management of high-level visits. Ability to prioritise and meet deadlines and to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Strong conceptual and analytical skills, including a demonstrated ability to exercise sound judgment and initiative; ability to identify critical issues and to respond quickly.
  • Demonstrated competence in the use of software products including Microsoft Word and Excel.

N70,000 – N80,000 monthly.
