Nigeria is a major market for Diageo and has historically been involved in the sale and manufacture of beer, Lager, Ready to drink (RTDs) and Malt drinks within this market.

The Nigerian drinks market is relatively unsophisticated, but highly dynamic. Diageo Brands Nigeria (DBN) has been established to expanding Diageo’s operations and portfolio of brands by venturing into the marketing and sales of Diageo’s already existing rich Spirit brands.

Guiness Nigeria Plc is recruiting to fill the following positions:

1.) Business Performance Measurement (BPM) Manager

Purpose of Role

The role holder is required to provide financial analysis and support to Guinness Nigeria’s business leaders and the wider Diageo teams.

Key Accountabilities

1. Business Performance Measurement (BPM) reporting and analysis on a monthly basis, including:

  • Ownership for the compilation and review of detailed analyses of Balance Sheet, Cash Flow and Risks/Opportunities for Nigeria Beer business results
  • Explanation of key performance drivers
  • Be the ‘expert’ for Nigeria market who is able to identify insights and value creating opportunities

2. Responsible for preparing the Annual Operating Plan (AOP) including:

  • Modelling for Debtors, Creditors and Inventory
  • Rigorously challenging the numbers and assumptions from finance and non-finance teams
  • Managing the collation of other inputs into the Balance Sheet (BS) /Cash Flow (CF)
  • Ensuring completeness, speed and accuracy of data

3. Working Capital Management including:

  • Organising relevant challenge and build meetings
  • Continuous process improvement
  • Reviewing and aligning with Line Manager and other key business stakeholders

4. Controls and Risk Management (CARM) compliance:

  • Assist Head of Finance Planning & Analysis (HFP&A)in ensuring Controls and Risk Management (CARM) compliance on Business Performance Measurement (BPM) involving performing key reconciliations and controls, testing controls and assessing results and potential improvements.

Skills, Qualifications and Experience Required

  • Graduate Calibre. Professional qualification (ACA/CIMA/ACCA) is mandatory
  • Minimum 8 years post qualification experience in financial and/or management accounting role in an FMCG company.
  • Experience with SAP and Magnitude would be an added advantage
  • Analytical, interpretative and decision-making skills
  • Excellent project management skills
  • Advanced Microsoft office proficiency
  • Self starter, high commitment, delivers against goals with minimal supervision

2.) Portfolio Manager – Demand & Indirect

Responsibilities

  • The role holder is responsible for Strategic Procurement & Projects across all Procurement spend in Demand & Indirect in Guinness Nigeria as well as drives Vendor Base Rationalisation and evaluation/selection and development of suppliers of long-term relevance to the business
  • The post-holder is expected to deliver significant profit growth/savings and added value to the business through developing Category Strategies, focusing on Strategic sourcing and driving through cost saving projects, by working with cross functional Teams.
  • This will require a fundamental change in focus away from transactional procurement to adoption of a comprehensive Category Management process and implementation of Strategic Sourcing.
  • Manages a portfolio of approximately 700 suppliers
  • Expected to deliver significant year on year cost reductions net of inflation.
  • Targeted benefits include delivery of savings projects committed by the Procurement Director to the business
  • To own and develop Strategic Procurement in Guinness Nigeria.
  • To deliver cost savings year on year
  • To identify savings projects and initiatives for cost efficiency.
  • To drive Supplier Rationalisation programmes and develop Suppliers of long term relevance to the business.
  • To fully embed Category Management in Guinness Nigeria.
  • To contribute and support the Pan Africa Category Management agenda.

Leadership Responsibilities

  • Management and leadership of the Procurement Demand & Indirect Team comprising of 2 Category Managers and 2 Supplier Performance Managers.
  • Leading the Category Teams and working through cross functional Teams, securing Strategy sign-offs by key stakeholders/ the Guinness Nigeria Leadership Team and driving implementation.
  • High performance coaching and development of the Demand & Indirect Procurement Team.

Key Accountabilities

  • Embed Category Management and develop/drive Category strategies
  • Deliver savings and identified projects for the business.
  • Project manage and drive initiatives and Supplier Rationalisation programme
  • Manage, develop and coach all reports to build a high performing team

Requirements

  • Graduate calibre, MBA would be an added advantage
  • Minimum 7 years post qualification Procurement experience; experience within the FMCG environment is advantageous.

3.) Demand Planning Manager

Job Description
Context/Scope:

  • The Demand Planner creates and maintains forecast models for Guinness Nigeria and Diageo Brands Nigeria customers, incorporating business intelligence and forecast information gathered from sales, marketing, finance, sales operation, and other sources (i.e.: Nielsen or other syndicated consumer data).
  • The Demand Planner is the integration point into the sales and marketing organizations. Basic forecast modeling is the responsibility of this position. This position leads the dialogue each month for their respective customers and products with key counterparts in Sales, Customer Marketing and Marketing.

Purpose of Role

  • To ensure that the best possible short, medium and long term forecast of demand for all Guinness Nigeria Plc & Diageo Brands Nigeria products are available at all times.
  • Work with customer marketing, marketing and sales team by providing and maintaining very robust informed and statistically based forecast of forward demand for Guinness Nigeria Plc & Diageo Brands Nigeria.
  • Manage monthly demand planning process with proper documentation of assumptions, identified risk and business opportunities for Guinness Nigeria Plc & Diageo Brands Nigeria

Key Accountabilities

  • Developing baseline statistical forecast using demand planning system
  • Supporting the Sales & Operations Planning (S & OP) Manager to embed Sales and operations planning in the market.
  • Maintain demand planning system and software
  • Providing detailed analysis of forecast trend and accuracy to guide the gap management process
  • To manage the escalation of demand issues and facilitate effective solution to shortfall in the plan-both tactical and operational.
  • Conducting root cause analysis and corrective action planning to understand sales forecast accuracy &Bias
  • Ensure effective Marketing & Evaluation (M&E) analysis of the assumption and input used to develop activity forecast.

Skills,Qualifications and Experience Required

  • Graduate calibre in the Sciences, Social Sciences or other relevant field.
  • A Master’s degree in business is an added advantage
  • 5 years Supply Chain planning experience with a proven track record including demand, minimum 2 years Supply Chain experience in an FMCG
  • Previous experience of Advanced Planner & Optimiser (APO) & SAP Enterprise Central Components (ECC’s) is preferred
  • Prior experience in similar planning roles preferred (Demand Planning, Production planning, Commercial/Sales Planning etc.)
  • Excellent Communication and influencing Skills
  • Strong understanding of core Demand Management process and understanding of forecasting heuristics
  • Good knowledge of the end to end supply chain and the impacts of the demand signal
  • Knowledge of market dynamics is preferred

4.) Reserve Sales Manager

  • Activate the Key Bar Growth Drivers through customer base

Requirements

  • Graduate calibre with 3-5 years minimum relevant work experience
  • Experienced driver with valid license
  • Commercial experience and understanding, preferably within FMCG environment
  • Good communication skills – written and verbal

  • On Trade experience is advantageous

5.) Marketing Manager – Spirits

  • The Marketing Manager will work closely with the General Manager DBN, Marketing Director and the Customer Marketing team
  • The role will lead the marketing agenda for the Diageo spirits portfolio in Nigeria, developing brand strategies and leading the execution of these strategies to ensure that chosen priority brands are leaders in their categories in Nigeria.
  • The role will continually identify & quantify new growth opportunities for the portfolio based on continuously updated consumer insights, developing new growth drivers if required in partnership with West Africa Spirits Hub Team, whilst developing Spirits Marketing Talent for the future in Nigeria & Africa.

Leadership Responsibilities

  • Work with the DBN General Manager & Marketing Director, Nigeria to set and execute the Nigeria five-year Strategy on Spirits Brands
  • Liaise with the West Africa Spirits Hub Team & fellow African spirits brand teams to ensure 2 way search & spin of growth drivers on the priority brands and lead delivery across the region
  • Develop & Coach the Nigeria Spirits Marketing team on Marketing & Spirits excellence in execution and support the DBN Customer Marketing team

Key Accountabilities

  • Assist and support the General Manager DBN to deliver the AOP growth aspirations plus overlay targets in F14 and beyond
  • Assist DBN General Manager in establishing the evolving route to market assessment for Spirits in Nigeria including a plan for correct COGS & efficient SKU’s for long term growth
  • Support and lead Spirits Brand growth with Marketing Director by developing & implementing the code for growth for Spirits
  • Lead the development of the local Game Plan and lead the categories in the Joined up Business Planning (JUBP) process
  • Work with the in-market teams & commercial managers to turn the Spirits annual GAME brand plans into “executable” commercial plans and assist with the development of missing growth drivers.

Requirements

  • University degree in Marketing / Business or other related discipline preferred
  • Postgraduate Qualifications – an advantage

6.) Contingent Worker Administrator (Nigeria) – First Point Africa

Purpose of Role

The Market Contingent Worker Administrators purpose will be to manage the on-boarding, movement, tracking and exits for the contingent workforce that are required to be loaded in Workday. They will liaise directly with Line Managers and external agencies across the countries within their assigned market with respect to the administration of these worker types.

Key Accountabilities

  • Role model the HR Model and “push” HR queries to the appropriate channels.
  • Provide training and occasional support to employees and line managers on the new HR systems, processes and embeds the new roles and responsibilities
  • Takes ownership for and resolves any complex, market specific queries relevant to contingent workers that require either detailed market knowledge or a face to face intervention.
  • Responsible for the delivery of the following:
    • Contingent worker On-Boarding – Required contractors have been loaded into Workday and their details satisfactorily completed and captured.
    • Liaison with market or country finance – Ensuring that appropriate purchase orders are created in SAP or relevant finance system for contingent workers.
    • Market HR Reporting – Runs market or business unit reports from Workday on contingent workforce and provides to Line Manager, Functional heads, HRBP / HRD for business performance meetings.
    • Exits: Local or face to face support to Line managers or HRBPs for Exit processes (e.g. collection of equipment etc.)
    • Local Non Workday related Employee Lifecycle processes – There will be market specific processes that are not completed in Workday, these will vary by market. The in-market first point team will be expected to deliver these.
  • Embed continuous improvement as the way we do things – personally championing and role modelling innovation and simplification ideas, and encouraging and demanding them from others.
  • Works directly with customer groups when there are any service issues or complaints which need to be resolved with respect to relevant contingent workers.
