We are looking for a suitable candidate to fill the following vacant positions below:

Job Title: Communications Field Officer
Location: 
Yobe

Main Responsibilities

  • Assists the Head of Office (HoO) in situation analysis, identifies relevant stakeholders and facilitates contacts with them; advises the HoO on developments in Yobe state
  • Conducts, mainly independently, information sessions with the main stakeholders
  • Contributes to the interaction with the local Nigerian Red Cross Branches (NRCS) and provides support in capacity-building to their particular COM-programmes
  • Identifies the communications needs of the office, contributes actively to the development of the strategy and planning of activities
  • Supports the Communications Coordinator of the Delegation in the analysis of the communication needs with field perspectives and contributes to the development of the Delegation’s communications strategy and in the preparation of the annual planning exercise

Required Qualifications

  • University degree in relevant field
  • A minimum of five years working experience in a similar field
  • Very good command of written and spoken English and Hausa – the knowledge of Kanuri is a strong advantage
  • Good computer skills
  • Good knowledge of geographical area covered by the office (Yobe state)

Job Title: Protection Field Officer
Location:
Mubi, Adamawa

Main Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the implementation of Protection (mainly Restoring Family Links) in her/ his Area of Responsibility (AoR)
  • Participates in the analysis of the situation and humanitarian issues.
  • Identifies protection problems and ensures proper treatment of enquiries following family separation, violations of IHL and other humanitarian consequences of the conflict, violence or natural disasters
  • Participates in networking and dialogue with relevant interlocutors, ensures interaction with other departments (Assistance, Prevention and Coopertation), Sub-delegations and offices, the NRCS and external contacts.
  • Contributes to the reporting of violent incidents and Health Care in Danger incidents tables.
  • Acts as a source of information in the AoR for Communication, Cooperation departments and Management or Delegates. Advises, and guides them in their networking activities.

Required Qualifications

  • University degree in a relevant field, preferably in the field of law
  • 4 years experience in the Protection/Tracing with very good command of the Prot6 software
  • Excellent written and spoken English, Hausa, Kanuri (Shuaa-Arab and French an asset)
  • Good computer skills: knowledge in Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
  • Represents the organization properly with different level of interlocutors.
  • Sound analytical skills, Good knowledge of the Area of Responsibility – AoR (Political, cultural and geographical)
  • Driving Licence and succeeded in ICRC Driving test.

  • Treats information with confidentiality and accuracy, and maintains an adapted and respectful attitude towards beneficiaries, interlocutors and colleagues
  • Participates in networking and dialogue with relevant interlocutors, ensures interaction with other departments (Assistance, Prevention and Cooperation), Sub-delegations and offices, the NRCS and external contacts.
  • Collection, analysis and monitoring of incidents, including protection concerns, in order to identify trends, with a priority to the humanitarian consequences of the armed conflict in the AoR.
  • Contributes to the reporting of violent incidents and Health Care in Danger incidents tables.

Job Title: Polyvalent Field Officer
Location: Damaturu

Main Responsibilities

  • Developing a state-wide security network to monitor and follow up on the security situation in the different Local Government Areas (LGAs)
  • Conduct ICRC dissemination activities to audiences and interlocutors and thus contribution to the further positioning of the ICRC in the Area of Responsibility (AoR)
  • Maintaining, developing and expanding a network of interlocutors relevant for ICRC activities within the AoR
  • Collaboration with the Nigerian Red Cross Society branch and divisions relevant for the Damaturu office
  • Support in the Protection-activities of the office, especially in the activities related to restoring family links and protection of civilian population
  • Advises the Head of Office and Field Delegates/officers in the networking of the office and ways of how to improve positioning of the ICRC with key players within the AoR

Required Qualifications

  • University degree preferably in Social sciences (political science, sociology, anthropology, etc.)
  • Background in security services an asset (the candidate should hold a senior officer rank)
  • Minimum of 4 years of working experience in positions with public outreach and/or security management
  • Excellent knowledge of the political, security and socio-cultural/religious dynamics of North East of Nigeria in general and Yobe State in specific.
  • Existing network with key players of at least one of the mentioned layers (politics, security, religious circles, society)
  • Advanced analytical skills, especially on political, security and social dynamics of Yobe state but also regional perspective
  • Good communication skills, excellent knowledge of written and oral English and advanced reporting skills (writing reports)
  • Advanced computer skills is a must (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Experience in security management is an asset

Job Title: Senior Health Officer
Location:
Abuja

Job Purpose

  • The scope of the Senior Health Officer position is to provide support to the five countries covered by the West Coast country support team; Benin, Cote d’Ivoire, Ghana, Nigeria and Togo.
  • S/he shall be based in Abuja and as a secondary responsibility, be supporting the Nigeria Red Cross Society (NRCS) in their day to day Health and care related activities. His/her primary responsibility will be to implement the Cluster Health strategy.

The primary duties of the Focal point for Health and Care are to:

  • Support capacity building of the NS Health and Care departments at Headquarters and branch levels.
  • Work closely with the NS Counterparts to contribute towards integrated disaster preparedness, Risk
  • Reduction, operation response, Resilience building and recovery.
  • Liaise with and encourage NS to engage effectively with other key health sector players at national level,
  • Monitor the National and Regional spread and severity of current epidemic diseases and proactively communicate emerging health related issues to focal points of contact as appropriate, in collaboration with relevant agencies.
  • Represent IFRC in relevant health sector forums and networks and share among these sectors and forums, information about RC/RC technical know-how developed and lessons learned.
  • Have the responsibility to support the NSs in proposal development for funding with an aim towards expanding the current health portfolio
  • Liaise with partners to identify opportunities for engagement, to work with the NS to enhance its visibility vis-àvis the Ministries of Health and relevant departments in the five countries;
  • Support regular monitoring and evaluation of country level community based health programmes.
  • Support development of a training curriculum/strategy for the NS Health Staff at Headquarter and
  • Branch levels covering areas such as: community based health and nutrition approaches and topics as well as in project planning, budgeting, reporting and proposal writing.
  • Document best practices and lessons learnt in community based health programme implementation.

Job Description

  • Build and maintain a knowledge database and disseminate technical information, updates and innovation in the health sector to PNS and Cluster.
  • Participate in health trainings, meetings and forums when applicable.
  • Produce regular quality technical reports to the Cluster and in collaboration with the PMER Delegate

Position Requirements
Education:

  • Relevant University Degree (such as Management, Development Studies, Public Health, Social Sciences, etc.)

Required:

  • Master’s Degree in Public Health or related Discipline

Experience:

  • A Minimum of 2 years’ experience in leading and managing public health programs in a humanitarian organization in developing countries.

Required:

  • Good understanding of the humanitarian environment, strong analytical skills and capacity to translate analysis into strategy and planning.
  • A very good track record of networking, influencing and negotiating and building relationships effectively.
  • Eperience in proposal development, report writing, and developing budgets.
  • Eperience of field based implementation.
  • Eperience of financial management to ensure compliance.
