Job Title: Manager, External Training
Ref: IITA-HR-NRS2017-0011
Location: Ibadan
Recruitment Type: National (3-year renewable contract)

Responsibilities

Successful candidate will among other things perform the following duties:

  • Design and develop a training income generation strategy and plan and manage implementation to ensure that income generation and business development opportunities in the provision of training are realized.
  • Work with staff to identify a suite of training courses which can prioritize for marketing to external audiences in support of our strategic aim of Transforming African Agriculture and in due course, aligned to ENABLE and TAAT programs; support the implementation of ENABLE and TAAT training programs.
  • Liaise effectively with relevant staff and training providers in order to enlist appropriately skilled trainers to deliver training programs; evaluate training proposals, and manage feedback on training effectiveness to make recommendations for program optimization and to ensure continuous quality assurance.
  • Work with an E-learning Instructional Designer to create high quality and engaging e-learning modules, and supporting tools, following an instructional design process; Support staff in their external training programs delivery.
  • Promote learning on common good practices and exchange training programs.
  • Contribute to the development of the content/design of the Training pages on the intranet.
  • Contribute to the management and maintenance of the training information on the database / system for training delivery, reporting and record maintenance.
  • Contribute to the development of policies, guidelines and training materials for successful implementation of training programs.
  • Support the development and writing of proposals for capacity development and training projects.
  • Report on external training activities and assist the Head of CDO in developing annual budgets and plan.
  • Perform other duties as may be assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in Agricultural Extension, Social Sciences, Humanities or related field with at least 5 years of experience in managing training programs in a research organization.
  • Membership of NITAD or other relevant professional organization is an added advantage.

Competencies
Ideal Candidate must have:

  • Experience in creation, coordination and delivery of training programs.
  • Understanding of adult learning, participatory training approaches, curriculum design and development is essential.
  • Skills in project management, data collection, evaluation and needs analyses with good organization, communication and coordination abilities are also required.
  • Good English (written and spoken) communication skills; other language skills, particularly French, are desirable.

Job Title: ICT-Senior Infrastructure Officer

Responsibilities

  • Successful candidate will among other things perform the following duties:
  • Assist in determining appropriate server size and configuration for business application in conjunction with the application development team;
  • Perform system maintenance, high-level support of the operating systems and relative software and mobile communication components;
  • Perform hardware configuration and administration, event, fault and performance management, system performance and configuration management;
  • Monitor CPU activity, memory usage, disk I/O, disk usage and mailing out warning when these reach critical threshold;
  • Maintain operating system and shared Information Technology infrastructure (Internet, e-mail, telephone) to maximize performance;
  • Identify, isolate and resolve problems on servers, storage network systems and networking infrastructure;
  • Provide operational support for systems hardware, peripherals and software; Implement database and data dictionary back up, recovery, archiving functions and also ensure the integrity of the database;
  • Perform routine maintenance and support tasks;
  • Resolve operational issues referred by service desk;
  • Test and implement disaster recovery plan;
  • Develop and maintain operations documentation and handle daily operation of servers and storage;
  • Monitor server/storage usage statistics and daily logs;

Qualifications

  • MSC. in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, Management Information System, Electrical/Electronic Engineering or related field with at least Five (5) years’ experience in networking and communication management.

The Ideal Candidate can have any of the following certifications:

  • ITIL Manager, Certified Information Technology, Professional (CITP), Microsoft SQL Server certification, Microsoft Certified Systems certification(MCSA), Microsoft Certified System Engineer (MCSE), Oracle Weblogic Server 11g System Administrator, RedHat Certified System Administrator (RHSCA), and Sun Certified System Administrator.

  • Assist in designing/reviewing IITA’s M& E systems and reporting template;
  • Assist in maintaining all M&E report and data management systems across IITA’s programmes and projects;
  • Support IITA’s regional staff on M&E implementation and systems;
  • Assist in conducting M&E workshops for staff members, partners, and beneficiaries;
  • Develop performance matrices, data matrices, and data tools for data management;
  • Develop M&E plans for programmes, projects, units, and sections/subsections within IITA;
  • Review objective hierarchy and logical framework matrices (activities, processes, inputs, outputs, outcomes and impacts) of projects under the hub;
  • Determine information needs of project managers, partners, and cooperating institutions;
  • Identify and design performance questions, key indicators and targets for each project;
  • Agree with stakeholders on how to record, report, and analyse progress against targets; and design formats for reporting on progress;
  • Undertake and facilitate the M&E plan implementation, regularly revising and updating performance questions, indicators, methods, formats and analytical processes;
  • Assist in conducting and monitoring site visits;
  • Participate in evaluations (baseline, mid-term, end of project), internal and external impact assessment studies;
  • Provide mentoring and coaching in performance assessment to M&E focal persons through on-site and on-line meetings;

Qualifications

  • HND/B.Sc in Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Social Studies, Development Studies or related field.
  • With at least Three (3) years’ experience performing same role.
