REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE 

a.   Professor         –       MUASSS 7

A good honors degree and a Ph.D. degree in the relevant field and at least twelve (12) years of teaching and research experience in a University or Institution of comparable status. Evidence of substantial scholarly publications in reputable journals and ability to initiate and develop courses at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Candidates must also be able to initiate projects, possess some administrative experience as well as experience in working with interdisciplinary groups. Successful applicants must also be able to give academic and professional leadership in the field.

b.   Senior Lecturer     –      MUASSS 5

A candidate for this post must possess a good honours degree and a Ph.D degree in the specified field plus at least six (6) years of teaching and research experience in a university or an institution of comparable status. Candidates must have the ability to initiate research work and to supervise post-graduate projects. Evidence of scholarly publications in reputable journals is also required.

c.   Lecturer I               MUASSS 4

Same as Senior Lecturer except that the candidate should have at least five (5) years of post doctoral teaching and research experience in a university or an institution of comparable status.

d.   Lecturer II       –        MUASSS 3

Candidates should possess a good honours degree and a Ph.D degree in the specified field of specialization from a recognized university. Candidates with Masters Degree must have at least three (3) years of teaching and research experience in a university or in an institution of comparable status and must show evidence of registration for a Ph.D programme. Evidence of scholarly publications will be an advantage.

e.   Senior Librarian     –      MUASSS 4

Candidates should possess a Master’s degree in Library/Archive and Information Science from a recognized University with at least six (6) years of relevant post qualification experience in an academic/research library system. Candidates must also show evidence of considerable scholarship and thorough understanding of the application of new technologies to library operations and services e.g. cataloguing and classification, information literacy, and on-line information service. Candidates will be required to show sufficient evidence of contribution to knowledge through research and scholarly publications in reputable journals.

f.   Librarian I         –      MUASSS 3

Candidates must possess a Master’s Degree in Library and Information Science from a recognized University with at least three (3) years of relevant post qualification experience in an academic/research library system. Computer literacy and application of ICT to acquisition work are essential requirements.

SALARIES AND ALLOWANCES

McPherson University runs a remuneration package which is comparable to what obtains in public Universities in Nigeria. The basic salaries are as follows:

i.   Professor         MUASSS 7   (N2,495,902.00–N3,219,939.00) per annum
ii.   Senior Lecturer   MUASSS 5   (N1,664,214.00–N2,359,098.00) per annum
iii.   Lecturer I       MUASSS 4   (N1,133,550.00 -N1,455,335.00) per annum
iv.   Lecturer II       MUASSS 3   (N908,301,00 – N1,085,114.00) per annum
v.   Senior Librarian   MUASSS 4   (N1,133,550.00 -N1,455,335.00) per annum
vi.   Librarian I       MUASSS 3     (N908,301,00 – N1,085,114.00) per annum

The referees’ reports should be sealed and submitted along with the application.
Two of the referees must be authorities in the candidate’s area of specialization. The post applied for and Department must be indicated at the top left corner of the sealed envelope containing the application.
