The Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) is a non-governmental, humanitarian organization with 60 years of experience in helping to create a safer and more dignified life for refugees and internally displaced people. NRC advocates for the rights of displaced populations and offers assistance within the shelter, emergency food security, and water, sanitation and hygiene sectors.We are recruiting to fill the vacant position below:

Job Title: Food Security Assistant
Location: Damasak, Borno
Reports to: The Food Security Officer.

Tasks and Responsibilities
Generic Responsibilities:

• Adhere to NRC policies, tools, handbooks and guidelines
• Ensure that procurement, development and distribution of materials and equipment are timely and accordance with the procedures
• Involve and inform communities and community leaders about the activities
• Investigate and facilitate introduction of new technology, method and approaches in order to improve the quality of the activities
• Assist with the implementation of the support function portfolio according to plan of action
• Prepare and develop status reports as required by management
• Ensure proper filing of documents
• Promote and share ideas for improvement of the support function

Specific Responsibilities:

• Together with Food Security Officers, the Assistants will be responsible for the implementation of food security activities on the field – food vouchers, income generating activities and backyard vegetable gardens.
• Involve and inform communities and community leaders about the activities
• Coordinate with relevant partners
• Facilitate the distribution of materials and equipment according to procedures
• Prepare weekly progress reports and other documents as required
• Carry out the selection of project beneficiaries
• Data collection for project monitoring and evaluation.
• Coordinate the food security activities according to strategy, proposals, budgets and plans

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 years of experience of project implementation in humanitarian/recovery contexts;
• Degree in Agricultural Field or any related field
• Knowledge about own leadership skills/profile;
• Fluency in English, both written and verbal;
• Fluency in Kanuri would be an added advantage
• Knowledge on Microsoft office excel, word, power point e.t.c
• Documented results related to the position’s responsibilities;
