Job Title: Livelihoods Officer
Location: Borno
Job Role
- To support the implementation of FSL component of the project. More specifically, assist in the improvement of livelihood programs. S/he is principally responsible for the implementation of the Micro gardening project.
Main Responsibilities:
- Work with the livelihood coordinator to support field level technical assessments on livelihoods. This will be done in coordination with the FSL Manager and other SC thematic areas and/or other external sector agencies, ensuring assessment findings are documented and that all assessments include a specific analysis of children’s needs.
- Work with the livelihood coordinator to develop livelihood project plans and budgets, contributing towards an overall project implementation.
- Work with the livelihood coordinator, FSL Manager, and other senior programme staff in developing high-quality concept notes and proposals.
- With the support of Livelihood Coordinator, support livelihood project implementation to ensure timely delivery of project activities (for example, monitoring against log frames, individual performance management work plans).
- Identify emerging issues related to the livelihood programme and make recommendations for further solution.
- In collaboration with project and partner staff, train enumerators on program component, its implementation and prepare narrative report of activities carried out.
- Working closely with the FSL Manager, livelihood coordinator and/or other senior programme staff, support timely programme and donor reports on project activities in compliance with internal SC requirements and any relevant external donor requirements.
- With support from the livelihood coordinator identify programme supplies needs and coordinate with the logistics team to put in place a sensible phased procurement plan.
- With support from the Monitoring & Evaluation team support the M & E plan implementation within the FSL projects, ensuring this links to reporting requirements, and capacity build technical field staff in carrying out the work.
- With support from the Accountability Lead ensure accountability is enforced in all project activities as well as ensuring that feedback from children and their families is considered in project design/implementation
- With support from the community mobilization lead ensure effective and efficient information sharing to relevant stakeholders and continuous programme sensitization.
- Work closely with partners and their staff to ensure project activities are implemented on time and within the stipulated quality.
- To ensure that the minimum standards of humanitarian relief are maintained in accordance with the Sphere Charter and Red Cross Code of Conduct.

- Identify learning and training opportunities for partner staff and communicate this to the programme manager or FSL Manager.

- Ensure that Save the Children’s work is coordinated with the efforts of other agencies and Government, and support Interagency Coordination forums, advocating for the specific needs of children. Job Title: Child Protection Case Worker (Volunteer)
Location: Borno, Chabbal, Gongolon, Dusman and Dallori communities
Job Role:
- The Child Protection Case Worker has the responsibility to initiate, oversee and support the implementation of child protection strategies and activities at the camp/community level. The CP Case Worker will be responsible for implementing the work of and providing guidance to the Community on Child Protection activities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Represent SCI in the field, with professionalism, honesty and commitment
- Interview potential CP cases documenting interview prior to referral to relevant service providers.
- Implement program objectives, strategies and activities in agreement with local customs
- Identify child protection cases for assessments, home visits and follow-ups
- Assist the Child Protection officer in carrying out interviews with children.
- Filling in the relevant monitoring tools for the individual cases management of the of UASC and other vulnerable children accordingly
- Identify high priority cases requiring referrals and report to CP officer as they arise for necessary referral
- Facilitate the implementation of a mobilization strategy for community structures and target beneficiaries
- Mobilize community structures as required
- Participate in training courses and meetings for the community structures and fill the relevant monitoring tools
- Attend camp/community level staff and planning meetings monthly
- Give information to the beneficiaries on the services provided by SCI
- Facilitate the setup of Foster parents and referral systems to respond to protection issues
- Comply with all relevant save the children policies and procedures with respect to child protection, health and safety and other relevant policies

Qualification/ Experience:

Job Title: Child-Friendly Space Facilitator (Volunteer)
Location: Borno, Chabbal, Gongolon, Dusman and Dallori communities
Job Role:
- The Child-Friendly Space Facilitator has the responsibility to initiate, oversee and support the implementation of child protection strategies and CFS activities at the camp/community centre level. The CFS Facilitator will be responsible for coordinating children’s participation, activities the work of and providing guidance to the Community Structures and Children on Child protection, child rights and children’s forums.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide training and orientation for Child-Friendly Space animators on setting up and managing a Child-Friendly Space/centres, child rights, child participation, child protection (including the Child Safeguarding Policy), and provide ongoing support and mentoring to practice these concepts to volunteers and animators
- Compile timely quantitative and qualitative updated data and reports using designated monitoring tools and forward to child protection in emergencies officers
- In coordination with the Child Protection team members, support regular participatory activities with different groups of children to identify issues affecting children in their communities, and assist the teams to develop appropriate responses
- Report general protection issues present in the operational areas to the field based Child protection team
- Screen for and monitor protection needs and gaps in and around the Child-Friendly Spaces/centres
- Supervise the animators working in the Child-Friendly Spaces/centre on a regular basis, ensuring that activities are implemented in an appropriate manner
- Ensure a safe and child-friendly atmosphere in the Child-Friendly Space/centre
- Ensure that equipment inventories are up to date and that replacement needs are highlighted.
- Ensure internal referral systems are followed when Child protection cases are identified within the CFS/centre.
- With the assistance of the animators conduct a daily visual assessment of the children and ensure a variety of structured games and activities within the Child-Friendly Space/centre, catering to the needs of children of different ages, genders, and abilities
- Ensure that health and safety regulations are understood and followed and that health and safety incidents are logged
- Contribute to the design of an overall programme contingency plan
- In the event of a sudden influx facilitate the contingency plan process
- Assist the animators in solving problems arising in the Child-Friendly Spaces/centre
- Assist the animators in working with children to develop new, creative activities as appropriate
- Ensure the participation of all groups of children, especially children who are the most vulnerable
- Ensure that all actors(officers, other child protection workers and community structures) are involved in promoting child participation in the child-friendly spaces/centre
- Assist the animators in conducting parents’ and community meetings aimed at strengthening child-friendly activities.
- Screen for and monitor protection needs and gaps in and around the Child Friendly Spaces/centres
- Ensure CPC meetings and activities are held within the CFS
- Attend camp/centre level meetings
- Develop weekly work plans in consultation with direct reports
- Produce timely progress reports, including both quantitative and qualitative regarding CFS activities and attendance
- Perform any other duties as requested by CP Officer
