The Programme:

  • In Nigeria, the GIZ funded Green Innovation Centre for the Agriculture and Food Sector supports actors along with the four agricultural value chains maize, cassava, rice and Irish potato, with the aim to improve the income and productivity of small-scale farmers, to create employment opportunities and to foster entrepreneurial development.
  • The target group of the project in Nigeria are smallholder farmers and micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) upstream and downstream of the value chains. A strong focus lies on the promotion and empowerment of women and youth in the sector.

The Position:
Tasks of Expert:

  • Review, evaluation and preparation of existing research results for the selected value chains
  • Development, production and updating of illustrated training materials/media for government, private enterprises and service institutions.
  • Compilation of content for the integration of innovations in curricula of vocational schools and training centres
  • Organisation and implementation of further training for governmental and non-governmental training institutions, corporate service providers and vocational schools
  • Compilation of content for web-based training and guidance materials
  • Develop ICT-based media for the dissemination of advisory content on value chain promotion (agricultural production, harvesting, post-harvest management, processing, marketing, entrepreneurship, financial services).
  • Cooperation in the supervision of partners and in the quality management of the training for the target group
  • Contributions to the reporting of the CO
  • Support in the supervision of events, trade fair appearances project-accompanying investigations and evaluations of the client

The Person:

  • Education/training: Academic Degree or Professional Certificate in Agricultural Extension, Education or comparable subject
  • Languages: Knowledge of English, C1 in the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages
  • General professional experience: 7 years of work experience in developing curricula and training materials for target groups, enterprises and delivery through agricultural extension agencies and governmental and non-governmental business service providers
  • Specific professional experience: 5 years of professional experience in vocational education and training measures with a large number of participants; 2 years of work experience in curriculum development for governmental and non-governmental corporate service providers; 3 years of work experience with the promotion of entrepreneurship.
