Job Description

  • Chief of WASH, who under the overall guidance of the Management, is accountable for the development, policy design, planning, programme innovation, implementation and management of a WASH programme within a UNICEF country programme.
  • Programme management and oversight, including strategy, planning and M&E
  • Sector coordination
  • Knowledge of various aspects of WASH programming
  • The role as head of section includes directing, leading and managing a group of professional and supporting staff to develop, manage and administer the sectoral or inter-sectoral project/programme.

Qualifications of Successful Candidates
Academic Qualification:

  • Advanced university degree in one of the disciplines relevant to the following areas: Public Health, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Geology, Hydrology, Sanitation Engineering, Social Sciences or a field relevant to international WASH related development assistance.

Work Experience:

  • Eight years of progressively responsible professional work experience in the UN or other international development organization, national government or the private sector. Field work experience.

Language:

  • Fluency in English (written and oral) is required.
  • Knowledge of another UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, Spanish) is a strong asset.
