We are recruiting to fill the position below:<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Job Title:\u00a0<\/strong><strong>Data Manager<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Location:<\/strong>\u00a0Ibadan,\u00a0<span dir=\"ltr\">Oyo<\/span><br \/>\n<strong>Ref:<\/strong> IITA-HR-NRS2020-018<br \/>\n<strong><span dir=\"ltr\">Recruitment Type:\u00a0<\/span><\/strong><span dir=\"ltr\">National (<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">2<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">&#8211;<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">year renewable contract)<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Duties:<\/strong><br \/>\n<span dir=\"ltr\">Successful candidate will among other things perform the following duties:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span dir=\"ltr\">Monitor, supervise<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">,<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">screen, maint<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">ain<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">and\u00a0<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">analyz<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">e<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">data<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">for the cassava breeding\u00a0<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">unit<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">;<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span dir=\"ltr\">Carry out analysis of experimental data such as: analysis of variance for\u00a0<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">comparing genotype performance for single location and multi<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">&#8211;<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">environment GXE\u00a0<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">trials using standard applications in S<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">AS, R, and GGEBiplot software<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span dir=\"ltr\">Develop appropriate selection indices for rapid advancement of cassava breeding\u00a0<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">trials including rapid data processing from harvest to selection to accommodate\u00a0<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">the perishable nature of cassava planting material<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span dir=\"ltr\">Work closely\u00a0<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">with molecular geneticist and biometricians to integrate field and\u00a0<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">molecular data for genetic mapping studies<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span dir=\"ltr\">Backstop research supervisors in development of experimental designs to apply\u00a0<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">appropriate statistical model for analysis<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span dir=\"ltr\">Prepare periodic status\u00a0<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">summaries on data analysis activities<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span dir=\"ltr\">Contribute to preparation of reports, publications and visual presentation of\u00a0<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">analysis results<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span dir=\"ltr\">Contribute to international cassava database development for NEXTGEN cassava\u00a0<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">Project<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span dir=\"ltr\">Contribute to the adoption of field data collection systems including the use of\u00a0<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">electronic devices and provide training to the cassava breeding community on the\u00a0<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">use of t<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">hese devices<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span dir=\"ltr\">Contribute to development and maintenance of IITA cassava breeding database\u00a0<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">including curation of pedigrees, clone names, genotypic and phenotypic data<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span dir=\"ltr\">Conduct capacity development regarding data management and analysis for\u00a0<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">cassava breeding\u00a0<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">staff, NARs partners, and other cassava partners<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span dir=\"ltr\">Provide backstopping support to IITA hub breeding regarding data management\u00a0<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">and analysis<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span dir=\"ltr\">Represent IITA at international meetings on data management<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span dir=\"ltr\">Responsible for development and maintenance of cassava\u00a0<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">ontologies<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span dir=\"ltr\">Integration of CG core meta data schema into cassavabase.org<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span dir=\"ltr\">Perform any other job<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">&#8211;<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">related task as may be assigned by the supervisor<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span dir=\"ltr\"><strong>Qualification:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span dir=\"ltr\">Master<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">\u2019<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">s in Computer Science,\u00a0<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">Statistics or Agricultural Science\u00a0<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">o<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">r related field;<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span dir=\"ltr\">With\u00a0<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">minimum of\u00a0<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">six\u00a0<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">(<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">6<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">) years\u2019 experience in<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">\u00a0data management for a plant breeding program in\u00a0<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">a\u00a0<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">well<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">&#8211;<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">structured environment or donor funded organization.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span dir=\"ltr\"><strong>Competencies:<\/strong><\/span><br \/>\n<span dir=\"ltr\">The ideal candidate must:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span dir=\"ltr\">Be proficient in the use of MS Access, MS Excel, statistic<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">al packages (SAS,\u00a0<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">STATA, SPSS, R, METAR, AGDR, GEAR, PBTOOL, GenStat, ASREML,\u00a0<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">GBEBiplot), computer programming languages (JAVA), DMBS (POSTGRESQL).,\u00a0<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">ontologies tools (OBO Edit) and Prot\u00e9g\u00e9.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span dir=\"ltr\">Have\u00a0<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">good\u00a0<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">understanding of experimental design, statistics and its<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">\u00a0principle in\u00a0<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">plant breeding and agronomy practices as required.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span
