Working with various partners across sub-Saharan Africa, we improve livelihoods, enhance food and nutrition security, increase employment, and preserve natural resource integrity. IITA is a member of CGIAR, a global agriculture research partnership for a food secure future. We are recruiting to fill the position below:<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Job Title:\u00a0<\/strong><strong>Senior Agronomist<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Location:<\/strong>\u00a0Yola, Adamawa<br \/>\n<strong>Ref:<\/strong> IITA-HR-NRS2021-0019<br \/>\n<span dir=\"ltr\"><strong>Recruitment Type:<\/strong>\u00a0<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">National (<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">1<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">&#8211;<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">year renewable contract)<\/span><br \/>\n<strong>Duties:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span dir=\"ltr\">Successful candidate will among other things perform the following duties:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span dir=\"ltr\">Facilitate partnerships with dissemination (extension) and market partners.\u00a0<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">Provide strategic support in a wide variety of areas including value chain\u00a0<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">development and upgrading\u00a0<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">strategies, improving access to agricultural inputs,\u00a0<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">access to agricultural extension, and marketing<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">;<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span dir=\"ltr\">Oversee and co<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">&#8211;<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">ordinate all agronomical and technical field activities carried out\u00a0<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">by stakeholders (small holder farmers, community<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">&#8211;<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">based seed producers, p<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">artner\u00a0<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">seed companies etc.) and provide necessary agronomical technical backstopping\u00a0<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">to them in the two target states (Adamawa and Borno)<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">;<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span dir=\"ltr\">Provide leadership in designing, planning and implementation of demonstrations\u00a0<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">of soil, crop and livestock management\u00a0<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">technologies in farming communities<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">;<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span dir=\"ltr\">Provide necessary inputs into the Activity\u2019s annual workplan (especially on\u00a0<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">Component 1) and prepare quarterly\/annual workplan performance report<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">;<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span dir=\"ltr\">Strengthen seed production systems for cereal and legume crops in North<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">east\u00a0<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">Nigeria.
