We are recruiting tfill the position of:<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Job Title: Health Sector GBV &#8211; Response Developing Consultant<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Location:<\/strong>\u00a0Abuja<br \/>\n<strong>Reports To:<\/strong> RMNCH Technical Director, Director GASHE Department, FMOH<\/p>\n<p><strong>Overview:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Violence against women also known as gender-based violence or sexual and gender-based violence are violent acts committed primarily or exclusively against women because they are females and can take several forms.<\/li>\n<li>This includes rape, marital rape, domestic violence, acid throwing, reproductive coercion, dating abuse, stalking, sexual harassment, human trafficking and forced prostitution. The most common acts of violence in Nigeria are physical violence, rape, sexual harassment, harmful traditional practices including Female Genital Mutilation [FGM].<\/li>\n<li>Gender-Based Violence (GBV) is a global pandemic and is increasingly being recognized around the world as a grave challenge to public health and development.<\/li>\n<li>This gross act of cruelty causes substantial mortality and morbidity, due to mental, physical, sexual and reproductive health impacts, leading to increased risky behavior. Sadly, despite the fact that GBV and interpersonal violence are preventable, we have not been able to eradicate these atrocious acts from communities.<\/li>\n<li>GBV remains pervasive in Nigeria exacerbated by negative social norms, the culture of silence and misconceptions around Violence against Women and Girls (VAWG). The incidence of GBV in Nigeria has risen in the past decade owing to the insurgency in the North East with women and girls either raped, abducted or abducted and raped all together and more recently worsen by the Covid-19 pandemic, the shadow pandemic.<\/li>\n<li>The Federal Ministry of Health [FMoH] has concluded plans to develop a health sector specific GBV Action Plan. The ministry\u2019s commitment to the development of the National Health Sector GBV Action Plan recognizes the need for a gender-responsive strategy implementation in Nigeria.<\/li>\n<li>This gender-responsive action plan therefore, will clearly outline evidence-based activities needed to be implemented to ensure that survivor-centered post GBV services are provided across all health facilities in the country.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Purpose of Assignment:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The Federal Ministry of Health and partners require the services of a consultant to lead the process of developing a health sector response to gender-based violence (GBV) action plan for Nigeria.<\/li>\n<li>The scope of the assignment will involve streamlining the delivery of quality health interventions to survivors of GBV and ensure its ongoing prevention.**<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Responsibilities:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>To work with the Federal Ministry of Health, Division of Gender, Adolescent School Health and Elderly (GASHE) for guidance and leadership throughout the assignment.<\/li>\n<li>Lead the development of the GBV action plan<\/li>\n<li>Conduct a comprehensive GBV program stakeholder mapping in Nigeria<\/li>\n<li>Carry out a rapid assessment as part of a comprehensive health sector GBV program implementation situational analysis<\/li>\n<li>To draft 10-year health sector GBV plan of action that will enhance on clinical management and prevention of GBV in Nigeria and share with stakeholders for review and input.<\/li>\n<li>To facilitate\/support all Stakeholders meeting\/workshop that will review the national action plan.<\/li>\n<li>To finalize the health sector GBV action plan and lead the validation meeting following inputs from the stakeholders\u2019 during workshop<\/li>\n<li>Submit a validated copy of the GBV action plan ready for printing<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Qualifications:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Minimum 5 years\u2019 experience in GBV programming<\/li>\n<li>University Degree, preferably in one of the following: International Development, Social Sciences, Gender Studies, Public Health.<\/li>\n<li>Post-graduate degree in Gender Studies, International Development, Social Sciences, Public Health is desirable.<\/li>\n<li>Previous Experience in developing gender policies, GBV action plan.<\/li>\n<li>Experience in engaging with government at State or Federal level<\/li>\n<li>Cognate experience in GBV programming<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Competencies:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Good knowledge of MS Office packages etc.<\/li>\n<li>Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work under pressure and collaboratively in a team.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>To Apply:<\/b><br \/>\nInterested and qualified candidates should send their updated CV and Cover Letter as One Single Word Document to:\u00a0<strong><a href=\"mailto:ng-recruitment@jhpiego.org\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">ng-recruitment@jhpiego.org<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0using \u201cHealth Sector GBV-Response Developing Consultant&#8221; as the subject of the email.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Application Deadline: <\/strong>18th January, 2022.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Note:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>CV and Cover Letter as ONE SINGLE WORD document.<\/li>\n<li>The title\/subject of your email and application should be the position you are applying for.<\/li>\n<li>Candidates that do not comply with the application instruction will be disqualified.<\/li>\n<li>We reserve the right to close this vacancy early if a suitable candidate is found.<\/li>\n<li>Only shortlisted candidates will receive an invitation for an interview<\/li>\n<li>Any successful candidate will be subject to a pre-employment background investigation.<\/li>\n<li>There will be travel requirements and opportunities both within Nigeria.<\/li>\n<li>JHU is an Equal Opportunity Employer<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Jhpiego, an Affiliate of Johns Hopkins University, is a global leader in improving healthcare services for women and their families.
