Waza is live in Nigeria and Ghana and are scaling into new markets in the next few months. We are a small team of highly motivated individuals comprising of former founders, 10x engineers, business and legal professionals, building towards making global B2B payments easy and accessible. We are recruiting to fill the position below:<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Job Title: Finance Controller<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Location:<\/strong>\u00a0Lagos<br \/>\n<strong>Employment Type:<\/strong> Full-time<br \/>\n<strong>Department<\/strong>: Finance<\/p>\n<p><strong>The role<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>We are looking for a Financial Controller to join our fast-growing team. The Financial Controller will be responsible for managing all financial aspects of the company, including accounting, management reporting, financial planning, and risk management, to ensure the company&#8217;s financial health and compliance.<\/li>\n<li>You will play a pivotal role in managing our financial operations and strategy.<\/li>\n<li>Your expertise in the Fintech Industry, FX, Crypto and Cross-border payments will be crucial in steering our financial stability, driving informed decision-making and working closely with our Treasury and Sales team to contribute to the company&#8217;s growth by providing accurate financial insights and driving process improvements<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>We are excited to get to know you if you can<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Oversee day-to-day financial operations, including accounting, invoicing, payables, and receivables, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and adherence to financial best practices. You are able to record and manage daily financial transactions using accounting software like Quickbooks, etc<\/li>\n<li>Prepare and present regular financial reports, highlighting key performance indicators, financial trends, and insights to support strategic decision-making.<\/li>\n<li>Assist with audits and the preparation of year-end financial statements for internal and external use.<\/li>\n<li>Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards, tax regulations, and other financial requirements<\/li>\n<li>Develop and maintain budgets, financial forecasts, and performance metrics in collaboration with cross-functional teams &#8211; while ensuring that financial projections align with business objectives.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>You might be an excellent fit if you have<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A Bachelor&#8217;s or Master&#8217;s Degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field. Professional certification (e.g., CPA, CMA) is a plus<\/li>\n<li>3+ years of progressive experience in financial management, with a track record of success in startups, fintech, payments, or other high-growth technology sectors<\/li>\n<li>Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial analysis, and reporting. Experience with financial modeling, budgeting, and forecasting.<\/li>\n<li>An entrepreneurial-mind with a knack for solving problems and establishing processes.<\/li>\n<li>A proven track record of meeting and exceeding performance expectations .<\/li>\n<li>Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Quickbooks, Xero) and excellent attention to detail and accuracy<\/li>\n<li>Strong understanding of the financial industry, with an emphasis on fintech products and services.<\/li>\n<li>Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities, with experience in presenting financial data to non-financial stakeholders<\/li>\n<li>Adaptability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic startup environment. Your basic qualifications, compatibility for the role, and, more importantly, your cultural fit will be assessed. Feel free to ask any questions you may have at this stage.<\/li>\n<li>Technical Assessment: If the initial interview goes well, we will provide you with a technical take-home or co-working project.
