It is capable of producing an average of over one million barrels of oil equivalent per day. The company&#8217;s operations are concentrated in the Niger Delta and adjoining shallow offshore areas where it operates in an oil mining lease area of around 30,000 square kilometres.\u00a0This is a technically challenging work environment characterised by a continuing need for research, the pursuit of new technology, and the adoption of new ways of working. It demands people who will thrive in a culture that encourages and rewards innovation, collaboration and the ability to learn from success as well as failure.\u00a0Royal Dutch Shell, which sits on an oil and gas throne that is only slightly lower than that of #1 oil company Exxon Mobil, has worldwide proved reserves of 14.2 billion barrels of oil equivalent. Most of the oil giant&#8217;s crude is produced in Nigeria, Oman, the UK, and the US. Royal Dutch Shell is also investing heavily in the Athabasca Oil Sands Project, which converts oil sands in Alberta to synthetic oil. The company operates 43,000 gas stations (the world&#8217;s largest retail fuel network).
