{"id":23427,"date":"2013-12-17T00:58:23","date_gmt":"2013-12-16T23:58:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/joblistnigeria.com\/?p=23427"},"modified":"2014-01-25T19:51:17","modified_gmt":"2014-01-25T18:51:17","slug":"graduate-programme-analyst-federal-ministry-youth-development-osun-state","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/joblistnigeria.com\/graduate-programme-analyst-federal-ministry-youth-development-osun-state.html","title":{"rendered":"Graduate Programme Analyst at Federal Ministry of Youth Development &#8211; Osun State"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Following the approval of His Excellency, President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan and in line with youth empowerment programme thrust under the Transformation Agenda of Mr. President, the Federal Ministry of Youth Development (FMYD) in conjunction with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) invite applications from suitably qualified young Nigerians to participate in the Junior Professional Officers\u2019 Programme (JPO-P)<\/p>\n<div>The Junior Professional Officers\u2019 Programme (JPO-P) was established in 1963 to provide young professionals pursuing a career in development with hands-on experience in multilateral technical cooperation. It is funded with donations from donor countries. Currently, there are 19 sponsors comprising 16 countries from Europe and 3 from Asia. The programme is administered by the JPO Service Center in Copenhagen. Denmark and initially for one year with possibility of extension for another one year, depending on satisfactory performance making a total of two years objective of the programme<br \/>\n<strong><br \/>\n<\/strong><strong>Job Title: Programme Analyst<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>State of Origin:<\/strong>\u00a0Osun State<br \/>\nAgency: UN WOMEN<br \/>\nSector of assignment: Strategic Partnerships\/Resource Mobilisation<br \/>\n<strong>Country and Duty Station:<\/strong>\u00a0New York City, U.S.A<br \/>\nDuration of assignment: One Year Renewable based on satisfactory performance<\/p>\n<p><strong>General Information<\/strong><br \/>\nSector of assignment: Strategic Partnerships\/Resource Mobilisation<br \/>\nCountry and Duty Station: New York City, U.S.A<br \/>\nDuration of assignment: One Year Renewable based on satisfactory performance<br \/>\n<strong><br \/>\nContent and methodology of supervision<\/strong><br \/>\nThe JPO will work under the supervision of the Director and in close collaboration with the Resource Mobilisation, Communications and Advocacy, and Civil Society sections within the Strategic Partnerships, Advocacy, Civil Society, Communications, and Resource Mobilisation Division at UN Women HQ in New York. Daily contact between the Supervisor and JPO will be maintained and the JPO will be expected to participate in the Division&#8217;s weekly meetings. Regular sessions will be organised in order to review progress achieved against the agreed work plan formulated at the beginning of the assignment.<br \/>\n<strong><br \/>\nDuties, Responsibilities and Output Expectations<\/strong><br \/>\nAssist the Director in ensuring the Division&#8217;s annual work plan targets are met, with a special focus on private sector partnerships<\/p>\n<p>50 per cent of the duties would include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Support the Director in the performance of her functions, including by the provision of inputs on the strategic management of the Division, liaising closely with in-house sections as well as key partners and stakeholders.<\/li>\n<li>Ensure the timely follow-up to the Division&#8217;s directives, including the effective dissemination of pertinent information to senior management and other relevant staff at Headquarters and in other offices.<\/li>\n<li>Keep track of and evaluate important events, meetings and advising the Director of priorities and critical meetings requiring her presence and making necessary arrangements for her participation including the preparation of papers, policies, etc.,<\/li>\n<li>Prepare outline and\/or draft papers, speeches and talking points for the Director. Prepare briefing folders and research for all background papers that are necessary for the Director&#8217;s meetings. Provide editorial assistance by drafting, clearing and editing speeches, reports and correspondence.<\/li>\n<li>Assist in the follow-up to meetings, including the preparation of relevant notes, as appropriate.<\/li>\n<li>Provide support to the Senior Management Team (SMT) meetings and retreats, including preparation of agenda and minutes, ensuring the timely submission and circulation of relevant background documents and reports.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>50 per cent of the duties would include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Assist in the development of strategic partnerships with the private sector by outreach, messaging and products to support and strengthen the investment case for UN Women and gender equality.<\/li>\n<li>Support the development of tailored resource mobilisations packages to attract the right partnerships on specific issues, campaigns and events.<\/li>\n<li>Work with the Division&#8217;s communications and media teams to support the development high quality materials to keep donors well-informed of UN Women programmes, initiatives, &#8220;success stories&#8221; and results.<\/li>\n<li>Liaising with programme units, assist in the development and maintenance of proposals which match private sector donor interests and\/or requirements.<\/li>\n<li>Perform other official duties and special assignments which may be requested by the Director.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Qualifications and Experience<\/strong><br \/>\nEducation (only Master&#8217;s degree or equivalent):<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Master&#8217;s degree in Business Administration, Communications or International Relations.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Work Experience (at least 1 to 2 years relevant work experience):<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>At least 2 years of relevant professional experience in resource mobilisation, communications, advocacy, public relations, and\/or donor relations.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Work experience in gender equality issues, particularly in developing countries, an asset.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Age: Must not be more than 32 years on the date of application<\/li>\n<li>Information Technology skills, including word processing, database application (excel) presentation software (power point) and internet appreciation.<\/li>\n<li>An interest in adapting to varied physical environments; and a desire to work with people with different language, national and cultural backgrounds;<\/li>\n<li>Evidence of ability to think strategically, work independently and demonstrate a sense of self-assuredness.<\/li>\n<li>Respect for the UN principles of the United Nations Charter and the participating UN organisation\u2019s mission statement<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Key competencies of the assignment<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Outstanding oral and written English communication skills<\/li>\n<li>Strong analytical and research skills<\/li>\n<li>Very strong organisational and planning skills<\/li>\n<li>Demonstrates very good understanding of and experience in communications and outreach<\/li>\n<li>Team-worker: capacity to build and foster teamwork; and establish harmonious working relationships in a multicultural environment.<\/li>\n<li>Proven networking skills, and ability to generate interest in UN Women;<\/li>\n<li>Ability to work well under pressure and to meet deadlines;<\/li>\n<li>Works positively to built team morale and consensus;<\/li>\n<li>Good IT skills;<\/li>\n<li>Familiarity with gender issues an important asset;<\/li>\n<li>Knowledge of other UN official languages is an asset.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Learning Expectations<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Upon completion of the assignment, the JPO would have:<\/li>\n<li>Gained a deeper understanding of the UN and its role and functions;<\/li>\n<li>Gained competencies within the area of gender equality and women&#8217;s empowerment at a global policymaking level<\/li>\n<li>Learned to understand and navigate a diverse, international working environment<\/li>\n<li>Gained experience at an organisation&#8217;s strategic management level<\/li>\n<li>(Further) developed his\/her skills in fundraising and networking with
