The Council\u2019s major program areas are HIV&amp;AIDS, Reproductive Health and Poverty, Gender, and Youth. The Council conducts biomedical, social science and public health research and helps build research capacities in developing countries The Population Council works in collaboration with a broad range of Nigerian institutions.<\/p>\n<p>Due to the expansion of its programs, the Council is seeking qualified individuals to fill the following position:<br \/>\n<strong><br \/>\nJob Title: Intern (Knowledge Management and Advocacy)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Number of Slots: \u2013 3<br \/>\n<strong>Location:<\/strong>\u00a0Nigeria<\/p>\n<p><strong>Responsibilities<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The Intern (Knowledge Management and Advocacy) will work closely with the Deputy Director for Knowledge Management and Advocacy and relate with other members of the research and programs groups to ensure smooth implementation of an ambitious programme of documentation and sharing of learning from the Council\u2019s project on asset building and safe spaces for adolescent girls in six states across Northern Nigeria.<\/li>\n<li>S\/he will support documentation of project activities: help develop briefs and project materials staff, partners, stakeholder, and public dissemination; capacity building and engagement of media and other groups on use of information\/data for understanding, reporting on adolescent girls issues: and generating reports for internal Council and donor use.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Requirements<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A degree in Social Sciences, Communications, Education and\/or Research<\/li>\n<li>Good writing and research skills<\/li>\n<li>Good use of the Microsoft office programmes, especially Word and PowerPoint<\/li>\n<li>Some Desktop Publishing experience desirable<\/li>\n<li>The ability to multitask and pay attention to details<\/li>\n<li>Understanding of the cultural context of northern Nigeria\/willingness to travel around the region<\/li>\n<li>Fluency in Hausa a strong plus<\/li>\n<li>Previous experience working with adolescent girls and with groups at community level<\/li>\n<li>Demonstrated interest in development issues, advocacy and communication.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Application Closing Date<\/strong><br \/>\n11th February, 2014<\/p>\n<p><strong>Method Of Application<\/strong><br \/>\nInterested and qualified candidates should send their applications (clearly stating current salary and salary expectations) and CVs to:\u00a0<a href=\"mailto:nigeria@popcouncil.org\"><strong>nigeria@popcouncil.org<\/strong><\/a>.
