This would be achieved through the sponsorship of outstanding students for postgraduate studies in the top 25 universities in the world. To this end, the Federal Government has instituted the Presidential Special Scholarship Scheme for Innovation and Development.<\/span><br style=\"color: #000033;\" \/><br style=\"color: #000033;\" \/><span style=\"color: #000033;\">To this end, the Federal Government has instituted the Presidential Special Scholarship Scheme for Innovation and Development (PRESSID). The Scheme, which sponsors graduates that have obtained First Class Honours degrees from any recognized and approved university; was established in January 2012 and has awarded a total of two hundred and five (205) scholarships under two editions (the 201312014 and 201412015 academic sessions).<\/span><br style=\"color: #000033;\" \/><br style=\"color: #000033;\" \/><strong style=\"color: #000033;\">National Universities Commission (NUC) Presidential Special Scholarship Scheme 2014\/2015 Academic Session<\/strong><br style=\"color: #000033;\" \/><br style=\"color: #000033;\" \/><span style=\"color: #000033;\">The PRESSID Implementation Committee now invites applications from qualified candidates for the third edition of the scheme (2014\/2015 academic session).<\/span><br style=\"color: #000033;\" \/><br style=\"color: #000033;\" \/><strong style=\"color: #000033;\">CALL FOR APPLICATIONS FOR THE THIRD EDITION OF PRESSID<\/p>\n<p><\/strong><strong style=\"color: #000033;\">Eligibility Criteria for the Scheme<\/strong><br style=\"color: #000033;\" \/><br style=\"color: #000033;\" \/><span style=\"color: #000033;\">Interested candidates should:<\/span><br style=\"color: #000033;\" \/><strong style=\"color: #000033;\">1.)<\/strong><span style=\"color: #000033;\">\u00a0Be graduates from the 2011\/2012 and 2012\/2013 academic sessions, who would have completed their National Youth Service (NYSC) by October 2014;<\/span><br style=\"color: #000033;\" \/><br style=\"color: #000033;\" \/><strong style=\"color: #000033;\">2.)<\/strong><span style=\"color: #000033;\">\u00a0Have obtained First Class Honours degree from any recognised and approved University in the following disciplines and aim at postgraduate degrees in the specified and allied disciplines:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul style=\"color: #000033;\">\n<li><strong>Sciences:<\/strong>\u00a0Nuclear Physics, Operations Research, Industrial Chemistry, Quantitative Genetics, Biometrics, Molecular Biology, etc<\/li>\n<li><strong>Medicine:<\/strong>\u00a0Clinical Sciences, Dentistry, Oncology, Human Genetics, Forensic Medicine, Physiotherapy, Hepatology, Nuclear Medicine, Geriatrics, ophthalmology. etc.;<\/li>\n<li><strong>Veterinary Medicine:<\/strong>\u00a0Veterinary Parasitology, Theriogenology, Public Health, etc;<\/li>\n<li><strong>Basic Medical Sciences:<\/strong>\u00a0Biochemistry, Physiology, Dentistry, Anatomy, Medical Biochemistry, Human Nutrition, Nursing Science, Anatomic and Molecular Pathology, Biomedical Engineering, Medical Microbiology, Physiotherapy Pharmacology, etc;<\/li>\n<li><strong>Pharmaceutical Sciences:<\/strong>\u00a0Drug formulations, Natural products, Drug design, Phytochemistry, Ethnopharmacology, Pharmaceutical Microbiology, etc;<\/li>\n<li><strong>Accounting\/Actuarial Science:<\/strong>\u00a0Financial Accounting, Management Accounting, Forensic Accounting, Petroleum Accounting, Management Accounting, Environmental Accounting, etc;<\/li>\n<li><strong>Economics:<\/strong>\u00a0Econometrics, Development Economics, Micro Economics, Macro Economics, Applied Economics, Labour Economics, etc;<\/li>\n<li><strong>Engineering:<\/strong>\u00a0Aeronautical Engineering, Mechatronics, Control Systems, Material Science and Production Engineering, Nanotechnology, Process Engineering, Energy Systems Engineering, Refinery Design arid Operations, Subsea Engineering, Thermal Power (Gas Turbine Option), Reservoir Analysis, Drilling Optimization, Chemical Process Dynamics &amp; Control, Process Modelling and Simulations, etc;<\/li>\n<li><strong>Computing and Information Technology:\u00a0<\/strong>Intelligent Robotic Systems, Computer Systems and Software Engineering Computer Information Systems, information Technology, Artificial Intelligence, Cyber-Security, etc.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong style=\"color: #000033;\">Exceptions<\/strong><br style=\"color: #000033;\" \/><span style=\"color: #000033;\">In the case of Medicine, Veterinary Medicine and Pharmaceutical Sciences, candidates must have a minimum of 2 Distinctions in their Part 3 and Part 4 MBBS examinations or in their final results;
