You will work across a range of financial instruments, operating within very different markets and countries.<br \/>\nOur ambitious plans now mean we are looking for a highly experienced Fixed Income Trader<\/p>\n<p>Standard IBTC Bank is recruiting to fill the vacant position of:<br \/>\n<strong><br \/>\nJob Title: Head, Fixed Income Trading<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Job ID: 12657<br \/>\nLocation: Lagos Nigeria<br \/>\n<strong><br \/>\nPosition Description<\/strong><br \/>\nControl and co-ordinate the bank\u2019s Fixed Income positions created by sales and purchases to and from interbank and clients and manage the resulting market risk positions profitably and within agreed proprietary trading limits.<br \/>\n<strong><br \/>\nKey Job Mensurables\/Key Performance Areas<\/p>\n<p>1. Market Knowledge (economic fundamentals)<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Need to keep up to date with current global developments, including economical &amp; political<\/li>\n<li>In-depth knowledge of Dealing Systems and functions<\/li>\n<li>Up to date knowledge of Treasury and Fixed income Products<\/li>\n<li>Self-development and keeping up to date with latest market developments and technology<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>2. Manage &amp; Execute trading book\/Managing &amp; trading risk<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Develop and implement Fixed Income trading strategies in order to achieve agreed trading revenue<\/li>\n<li>Management of positions by either accessing the primary or interbank market to neutralise positions or running proprietary risk within limits signed off<\/li>\n<li>Anticipate and be alert to market related activities and changes<\/li>\n<li>Base decisions on short term and long term implications<\/li>\n<li>Act promptly to resolve problems that may arise<\/li>\n<li>Monitor movement and interest rate risk on bond holdings<\/li>\n<li>Monitor fixed Income positions and deciding when to trade<\/li>\n<li>Need to make instant decisions on fixed income rates quoted interbank and clients (via Corporate Dealers)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>3. Maximise profit for shareholders<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Speculative trading and daily trading of fixed income positions within limits to maximize profits<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>4. Interbank and stakeholder interfaces<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Continuous contact with the interbank market \u2013 in-country as well as with the Stanbic IBTC network<\/li>\n<li>Business development and networking internally and externally<\/li>\n<li>Communicate with all dealing room staff and relevant stakeholders within the bank.<\/li>\n<li>Prompt response to information requests from both external sources as well as Standard Bank \/ Stanbic Treasuries.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Required Skills and Qualifications<br \/>\nEducation<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A minimum of first degree or its equivalent (additional qualification or degree in any business related discipline would be an added advantage)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Experience<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Understand the principles and practice of fixed income products and markets and an intermediate understanding of other treasury products.<\/li>\n<li>A good understanding of macro economics and current economic trends<\/li>\n<li>A good appreciation and knowledge of Risk Management, covering Operational Risk, Market Risk and Credit Risk<\/li>\n<li>Treasury and Banking background<\/li>\n<li>At least 5 years experience in fixed income trading \/ dealing<\/li>\n<li>Computer literacy<\/li>\n<li>Mathematically inclined<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Required Competencies<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Personality Traits<\/li>\n<li>Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills<\/li>\n<li>Determination to succeed<\/li>\n<li>Ability to work under pressure<\/li>\n<li>Writing and reasoning skills<\/li>\n<li>Team player<\/li>\n<li>Trustworthy<\/li>\n<li>Accuracy<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Application Closing Date<\/strong><br \/>\n17th July, 2014<br \/>\n<strong><br \/>\nMethod of Application<\/strong><br \/>\nInterested and qualified candidates should<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/careers.peopleclick.com\/careerscp\/client_standardbank\/external\/jobDetails.do?functionName=getJobDetail&amp;jobPostId=25928&amp;localeCode=en-us\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Click here to apply online<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Standard IBTC Bank is a leading African banking group focused on emerging markets globally.
