{"id":26635,"date":"2016-05-16T15:24:08","date_gmt":"2016-05-16T14:24:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/joblistnigeria.com\/?p=26635"},"modified":"2016-05-16T15:24:08","modified_gmt":"2016-05-16T14:24:08","slug":"apata-ascott-limited-recruiting-an-accounting-officer","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/joblistnigeria.com\/apata-ascott-limited-recruiting-an-accounting-officer.html","title":{"rendered":"Apata &#038; Ascott Limited Recruiting an Accounting Officer"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Apata &amp; Ascott Limited<\/strong> is currently seeking to employ suitably qualified candidates to fill the position of<\/p>\n<p><strong>Job Title: Accounting Officer<br \/>\nLocation:<\/strong> Lagos<strong><br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Job Responsibilities<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Conduct thorough review of financial data, compare finances and identify anomalies, wastage, cost reduction opportunities and overall business improvement opportunities.<\/li>\n<li>Review financial documents, purchase orders, vouchers and invoices.<\/li>\n<li>Producing an accurate set of month-end accounts, with comparisons to forecasts and previous periods.<\/li>\n<li>Develop and supervise implementation of audit strategies\/ programmes for preventing and detecting fraud\/ wastages. This will include but not limited to: pre- and post- payment audit, material procurement, facilities management expenditures, project\/ construction expenditures, etc; and revenue assurance.<\/li>\n<li>Preparing profit and loss accounts and the balance sheet for senior management.<\/li>\n<li>Assisting in preparing budgets and business planning, including projected room revenue.<\/li>\n<li>Reconciling bank statements.<\/li>\n<li>Ensuring legislation is followed regarding VAT and PAYE.<\/li>\n<li>Ensure monthly management of account and financial report.<\/li>\n<li>Maintain overview of bank account level.<\/li>\n<li>Input of sales and purchases invoices, cross checking on billing.<\/li>\n<li>Prepare report for the monthly expenses, payment amount for reimbursements.<\/li>\n<li>Monthly reconciliation to ensure accuracy in payment.<\/li>\n<li>Assist in championing the hotel\u2019s aggressive cost reduction drive.<\/li>\n<li>Lead all efforts on safeguarding the hotel\u2019s revenue: i.e. preventing\/ avoiding revenue thefts and inadvertent revenue losses.<\/li>\n<li>Controlling payroll.<\/li>\n<li>Chasing late payments and reporting bad debt and keeping a careful eye on the cash flow.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Qualifications and Skills<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Bachelor&#8217;s Degree in Accountancy or equivalent from a reputable institution.<\/li>\n<li>Minimum of 1 year experience in same field in hospitality sector.<\/li>\n<li>Accountancy skills, ideally honed in a hospitality environment<\/li>\n<li>IT knowledge, including computerized systems and electronic cash tills<\/li>\n<li>Data processing skills, including spreadsheet packages<\/li>\n<li>Analytical and communication skills<\/li>\n<li>Unmatched attention to detail for preparing detailed financial information for senior management<\/li>\n<li>Excellent communication and customer friendly skills.<\/li>\n<li>Self-motivated and well organized.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>How to Apply<\/strong><br \/>\nInterested and qualified candidate should forward their up to date CV\u2019s &amp;
