AUN has a strong commitment to providing the skills and the leadership essential to solving the continent&#8217;s critical social and economic problems.<\/p>\n<p>AUN, Yola, is seeking for suitable qualified candidate to fill the position below. This position is a local position and opens to indigenous and\/or legal residents of Nigeria:<\/p>\n<p><b>Job Title: Cataloger<br \/>\nLocation: <\/b>Yola<br \/>\nDepartment: Digital Service<b><br \/>\nSummary of Position<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The cataloger is responsible for the cataloging aspects of preparing new materials to add to the digital services collections.<\/li>\n<li>When ordered materials are received, the cataloging assistant re-checks the bibliographic record against the item in hand, edits the record as necessary, and adds a bar code to the item.<\/li>\n<li>Also, He shall among others Performs original or copy cataloging of all forms of the digital services department\u2019s resources using the Koha library software.<\/li>\n<li>This includes retrieving matching bibliographic records for items from the OCLC system and saving and adding them to the Library\u2019s online public catalog. This is done as part of the order process, before items are ordered.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Position Requirements<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A Bachelor\u2019s degree in Library or Information Science with three years\u2019 experience in cataloging in a digitalized library setting.<\/li>\n<li>Ability to undertake self-directed tasks when necessary.<\/li>\n<li>Excellent time management skills.<\/li>\n<li>Attention to detail.<\/li>\n<li>Ability to supervise volunteers.<\/li>\n<li>Commitment to ongoing professional development.<\/li>\n<li>Experience using Koha and other automated library systems.<\/li>\n<li>Technological familiarity with computers, photocopiers, scanners and printers is desired.<\/li>\n<li>Excellent oral and written English communication skills.<\/li>\n<li>Intermediate to expert level competence with MS Office and database applications.<\/li>\n<li>Dependable and flexible with regard to hours.<\/li>\n<li>Enthusiasm, energy, accuracy, organization and service-orientation.<\/li>\n<li>Willingness and ability to learn new library procedures, ability to work independently and adapt to a fast-paced work environment.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Other requirements, abilities for the position:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Ability to maintain a conducive atmosphere for job productivity and satisfaction where team goals are aligned to meet library objectives.<\/li>\n<li>Be willing to work hard to identify alternatives to achieve objectives;<\/li>\n<li>Act to maintain a healthy sense of urgency.<\/li>\n<li>Strong supervisory and team building skills.<\/li>\n<li>Ability to communicate, share, evaluate and measure plans.<\/li>\n<li>Ability to experiment and take risks and responsibility for outcomes<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Description of Benefits<\/b><br \/>\nSalary and benefits are commensurate with experience and job classification as approved by the University.<\/p>\n<p><b><br \/>\nHow to Apply<\/b><br \/>\nInterested and qualified candidates should submit their resumes\/CV&#8217;s, cover letters and references to:\u00a0<b>recruitment@aun.edu.ng<\/b> The position being applied for should be the subject of the email.<\/p>\n<p><b>Note:<\/b> Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted.<\/p>\n<p><b>Application Deadline\u00a0 <\/b>10th June, 2016.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The American University of Nigeria (AUN) was established in 2003.
