{"id":29011,"date":"2016-07-14T15:41:20","date_gmt":"2016-07-14T14:41:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/joblistnigeria.com\/?p=29011"},"modified":"2016-07-14T15:41:20","modified_gmt":"2016-07-14T14:41:20","slug":"non-immigrant-immigrant-visa-assistant-u-s-consulate","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/joblistnigeria.com\/non-immigrant-immigrant-visa-assistant-u-s-consulate.html","title":{"rendered":"Non-Immigrant \/ Immigrant Visa Assistant at the U.S. Consulate"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The U.S. Embassy in Abuja is seeking to employ a suitable and qualified candidate for the position below in Facilities Maintenance Section (FAC):<\/p>\n<p><strong>Job Title: Non-Immigrant\/Immigrant Visa Assistant, FSN-08\/FP-06<\/strong><br \/>\nRef: A31232<br \/>\n<strong>Location: <\/strong>Lagos &#8211; Consular Section (CONS).<br \/>\nWork Hours: Full-time; 40 hours\/week<br \/>\n<strong><br \/>\nBasic Function of the Position<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The incumbent performs the complex task of processing the full range of non-immigrant and immigrant visas for Nigerian citizens and third-country nationals.<\/li>\n<li>S\/he refers only unusual, complex or questionable cases to the Team Lead, LES Staff supervisor, or Consular Officer. Incumbent will be one of the four rotating visa unit team members, who share duties over the course of the year.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Position Requirements<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Note:<\/strong> All applicants MUST address each required qualification listed below with specific information supporting each item. Failure to do so may result in a determination that the applicant is not qualified.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A bachelor\u2019s Degree in Art, Business Administration, Computer Science, Education, Engineering, Foreign Language, History, International Relations, International Affairs, Literature, Liberal Arts, Political Science, Psychology, Social Science or Sociology is required.<\/li>\n<li>Minimum of two (2) years of progressively responsible work experience in the application of regulatory material, while dealing with the public is required.<\/li>\n<li>Level IV (fluent) Speaking\/Reading\/Writing in English is required. Level IV (fluent) Speaking\/Reading\/Writing in Yoruba, Igbo or Hausa is required. Language proficiency will be tested.<\/li>\n<li>Comprehensive knowledge of immigration laws, regulations and procedures is required.<\/li>\n<li>Ability to draft correspondence with excellent keyboarding and data entry skills, and maintain appropriate confidentiality is required.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Hiring Preference Selection Process<\/strong><br \/>\nWhen qualified, applicants in the following hiring preference categories are extended a hiring preference in the order listed below. Therefore, it is essential that these applicants accurately describe their status on the application. Failure to do so may result in a determination that the applicant is not eligible for a hiring preference.<\/p>\n<p>Hiring Preference Order:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>AEFM \/ USEFM who is a preference-eligible U.S. Veteran*<\/li>\n<li>AEFM \/ USEFM<\/li>\n<li>FS on LWOP**<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Importation Information<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Applicants who claim status as a preference-eligible U.S. Veteran must submit a copy of the most recent Member Copy Four (4) of the DD-214, Certificate of Release or Discharge from Active Duty, and, if applicable, a letter from the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.<\/li>\n<li>If claiming conditional eligibility for U.S. Veterans\u2019 preference, applicants must submit proof of conditional eligibility.<\/li>\n<li>If the written documentation confirming eligibility is not received in the HR office by the closing date of the vacancy announcement, the U.S. Veterans\u2019 preference will not be considered in the application process.<\/li>\n<li>Mission HR\u2019s decision on eligibility for U.S. Veterans\u2019 preference after reviewing all required documentation is final.<\/li>\n<li>This level of preference applies to all Foreign Service employees on LWOP.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Additional Selection Criteria<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Management will consider nepotism\/conflict of interest, budget, and residency status in determining successful candidacy.<\/li>\n<li>Current OR employees serving a probationary period are not eligible to apply.
