The aim of DRC is to protect refugees and internally displaced persons (IDPs) against persecution and to promote durable solutions to the problems of forced migration, on the basis of humanitarian principles and human rights. DRC works in accordance with the UN Conventions on Refugees and the Code of Conduct for the ICRC and NGOs in Disaster Relief.<\/p>\n<p>DRC has opened a new country programme in Nigeria focusing on responding to the huge humanitarian<\/p>\n<p>DRC operations was initially focus on Yola and Mubi in Adamawa State, and has opened base in Maiduguri, Borno State and from there DRC has focus on meeting the basic needs (protection, WASH, food security and shelter) of urban caseloads as well as supporting outreach to affected areas and displacement camps. DRC also maintains a representational office in Abuja and a larger coordination and field based implementation office in Yola, Adamawa State. DRC is also currently assessing the possibility of operationalizing a hub in Yobe State.<\/p>\n<p>We are recruiting to fill the following vacant positions below:<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Job Title: Senior Protection Officer<br \/>\nLocation:<\/strong> Yola<\/p>\n<p><strong>Tasks and Responsibilities<\/strong><br \/>\nProgramme Implementation and supervision:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Monitor and supervise the implementation of Project activities at the field level, including appropriate documentation and management of protection cases (recorded incidents), Individual and Group intake form, IPA<\/li>\n<li>Provide constant support to field team in different location and provide them on job guidance, training and coaching<\/li>\n<li>Develop together with the team clear work plans on a weekly and monthly basis.<\/li>\n<li>Prepare daily and weekly reports on project activities to share with the Protection Manager.<\/li>\n<li>Ensure that the database records are regularly and timely updated<\/li>\n<li>Assist and organize the protection assessment, survey, focus group discussion and meeting<\/li>\n<li>Provide systematic analysis of collected data to highlight broad trends in cases\/incidents and protection concerns. In the event of repeated, prevalent or serious incidents, refer to relevant DRC staff and organization for advocacy for further service provisions and on other protection-related matters.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Protection monitoring and referrals:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Assist the teams in Mapping of services available for IDPs; Developing referral pathways\/mechanisms;<\/li>\n<li>Monitoring of the needs of displaced population with main focus on persons with special needs (women, children, elderly, disabled etc.);<\/li>\n<li>Management of individual cases; and ensure the database is updated and report or generated and shared with the concerns agencies for further assistant to the affected communities.<\/li>\n<li>Planning\/participation in group-based psychosocial support activities for men, women, adolescents and children<\/li>\n<li>Planning\/participation in Rapid Needs Assessments to understand protection needs of target populations;<\/li>\n<li>Provide advice and guidance as well as referrals to staff on IDPs issues related to accessing required services;<\/li>\n<li>Ensure teams are providing individual, needs-based assistance to IDP families based on internal guidelines developed by DRC;<\/li>\n<li>Support community based protection committees in identification of protection risks in the community and addressing such risks;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Training and capacity building:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Provide trainings\/capacity building to duty bearers, international and local NGOs and IDP communities on protection related issues (guiding principles of IDP protection; child protection; SGBV etc.);<\/li>\n<li>Develop different information and learning materials and messages<\/li>\n<li>Support the protection manager to organize and conduct staff trainings<\/li>\n<li>Internal\/External Coordination and Representation<\/li>\n<li>Coordinate with relevant sectors to ensure the availability of necessary services for the IDPs, and specifically for vulnerable groups, both staying in the camp, host community and returning to their areas of origin<\/li>\n<li>Coordinate work of Protection Assistance in Mubi and Yola. Represent the project at the relevant coordination fora with partner organizations as well as duty bearers when\/if required;<\/li>\n<li>Support with occasional document translation and provide interpretation support to Protection Manager during meetings, trainings, and other project activities.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Reporting &amp; Any misuse and abuse is reported to the Logistics Manager.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Inventories and Stock Management:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Ensure that all stock items are properly stored and correctly recorded as per the guidelines and the warehouse\/stores in Yola are well maintained.<\/li>\n<li>Ensure that the movement of warehouse &amp; stores inventories are correctly recorded and documented; authorized and paper work is done as per procedures.<\/li>\n<li>Inform the relevant Programme staff\/managers upon the receipts and dispatches and coordinate with them, as it may be necessary. Allow requesters inspection of items upon delivery.<\/li>\n<li>Ensure stock movement documentations are updated and stock reports are produced on time.<\/li>\n<li>Ensure stocks Reports are circulated to all sector Managers biweekly or on monthly basis and per request.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Power Systems Management:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Ensure all power generation equipment, electric appliances and power systems are well maintained<\/li>\n<li>Ensure issues related to power systems are timely reported and solutions are sought under the guidance of the Logistics Manager.<\/li>\n<li>Monthly reports of use and maintenance are produced and submitted to the Logistics Manager and head of base.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Transportation &amp; Freight:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Arrange for transportation of goods as required and ensure accurate documentation maintained.<\/li>\n<li>Arrange for the distribution of programme supplies as per plan and coordinate with programme teams.<\/li>\n<li>Ensure safe transportation of programme mail pouches to the field offices and the relevant procedures are adhered to by the drivers and mail carriers.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>General Work and Filing:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Implement standard DRC logistics systems and procedures<\/li>\n<li>Provide training and support to other logistics colleagues when requested.<\/li>\n<li>Ensure health and safety policy is implemented and matters related to are reported to the designated responsible manager.<\/li>\n<li>Provide technical inputs on procurements related to vehicles, generators &amp; power systems and other technical items required for logistics operations.<\/li>\n<li>Ensure all paper work is kept according to DRC\u2019s policies and procedures of and filed neatly with supporting documents in respective files.<\/li>\n<li>Undertake any other reasonable duties requested by line manager, where they do contradict the organization\u2019s policies.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Key Requirements<\/strong><br \/>\nEducation:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Bachelor\/Higher Diploma in Logistics or equivalent in Administration, economics, IT or business.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Essential:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Progressive 2-5 years of experience in handling logistics and procurement preferably in an INGO.<\/li>\n<li>Fluency in written and spoken English. (Statistical &amp; Graphical)<\/li>\n<li>Modify existing databases and database management systems according to requirements.<\/li>\n<li>Monitoring of data entry. After entry of the data the hard copies will be return to the respective teams. The ambiguous data forms will be returned to the respective community workers for accuracy.<\/li>\n<li>Test programs or databases, correct errors and make necessary modifications.<\/li>\n<li>Plan, coordinate and implement database security measures to safeguard information in client computer files against accidental or unauthorized damage, modification or disclosure.<\/li>\n<li>Train data entry manuals for making any necessary changes to the database, according to protection management needs.<\/li>\n<li>Work as part of a project team to coordinate database development, assessment, forms, format and tools development for collection of data and information.<\/li>\n<li>Review workflow charts developed by programmer analyst to understand tasks computer will perform, such as updating records.<\/li>\n<li>Data entry of the documents including (Protection Assessment, Baseline, End line data, IPA, Intake form, Awareness sessions, record and meetings of the CBPC, training attendance
