It also led to large population displacement with many millions of Internally displaced persons.<\/li>\n<li>Recent government efforts have successfully rescued many children hitherto trapped, and\/or abducted and made the inaccessible areas now accessible.<\/li>\n<li>In April 2016, an environmental cVDPV was reported from Borno and evidence showed that the virus had been in circulation since 2013. Outbreak response activities are presently being implemented but a number of emerging issues and lessons learnt from the outbreak response are of concern as a key risk to polio eradication in Nigeria.<\/li>\n<li>These include challenges on both the supply side, and especially demand side with non-compliance to OPV vaccination. Barely four months after the report, have two new polio cases been found in Borno state.<\/li>\n<li>It is clear that there is a need to address immunity gaps in the north east, especially in Borno, including reaching the previously unreached children due to physical access issues, as well as those in settlements that are not complying.<\/li>\n<li>It will require strong coordination, stronger EOC, and improved engagement with communities and leaders and thus the need for additional technical support for Borno State. UNICEF has an urgent need to have intensified and sustained technical support in the area of Health.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Major Tasks to be Accomplished<\/strong><br \/>\nKnowledge Management for Programmes:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Contribute to country programmes by supporting knowledge management through providing professional assistance in data collection and analysis, complete and accurate reporting as well as participation in the Programme Knowledge Network system of &#8220;lessons learned&#8221; and other corporate-level databases.<\/li>\n<li>Participate in information exchange with partners as well as in the development of training and orientation material by providing professional technical assistance. In particular, millions of children are suffering psychological distress due to the conflict. It is also estimated that over 20,000 have been displaced by the conflict. Children have been recruited and used by armed groups and been subjected to sexual violence.<\/li>\n<li>Many girls and women have become pregnant and given birth as a result of the conflict of rape and forced marriage. These children are facing acute challenges in returning to their families and communities following release or escape.<\/li>\n<li>Children need urgent support to ensure they are safe and protected from further harm, and to help them recover from what they have experienced.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Assignment Tasks<\/strong><br \/>\nKnowledge Management for Programmes:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Contribute to country programmes by supporting knowledge management through providing professional assistance in data collection and analysis, complete and accurate reporting as well as participation in the Programme Knowledge Network system of &#8220;lessons learned&#8221; and other corporate-level databases.<\/li>\n<li>Participate in information exchange with partners as well as in the development of training and orientation material by providing professional technical assistance on child protection in emergencies and social work.
