Background<\/strong><\/p>\n

Mercy Corps<\/b> Nigeria with funding from UK-AID is implementing Youth Stabilization Initiative for the State of Borno (YOU-SB) programme aimed at reducing the vulnerability of the male and female youth to radicalization and recruitment by extremists groups in Borno by addressing the root causes of violence.<\/p>\n

Mercy Corps Nigeria seeks to engage an interested and qualified candidate as a training consultant to conduct Countering Violence Extremism (CVE) trainings for Borno State key Ministry officials and directorates, and YOU-SB team, as a precursor to the development of the Borno State CVE plan and CVE Communication strategy. This training will be conducted in Borno state.<\/p>\n

Purpose \/ Project Description<\/strong><\/p>\n

The North East Nigeria Conflict Management and Stabilization Partnership is funded by DFID (UK-Aid) and is implemented by three different organizations Mercy Corps, Center for Civilians in Conflict (CIVIC), and the Center for Humanitarian Dialogue (CHD). The programme runs from August 2016 to March 2017, with desired intention to continue.<\/p>\n

The programme design is guided by Mercy Corp\u2019s programming which has worked on peace and conflict programming since early 2000 and began country work in Nigeria since 2012. YOU-SB is informed by our research findings from April 2016 report, \u201cMotivation and Empty Promises: Violence of Former Boko Haram Combatants and Nigerian Youth\u201d and it\u2019s September 2016 follow on, \u201cGifts and Graft: How Boko Haram Uses Financial Services for Recruitment and Support,\u201d<\/p>\n

YOU-SB partners with civil society, government actors, and traditional community and religious leaders in Borno State. The programme is guided by a commitment to promote inclusive dialogue and constructive collaboration among all stakeholders in order to both decrease immediate violence and start to tackle structural drivers in the region.<\/p>\n

YOU-SB is implemented in three Local Government Areas; Maiduguri, Biu and Damboa. Our core interconnected objectives are as follows;<\/p>\n
