He was an early advocate for human rights while in Nigeria, and, famously, during his later work in the Congo, the Amazon and in Ireland. With his humanitarian legacy in mind, it has been decided to support one Nigerian student to study a master\u2019s degree in human rights in Ireland.<\/p>\n<p>Applications are invited from interested candidates for:<br \/>\n<strong><br \/>\nTitle: 2017-2018 Irish and Casement Fellowship in Human Rights<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Summary<br \/>\nUnder the Casement fellowship, full financial support is provided for one-year full-time post-graduate education for candidates from Nigeria to undertake a one year master\u2019s level course of study in Human Rights in Ireland. The purpose of the Irish Aid Casement Fellowship Programme is to provide talented candidates with the opportunity to pursue advanced education and professional development in Ireland in order to contribute to the future development of Nigeria.<\/p>\n<p>The Irish Aid Casement Fellowship Programme normally covers: return airfares, full tuition, stipends to cover accommodation and subsistence costs, health insurance and other allowances, in addition to the necessary entry arrangements such as medical examination and visa.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Eligibility<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Candidates will need to have achieved the necessary educational standard to be accepted onto a Masters course in a Higher Education Institute in Ireland.<\/li>\n<li>In addition, there are a number of essential requirements to be eligible to apply for this scholarship.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Candidates Must:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Be a citizen of Nigeria and be residing in Nigeria<\/li>\n<li>Have achieved the necessary academic standard to be accepted onto a master\u2019s level course of study in Human Rights<\/li>\n<li>Have a minimum of three years relevant work experience.<\/li>\n<li>Be able to demonstrate a strong commitment to the development of Nigeria.<\/li>\n<li>Be able to take up the fellowship in the academic year for which it is offered.<\/li>\n<li>Meet any relevant procedural requirements of Government of Nigeria.<\/li>\n<li>Be able to demonstrate skills in academic English by achieving an appropriate score on a recognised test (IELTS 6.5).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Eligible Courses<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Masters programmes at Irish higher education institutes in the areas of Law, Human Rights and Governance.<\/li>\n<li>A directory listing all\u00a0<strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.irishaidfellowships.ie\/sites\/default\/files\/are-you-eligible\/irish_aid_casement_fellowship_in_human_rights_course_directory_2017.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">Eligible Courses<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>is available to applicants.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Application Closing Date<\/strong><br \/>\n17th March, 2017.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Method of Application<\/strong><br \/>\nInterested and qualified candidates should send a completed application package which should include the following documents listed by order:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Copy of your passport (details page) and Nigeria identity card.<\/li>\n<li>A certified copy of academic transcript and degree.<\/li>\n<li>One letter of reference from your employer.<\/li>\n<li>A completed\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.irishaidfellowships.ie\/sites\/default\/files\/are-you-eligible\/irish_aid_casement_fellowship_in_human_rights_application_form_final.docx\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Application Form (MS Word)<\/strong><\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>All documents mentioned above should be submitted to the address below:<br \/>\n<strong>Irish Aid Casement Fellowship Coordinator<br \/>\nEmbassy of Ireland,<br \/>\n11 Negro Crescent,<br \/>\nMaitama District,<br \/>\nAbuja,<br \/>\nNigeria.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.irishaidfellowships.ie\/sites\/default\/files\/are-you-eligible\/irish_aid_casement_fellowship_in_human_rights_application_form_final.docx\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Click Here to Download Application Form (MS Word)<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<div><a href=\"http:\/\/www.irishaidfellowships.ie\/sites\/default\/files\/are-you-eligible\/irish_aid_casement_fellowship_in_human_rights_application_form_final.docx\" target=\"_blank\"><strong><br \/>\n<\/strong><\/a><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.irishaidfellowships.ie\/sites\/default\/files\/are-you-eligible\/irish_aid_casement_fellowship_in_human_rights_course_directory_2017.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">Click here to view Eligible Courses directory (PDF)<br \/>\n<\/a><\/strong><br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.irishaidfellowships.ie\/casement-fellowship\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Click Here For More Information<\/strong><\/a>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Note<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Applications will not be considered for this fellowship unless all eligibility criteria are met.
