{"id":37554,"date":"2017-05-17T10:25:29","date_gmt":"2017-05-17T09:25:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/joblistnigeria.com\/?p=37554"},"modified":"2017-05-17T10:25:30","modified_gmt":"2017-05-17T09:25:30","slug":"un-high-commissioner-refugees-graduate-internship-programme-2017","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/joblistnigeria.com\/un-high-commissioner-refugees-graduate-internship-programme-2017.html","title":{"rendered":"UN High Commissioner for Refugees Graduate Internship Programme 2017"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The UN High Commissioner for Refugees Representation Office in Nigeria invites application from suitably qualified candidates to fill the position whose particulars are given below:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Job Title: Protection Internship<\/strong><br \/>\n<b>Location: <\/b>Abuja<br \/>\n<strong>Background<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Based in UNHCR Nigeria&#8217;s Abuja office, this internship offers a unique opportunity to gain experience in supporting UNHCR\u2019s protection response in the context of the humanitarian emergency situation in North East Nigeria.<\/li>\n<li>It will provide insight and experience into the implementation of UNHCR protection interventions in priority areas and its leadership role coordinating the Protection Sector Working Group (PSWG).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Duties<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Follow developments in the protection situation in the North East Nigeria and provide analysis for protection activities taking place<\/li>\n<li>Draft or provide inputs to all necessary documents including reports, strategies, letters and speeches, etc.<\/li>\n<li>Assist the Protection Team with development of, monitoring and reporting on protection activities, including trainings<\/li>\n<li>Assist UNHCR in its role as co-lead of the PSWG, including by supporting the Secretariat, attending pertinent meetings (including meetings Sub-Sector Working Groups and other Sectors) and providing briefing summaries<\/li>\n<li>Perform other related duties, as required<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Requirements<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>University degree in Law, International (Humanitarian\/Human Rights) Law, Human Rights or similar fields<\/li>\n<li>Strong attention to detail, proactive approach, ability to work quickly under pressure and juggle multiple tasks<\/li>\n<li>Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and basic administrative skills<\/li>\n<li>Fluency in written and spoken English<\/li>\n<li>Excellent written and verbal communication, analytical abilities and research skills<\/li>\n<li>Excellent inter-personal skills and interest to work particularly with NGOs and government institutions<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Preferred Experience\/Skills: <\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Understanding of humanitarian emergency response and cluster system<\/li>\n<li>Readiness to work with internally displaced persons, refugees and in humanitarian aid\/international law\/human rights disciplines<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>General Conditions<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Interns are not financially remunerated by UNHCR.
