in Lagos &#8211; Nigeria in 1999 as an independent, not-for-profit, research, training, advocacy and capacity building organisation.<\/p>\n<p>The Centre was established to mobilise global opinion and resources for democratic development and provide an independent space to reflect critically on the challenges posed to the democratization and development processes in West Africa, and also to provide alternatives and best practices to the sustenance of democracy and development in the region<br \/>\nWe require Interns to fill the position below:<\/p>\n<p><b>Job Title:\u00a0<\/b><strong>Communication Intern<\/strong><br \/>\n<b>Location:<\/b> Abuja<br \/>\n<b>Internship Programme<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>CDD is known for offering unique working experience to new set of young population in Nigeria and West Africa.<\/li>\n<li>The internship programme has in the past recorded success in providing practical work experience by working with outstanding career professionals and senior staff with vast experience in governance, peace and security across West Africa.<\/li>\n<li>As a continuation of our tradition, this internship programme is designed to:\n<ul>\n<li>Attract pool of young talented and potential employees;<\/li>\n<li>Create an opportunity for career development for its successful participants;<\/li>\n<li>Further create a network of advocates for CDD\u2019s engagements\/activities; and<\/li>\n<li>Provide support and improved work outputs for existing program, administrative and finance staff.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Duration<\/b><br \/>\nInternship is available on a short term basis of not more than six months.<br \/>\n<b>Job Responsibilities<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Provide support in coordinating the media on disseminating information about CDD programmes, activities, and events.<\/li>\n<li>Liase with both electronic and the print media on branding of CDD&#8217;s work and profile.<\/li>\n<li>Keep database of media contacts nationally and internationally.<\/li>\n<li>Provide support in the development of CDD&#8217;s Annual reports .<\/li>\n<li>Management of organization\u2019s websites and social media platforms.<\/li>\n<li>Assist in writing r and disseminating press releases on CDD&#8217;s work to media<\/li>\n<li>Layout and infographic design of all CDD reports<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Person Specification<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Degree in Mass Communication, English Language, Communication Art, or any related course.<\/li>\n<li>At least one years\u2019 experience in books publication<\/li>\n<li>Ability to organize press conferences at short notice<\/li>\n<li>Ability to thrive under pressure with limited support<\/li>\n<li>Ability to develop visualization and manage website<\/li>\n<li>Effective and persuasive communication skills<\/li>\n<li>Fluency in both English and French is an added advantage,<\/li>\n<li>Excellent analytical, writing and \u2018actioning\u2019 skills<\/li>\n<li>Excellent inter-personal, presentational and public speaking skills<\/li>\n<li>IT Skills, video coverage programmes of government, security issues and other thematic issues that the organization is working on.<\/li>\n<li>Provide support in the preparation of reports to donor agencies and for CDD annual reports.<\/li>\n<li>Represent the Centre at meetings, networks and coalitions<\/li>\n<li>Carrying out other responsibilities that may be assigned from time to time by the Head of Programme.<\/li>\n<li>Assist with relevant research reports for and writing of proposals to donor agencies.<\/li>\n<li>Assist with transcription of interviews and any recording that are useful for the work of the organization.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Person Specification<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Degree in the Social Sciences, Humanities or related field<\/li>\n<li>Ability to thrive under pressure with limited support<\/li>\n<li>Effective and persuasive communication skills<\/li>\n<li>Excellent inter-personal, presentational and public speaking skills<\/li>\n<li>Excellent IT Skills<\/li>\n<li>Knowledge of Elections, Peace &amp; Security and\/or Gender issues in West Africa,<\/li>\n<li>Fluency in both English and French is an added advantage,<\/li>\n<li>Excellent
