We promote family-friendly flexible working opportunities, where operational and security needs allow.<\/p>\n<p>We are recruiting to fill the position below:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Job Title:\u00a0Community Liaison Officer (16\/17 LOS)<br \/>\nLocation:<\/strong>\u00a0Lagos<br \/>\n<strong>Grade:<\/strong>\u00a0A2 (L)<br \/>\n<strong>Type of Position:<\/strong>\u00a0Fixed Term<br \/>\n<strong>Working hours per week:<\/strong>\u00a020 hours<br \/>\n<strong>Duration of Post:<\/strong>12 months<br \/>\n<strong>Job Category:<\/strong>\u00a0Foreign and Commonwealth Office (Residence and Support Staff)<br \/>\n<strong>Main Purpose of Job<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The Community Liaison Officer (CLO) is an information point of contact for families, partners and staff prior to and on arrival at Post.<\/li>\n<li>On arrival the CLO assists UK based (including Home Office, SOCA, DFID &amp; British Council) single staff, couples and families to integrate as smoothly as possible into life at Post.<\/li>\n<li>They also act as a continuing source of information, referral and support and provide effective communication on social matters within the Post.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Roles and Responsibilities<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Supporting UK based staff and their dependants before, during and after arrival at Post by providing relevant information as appropriate. This includes an orientation tour on arrival.<\/li>\n<li>In liaison with the Estates Officer, ensure that staff accommodation is delivered on time and at an acceptable standard.<\/li>\n<li>Assist officers, their families and staff on temporary duty by providing confidential information on health and medical welfare at Post.<\/li>\n<li>Act as the main contact between Post and local schools.<\/li>\n<li>Arranging school monitoring visits, arrange registration where necessary.<\/li>\n<li>Point of contact for school bills, fee enquiries and bids for FCO education team.<\/li>\n<li>Compile and issue monthly Newsletter to all staff.<\/li>\n<li>Co-ordinating the annual updating of the Post Report and the Post Fact Sheet.<\/li>\n<li>Completion of the bi-annual ECA Cost of Living (COLA) survey and other returns as required.<\/li>\n<li>Liaising with DSFA and submission of various data\/information as required.<\/li>\n<li>Maintain contact with CLO co-ordinator and the CLO world-wide network.<\/li>\n<li>Liaise with other Diplomatic Missions in Lagos and maintain contact with British Women\u2019s Group and the British Council.<\/li>\n<li>Attend the following committee meetings \u2013 Post Housing committee, Lagos Joint Post Management Board (LJPMB), International Mother &amp; Child Playgroup based at the Kingfisher Club (KFC).<\/li>\n<li>Ad-hoc responsibilities as required by LM<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Essential Qualifications and Experience\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Previous experience of working within an office environment, good keyboard skills, familiarity with computers and software packages (notably MS Word, Excel and outlook) is desirable.<\/li>\n<li>The CLO should be familiar with the facilities and resources available in and around Ikoyi and Victoria Island.<\/li>\n<li>They should have good oral and written communication skills.<\/li>\n<li>Being a good listener, approachable, discreet, sympathetic, able to respect confidences is pertinent in this role.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Desirable Qualifications and Experience:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Previous experience as a CLO<\/li>\n<li>Required competencies<\/li>\n<li>Making Effective Decisions, Collaborating and Partnering, Managing a Quality Service, Delivering at Pace<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Other Benefits and Conditions of Employment:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>This is a part-time position working 20 hours per week (exact timing will be agreed with successful applicant).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Learning and Development Opportunities:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Appropriate L &amp; D will be provided when the candidate starts.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Starting Monthly Salary<\/strong><br \/>\nN206, 365 gross<br \/>\n<strong><br \/>\nStart Date<\/strong><br \/>\n15th September, 2017.<\/p>\n<p><strong>How to Apply<\/strong><br \/>\nInterested and qualified candidates should:<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/fco.tal.net\/vx\/lang-en-GB\/mobile-0\/appcentre-1\/brand-2\/xf-d17bc715fac7\/candidate\/so\/pm\/4\/pl\/1\/opp\/4043-Community-Liaison-Officer-16-17-LOS-Internal-Job-Advert\/en-GB\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Click here to apply<\/strong><\/a><br \/>\n<strong>Note<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Please complete the application form in full as the information provided is used during screening.<\/li>\n<li>Please check your application carefully before you submit, as no changes can be made once submitted.<\/li>\n<li>The British Deputy High Commission will never request any payment or fees to apply for a position.<\/li>\n<li>Employees recruited locally by the British Deputy High Commission in Lagos are subject to Terms and Conditions of Service according to local employment law in Nigeria.<\/li>\n<li>All candidates must be legally able to work and reside in the country of the vacancy with the correct visa\/work permit status or demonstrate eligibility to obtain the relevant permit.<\/li>\n<li>The responsibility lies on the successful candidate to: Obtain the relevant permit; Pay the fees for the permit; Make arrangements to relocate; Meet the costs to relocation<\/li>\n<li>Employees who are not eligible to pay local income tax: e.g. certain third-country nationals and spouses\/partners of UK diplomats will have their salaries abated by an equivalent amount.<\/li>\n<li>Information about the Foreign and Commonwealth Office Competency Framework can be found on this link:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/publications\/civil-service-competency-framework\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/publications\/civil-service-competency-framework<\/a>Please note: Job grade AA=A1, AO=A2, EO=B3, HEO=C4, SEO=C5<\/li>\n<li>Reference checking and security clearances will be conducted on successful candidates.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Application Deadline:\u00a0<\/strong>29th August, 2017.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The British Government is an inclusive and diversity-friendly employer.
