{"id":41920,"date":"2017-09-08T10:40:59","date_gmt":"2017-09-08T09:40:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/joblistnigeria.com\/?p=41920"},"modified":"2017-09-08T11:01:55","modified_gmt":"2017-09-08T10:01:55","slug":"action-hunger-new-position-available","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/joblistnigeria.com\/action-hunger-new-position-available.html","title":{"rendered":"Action Against Hunger New Position Available"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Action Against Hunger works to save lives by combating hunger and diseases that threaten the lives of vulnerable communities, through nutrition, food security, water and sanitation, health and advocacy.<\/p>\n<p>We are recruiting to fill the position below:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Job Title:<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>Intern \u2013 Technical (WASH)<br \/>\nLocation<\/strong>: Damaturu, Yobe<br \/>\n<strong>Duration:<\/strong>\u00a03 months<br \/>\n<strong>Start date:<\/strong>\u00a0ASAP<br \/>\n<strong>Job Description<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>We are looking for talented Interns, interested in pursuing a humanitarian career.<\/li>\n<li>The Technical (WASH) intern aims to assess the sustainability and good practices of improvement of access of water of vulnerable populations through the rehabilitation and construction of water points in Yobe and Brono State in Nigeria mission.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Key Activities<\/strong><br \/>\nThe Technical Intern will perform the activities with the existing team in Nigeria (mainly with the WASH team). The intern will be primariy responsible for:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Review of Action Against Hunger-USA water point designs for technical specifications, safety, access, compliance to national standards.<\/li>\n<li>Responsible for cleaning all quantitative and qualitative data.<\/li>\n<li>Presenting findings and recommendations to the Action Against Hunger-USA Nigieria WASH Team<\/li>\n<li>Responsible to lead the project under direct supervision from WASH Head of Department, with field management of enumerators<\/li>\n<li>Identification of reliable borehole drilling contractors from Action Against Hunger\u2019s experience as well as other NGOs and stakeholders from Borno and Yobe State.<\/li>\n<li>Focusing on review of secondary data and documents, primary data collection in the communities, and discussion with other NGOs and stakeholders.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Requirements<\/strong><br \/>\nDo you Meet the Profile Required Criteria?<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Ongoing advanced University Degree (Master\u2019s degree or equivalent) related to Water Sanitation &amp; Higiene, Engineering, Public Health work or related to International Assistance.<\/li>\n<li>Experience in developing countries highly desirable<\/li>\n<li>Flexibility and adaptability, commitment to respect security rules and to represent the best image of the organization while in the field.<\/li>\n<li>Working proficiency in English compulsory. Knowledge of Hausa a plus.<\/li>\n<li>Good interpersonal skills and ability to establish and maintain effective relationships in a multi-cultural environment with sensitivity and respect for diversity and gender.<\/li>\n<li>Strong communication skills (written and oral) in English<\/li>\n<li>Flexible with the ability to cope with stressful situations<\/li>\n<li>Ability to plan and deliver work to agreed deadlines with minimum supervision<\/li>\n<li>Knowledge of water supply, operation and maintenance, and community mobilization<\/li>\n<li>Basic knowledge on usage of ODK\/KOBO a plus<\/li>\n<li>Excellent reporting skills with good oral and written communication skills<\/li>\n<li>Diplomatic and culturally sensitive<\/li>\n<li>Good analytical, research and negotiation skills.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Others<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Action Against Hunger will support accommodation and study implementation in country, but candidates are encouraged to seek their own funding to facilitate flights, lodging and food.<\/li>\n<li>The intern will be able to use the regular Action Against Hunger program transport and movements of cars to do the primary data collection.<\/li>\n<li>Action Against Hunger will provide enumerators \/ translator, and support will be provided by program teams.<\/li>\n<li>Action Against Hunger will support the visa<\/li>\n<li>The intern will need to have active health insurance, and cover visa costs and flight travel.<\/li>\n<li>S\/He will also need to bring his or her own computer.
