NRC advocates for the rights of displaced populations and offers assistance within the shelter, emergency food security, and water, sanitation and hygiene sectors.<\/p>\n<p>The Norwegian Refugee Council has approximately 5000 committed and competent employees involved in projects across four continents. In addition, NRC runs one of the world\u2019s largest standby rosters, NORCAP, with 650 professionals, ready to be deployed on 72 hours\u2019 notice when a crisis occurs.<\/p>\n<p>We are recruiting to fill the position below:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Job Title:\u00a0Advocacy Manager<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Location:<\/strong>\u00a0Maiduguri, Borno<br \/>\nReports to: The Country Director.<br \/>\n<strong>Job Summary<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Do you want to be a part of our Nigeria programme? We are looking for a new Advocacy Manager in our Maiduguri office.<\/li>\n<li>Since 2009, violent attacks on civilians by the armed group Boko Haram have left widespread devastation in northeast Nigeria. At least 17,000 people have been killed and approximately two million people are displaced within Nigeria. More than 14 million people in northeast Nigeria today are affected by the crisis caused by Boko Haram. Out of these, seven million people are in need of humanitarian assistance. Around 92 per cent of displaced people reside in either informal settlements or with low-income host communities, creating a strain on already limited resources. The remaining 8 per cent live in more formalised camps. NRC has been in Nigeria since 2015.<\/li>\n<li>The Advocacy Manager provides overall leadership, management and strategic direction to NRC\u2019s policy and advocacy work in Nigeria. S\/he is responsible for identifying priority protection concerns for advocacy, strengthening the incorporation of advocacy into all aspects of NRC\u2019s activities and guiding NRC\u2019s advocacy messaging to promote an improved in collaboration with the Protection coordinator protection and humanitarian response environment in Nigeria.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Job Description<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Provide high quality protection analysis on key humanitarian and displacement trends and prepare evidenced-based policy briefing papers, policy position statements and other public-facing advocacy products when strategic and relevant<\/li>\n<li>Seek fundraising opportunities for advocacy and contribute to the development of quality proposals, ensuring inclusion of research and\/or advocacy activities on specific humanitarian and protection issues affecting displacement-affected where appropriate<\/li>\n<li>Prepare high-quality key messages, briefings, letters and other written materials for internal and external use, ensuring strong evidence-base in messaging and following agreed sign-off procedures<\/li>\n<li>Identify and coordinate NRC\u2019s advocacy response to prioritised protection issues both within the country and internationally<\/li>\n<li>Develop and implement country-specific advocacy strategy, aligned to overall country strategy<\/li>\n<li>Line management, including development of staff if applicable<\/li>\n<li>Ensure advocacy coherence and reinforce effective synergies between programmes and advocacy by working closely with programme staff to integrate advocacy into programme planning and implementation.<\/li>\n<li>Represent NRC to key stakeholders, strengthen strategic advocacy networks and identify opportunities to advocate NRC\u2019s position<\/li>\n<li>Support programme staff in incorporating and integrating advocacy into all aspects of NRC\u2019s programme activities, strategy and budgeting<\/li>\n<li>Continuously identify and follow-up opportunities for influencing based on NRC Nigeria\u2019s advocacy priorities, both in country and internationally through NRC\u2019s Representation Offices;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Qualifications<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Post-graduate qualification with minimum 5 years of relevant Manager\/ Adviser experience within the humanitarian field<\/li>\n<li>Experience from working in complex and volatile contexts<\/li>\n<li>Professional knowledge about protection principles and advocacy, and the use of media for public advocacy<\/li>\n<li>Solid understanding of international legal and policy processes relating to displacement<\/li>\n<li>Knowledge of the Lake Chad region<\/li>\n<li>Strong managerial and interpersonal skills<\/li>\n<li>Documented results related to the position\u2019s responsibilities<\/li>\n<li>Knowledge about own leadership skills\/profile<\/li>\n<li>Fluency in English, both written and verbal<\/li>\n<li>Documented\/proven results related to the position\u2019s responsibilities, particularly in analysis, drafting of messages, coordination and networking<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>How to Apply<\/strong><br \/>\nInterested and qualified candidates should:<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/candidate.webcruiter.com\/en-gb\/Account\/SpaLogin?ReturnUrl=%2Fcv%3Fadvertid%3D3621836756%26language%3DEN%26link_source_id%3D1699698939%26tenantid%3D2703252712%26companyid%3D2703252712\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Click here to Apply<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Application Deadline\u00a0 \u00a0<\/strong>27th November, 2017.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) is a non-governmental, humanitarian organization with 60 years of experience in helping to create a safer and more dignified life for refugees and internally displaced&#8230;..<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":10164,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"om_disable_all_campaigns":false,"jetpack_post_was_ever_published":false,"_jetpack_newsletter_access":"","_jetpack_newsletter_tier_id":0,"footnotes":"","jetpack_publicize_message":"","jetpack_is_tweetstorm":false,"jetpack_publicize_feature_enabled":true,"jetpack_social_post_already_shared":true,"jetpack_social_options":{"image_generator_settings":{"template":"highway","enabled":false}}},"categories":[49],"tags":[2653],"jetpack_publicize_connections":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v21.5 -
