This will include writing test plans, scripts for tracking defects, fixes in product development and software application development.<\/li>\n<li>The QA Specialist will lead a team in an Agile environment and have extensive knowledge of the Software Development Life Cycle.<\/li>\n<li>This individual will apply proven analytical and problem-solving skills to help validate IT processes through careful testing in order to maximize the benefit of business investments in IT initiatives.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Essential Duties and Responsibilities<\/strong><br \/>\nTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Other duties may be assigned:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Develop and establish quality assurance measures and testing standards for new applications, products and\/or enhancements to existing applications throughout their development\/product lifecycles.<\/li>\n<li>Conduct internal audits to measure and assure adherence to established QA standards for software development, application integration, information system performance and corresponding documentation.<\/li>\n<li>Create and execute test plans and scripts that will determine optimal application performance according to specifications.<\/li>\n<li>Verify and revise quality assurance standards as needed.<\/li>\n<li>Ensure that testing activities allow applications to meet business requirements and systems goals. Fulfil end-user requirements and identify existing or potential issues.<\/li>\n<li>Prepare and deliver reports, recommendations, or alternatives that address existing or potential trouble areas in IT systems and projects across the organization.<\/li>\n<li>Collaborate with software\/systems personnel in application testing, such as system, unit, regression, load and acceptance testing.<\/li>\n<li>Make recommendations for improvement of applications to programmers and software developers or engineers.<\/li>\n<li>Communicate test progress, test results and other relevant information to project stakeholders and management.<\/li>\n<li>Test any new software to ensure integration into company systems meets functional requirements, system compliance and technical specifications.<\/li>\n<li>Analyze formal test results in order to discover and report any defects, bugs, errors, configuration issues and interoperability flaws.<\/li>\n<li>Assist in the development of change control processes, practices and guidelines for new and existing technologies.<\/li>\n<li>Assure that output from the software development process includes adequate identification and interpretation of product requirements, such as a) traceability requirements, b) test requirements, c) usability, etc.<\/li>\n<li>Participate in developing, distributing and coordinating in-depth end-user reviews for modified and new systems and applications.<\/li>\n<li>Monitor program performance after implementation to prevent reoccurrence of program operating problems and ensure efficiency of operation.<\/li>\n<li>Recommend design improvements or corrections to engineers throughout the development process.<\/li>\n<li>Maintain effective communication with the project software engineers on project limitation, capability, performance requirement and hardware interface changes.<\/li>\n<li>Cultivate and disseminate knowledge of quality assurance best practice.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Other Duties and Responsibilities:<br \/>\nThe requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and\/or ability required.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Necessary skills include; procedures, as well as ethical standards of the field.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Qualifications<\/strong><br \/>\nThe requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and\/or ability required to successfully perform this job:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Bachelor\u2019s degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems or related field is required with six-years equivalent work experience<\/li>\n<li>Master\u2019s degree is a plus.<\/li>\n<li>Ability to successfully manage multiple assignments independently.<\/li>\n<li>Creativity and problem-solving skills.<\/li>\n<li>Three-years direct experience in overseeing the design, development and implementation of quality assurance standards for software testing.<\/li>\n<li>One-year direct experience as a lead tester for major application integration and\/or major application product release.<\/li>\n<li>Knowledge of SQA methodology and tools<\/li>\n<li>Experience with GUI automated testing tools (Selenium, FitNesse, Watir, etc.)<\/li>\n<li>Experience with programming languages like Bash, Java, Python and Ruby, AngularJS, EmberJS<\/li>\n<li>Experience with unit testing frameworks such as JUnit, Test::Unit, xUnit, etc.<\/li>\n<li>Experience with performance testing tools like JMeter, Apache Bench, httperf<\/li>\n<li>Experience working with Java, Java EE, Linux, and related cloud technologies.<\/li>\n<li>Knowledge of agile development practices, continuous integration, and continuous deployment.<\/li>\n<li>Strong knowledge of system testing best practices and methodologies.<\/li>\n<li>Direct, hands-on experience with ad hoc query programs, automated testing tools and reporting software to include but not limited to Selenium and HP Performance Center.<\/li>\n<li>Self-starter, highly organized; Works well with all functional levels in the organization; excellent presentation and interpersonal skills; high level of business management and facilitation skill; capability to resolve complex problems with minimum confusion, frustration, and inconveniences for all parties concerned.<\/li>\n<li>Planning; Responds well to supervisor requests and feedback.<\/li>\n<li>Be consistently at work and on time.<\/li>\n<li>Participate in and promote a positive, supportive, cooperative team environment.<\/li>\n<li>Adhere to Policies and Procedures.<\/li>\n<li>Adhere to eHealth Africa Code of Conduct as well as ethical standards of the field.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Qualifications<\/strong><br \/>\nThe requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and\/or ability required to successfully perform this job:<br \/>\nEducation\/Experience:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Master\u2019s degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Geographic Information Systems, Surveying and Geoinformatics, Geography or other related field<\/li>\n<li>Minimum of 4 years GIS development \/ software engineering experience<\/li>\n<li>Significant and advanced GIS and Software development experience may substitute for the Master\u2019s degree Experience in Javascript and JavaScript libraries \u2013 AngularJS, LeafletJS<\/li>\n<li>Experience in developing web and mobile GIS applications using open source GIS solutions e.g. PostgreSQL, Geoserver, MapServer, OpenLayers<\/li>\n<li>Working knowledge of developing restful web services and Application Programming Interfaces (APIs)<\/li>\n<li>Experience working in a team environment with github (creating branches, merging branches, cherry picking commits, reverting commits, stashing, squash merging, tagging, etc.)<\/li>\n<li>Familiarity with test driven development<\/li>\n<li>Familiarity with best practices in coding and design including enterprise patterns.<\/li>\n<li>Cultural sensitivity, sound judgment, and strong interest in working in a demanding and intellectually challenging environment, with the organizational ability to handle multiple tasks around ambitious deadlines<\/li>\n<li>International work experience is a plus<\/li>\n<li>Ability to identify and promote best practices<\/li>\n<li>Excellent interpersonal communication skills, organizational skills and great attention to detail.
