It is responsible for providing leadership on global health matters, shaping the health research agenda, setting norms and standards, articulating evidence-based policy options, providing technical support to countries and monitoring and assessing health trends.<\/p>\n<p>We are recruiting to fill the position below:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Job Title:\u00a0Consultant (Malaria \u2013 North East)<\/strong><br \/>\nRef Id: 1704184<br \/>\n<strong>Location<\/strong>: Maiduguri<br \/>\nGrade:\u00a0 NO-B<br \/>\nContractual Arrangement: Individual Service Contractor<br \/>\nContract duration: 12 months<br \/>\nSchedule: Full-time\u00a0<strong><br \/>\nPurpose of the Position<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>In order to address the specific need of the North East, WHO in collaboration with National and States Malaria Programmes, developed a framework, which tried to stratify malaria interventions in the North East based on access.<\/li>\n<li>This framework aims to guide the States and Partners in the prioritization and implementation strategies of interventions based on the emergency response.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Description of Duties<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The Staff will work with the WHO emergency team based in Maiduguri and the State Malaria Elimination Programme and other relevant stakeholders to carry out the following tasks:<\/li>\n<li>Facilitate intervention mapping, implementation and deployment of resources<\/li>\n<li>Monitor progress of intervention<\/li>\n<li>Identification of bottlenecks<\/li>\n<li>Engage in further dissemination of the Implementation framework<\/li>\n<li>Facilitation of malaria partner coordination on the implementation of the framework<\/li>\n<li>Monitor adherence to Implementation of the framework<\/li>\n<li>Situation analysis\/Needs assessment of the Malaria situation in the three states<\/li>\n<li>Provide operational support to the emergency team for issues related to malaria programme implementation<\/li>\n<li>Document processes and key lessons\/best practices<\/li>\n<li>Support mobilization of resources for Malaria in the North East<\/li>\n<li>Engagement of local authorities on other AIDs, TB and Malaria issues<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Qualifications<\/strong><br \/>\nEducation:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Essential: University degree in Medical Statistics and\/or Epidemiology or any related discipline.<\/li>\n<li>Desirable: Post graduate degree; MPH, MSc, or Masters in Medical Statistics and\/or Epidemiology is desired.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Experience:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Essential: Minimum of 7 years of practical experience in planning, implementing, monitoring and evaluating disease prevention and control activities.<\/li>\n<li>Desirable: Working knowledge of the National Malaria landscape,Experience in working with bilateral or multilateral organization in the country.<\/li>\n<li>Experience in North East will be an added advantage.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Use of Language Skills:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Essential: Fluency in spoken and written English<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Skills<br \/>\nSpecific skills required:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Experience in facilitation<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>How to Apply<\/strong><br \/>\nInterested and qualified candidates should:<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/tl-ex.vcdp.who.int\/careersection\/ex\/jobdetail.ftl?job=1704184&amp;tz=GMT%2B01%3A00\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Click here to Apply<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Application Deadline\u00a0 \u00a0<\/strong>25th December, 2017.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>World Health Organization (WHO) is the directing and coordinating authority for health within the United Nations system.
