It is a national not-for-profit organization with the mission of strengthening the nation\u2019s ability to deliver the fruits of science to society by the acquisition, growth, and dissemination of Sound scientific knowledge, and facilitation of its use in the solution of major national problems.<\/p>\n<p>In furtherance of its mission, the NAS is recruiting for the under-listed positions:<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Job Title:\u00a0Programme Officer<br \/>\nLocation<\/strong>: Nigeria<strong><br \/>\nJob Objective(s)<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Initiates, monitors and controls -and closes specific projects\/programs of The Academy (which have the overall objective of gathering evidence to inform policies and programs)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Responsibilities<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Manages projects\/programs<\/li>\n<li>Manages projects from initiation to completion (includes budget preparation, sourcing of resource persons \u2013 e.g. speakers, consultants, fellows etc. for the project\/program).<\/li>\n<li>Controls and monitors project execution; ensuring that deliverables are timely and project is completed within time, scope and budget.<\/li>\n<li>Conducts background research on topics for current and proposed studies\/projects<\/li>\n<li>Conducts database, website and literature review in national and international publications<\/li>\n<li>Checks facts and references for report and journal publications<\/li>\n<li>Identifies and gathers research materials as directed<\/li>\n<li>Facilitates flow of information among programme staff, fellows, external experts, consultants etc.<\/li>\n<li>Performs project documentation \u2013 report writing and editing of completed projects.<\/li>\n<li>Fund-raising \u2013 involved in writing fund raising letters and visits to possible funders for proposed projects.<\/li>\n<li>Research\/ proposal writing<\/li>\n<li>Writes proposals (including budgetary and concept notes for grants to various projects<\/li>\n<li>Assists the preparation of graphics and presentations<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Qualifications and Experience<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A good First university degree in the Sciences (Physical Sciences may be an advantage)<\/li>\n<li>A postgraduate degree in the sciences would be an advantage.<\/li>\n<li>Minimum of 2 years relevant post- qualification experience; creativity<\/li>\n<li>Integrity<\/li>\n<li>Conflict resolution<\/li>\n<li>Oral and written communication<\/li>\n<li>Customer orientation<\/li>\n<li>Scientific advocacy &amp; policy knowledge<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Job Title:\u00a0Programme Manager<br \/>\nLocation<\/strong>: Nigeria<br \/>\n<strong>Job Objective(s)<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Responsible for developing and managing the convening and consensus activities of The Academy (e.g. workshops, studies, fora, stakeholder meetings etc.)<\/li>\n<li>Ensures proper documentation of all research findings and output from The Academy<\/li>\n<li>Organises internal and external reviews of reports and ensures prompt publication of these reports to international standards.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Responsibilities<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Oversees project\/programme execution<\/li>\n<li>Designs and manages programme activities of minimal\/moderate complexity<\/li>\n<li>Develops project implementation strategies and budgets<\/li>\n<li>Ensures project implementation meets objectives<\/li>\n<li>Ensures The Academy\u2019s programme activities meet strategic goals<\/li>\n<li>Conducts and supports scientific (healthcare) research<\/li>\n<li>Prepares background papers and technical summaries<\/li>\n<li>Coordinates science-based meetings and workshops<\/li>\n<li>Synthesizes and edits research findings and technical data, and determines relevance of the data.<\/li>\n<li>Conducts background research on topics and writes proposals for new programmes\/projects<\/li>\n<li>Drafts materials and reports for final publication Contributes technical knowledge to proposal development<\/li>\n<li>Manages dissemination of technical reports<\/li>\n<li>Manages The Academy\u2019s intellectual products<\/li>\n<li>Supports the Council in strengthening The Academy\u2019s relationship with the scientific community<\/li>\n<li>Oversees the preparation of publications including reports, brochures, newsletters, and journals.<\/li>\n<li>Supports fund raising Develops\/brochures prospectuses to raise funds for new projects or project components<\/li>\n<li>Prepares reports of meetings and other Academy activities<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Qualifications and Experience<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A good First University degree in the Sciences<\/li>\n<li>An advanced post-graduate degree in the sciences would be an advantage.<\/li>\n<li>Minimum of 5 years relevant post-qualification experience -2 of which must have been spent at Strategic Senior Management level in a program management role in a research organisatiori or a donor funded initiative.<\/li>\n<li>Strategic perspective<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Scientific knowledge<\/li>\n<li>Business and financial acumen<\/li>\n<li>Alliance management<\/li>\n<li>Conflict resolution Coaching<\/li>\n<li>Oral communication &amp;
