ICRISAT and its partners help empower these poor people to overcome poverty, hunger, malnutrition and a degraded environment through better and more resilient agriculture.<\/p>\n<p>We are recruiting to fill the position below:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Job Title: Scientific Officer in Market Development \/ Linkages<br \/>\n<\/strong><br \/>\nDuration: Two years contract, renewable based on funds<\/p>\n<p>J<strong>ob Brief<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The research associate in market development and linkages will work under the supervision of ICRISAT Country Representative.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Job Responsibilities<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Led in profile 4000 to 6000 farmer for NA Di RA<\/li>\n<li>Support the design of selected commodity sectors market development strategy within the context of NADiRA project in Nigeria.<\/li>\n<li>Support marketing activities for selected commodity development hubs in Nigeria.<\/li>\n<li>Support establishment of contracts with potential partners (e.g. market actors), and develop concrete offers for partnership and negotiate agreements between key actors.<\/li>\n<li>Initiate contract farming arrangement between seed companies, seed Out growers. farmers groups, banks, insurance company\u2019s agro-input companies and off-takers based on best practices and trust.<\/li>\n<li>Actively participate in monitoring and evaluation of project implementation<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Minimum Academic\/Professional Qualifications<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Degree in Agricultural Economics \/Agricultural Extension\/Agronomy or related fields, and\/or additional training in Agricultural Market Development\/ Entrepreneurship Development or a related field.<\/li>\n<li>Should have a minimum of 2 years working experience with relevance in agriculture and agribusiness;<\/li>\n<li>Previous experience with private sector and hands on market linkages will be an added advantage;<\/li>\n<li>Strong computer skill (knowledge of 00K is an advantage)<\/li>\n<li>Experience in use of GIS is an advantage<\/li>\n<li>Must be energetic, creative, and willing to learn;<\/li>\n<li>Strong written and verbal communication skills.<\/li>\n<li>Understanding of local languages is an added advantage<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Key Competencies:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Must have previous experience in agribusiness and be willing to spend long periods traveling and staying in rural areas,<\/li>\n<li>Ability to work in a multidisciplinary and multicultural environment.<\/li>\n<li>Computer literacy with proficient knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint applications<\/li>\n<li>Thorough knowledge of Sorghum market development and information systems particularly within Nigeria.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Application Closing Date<\/strong><br \/>\n10th March, 2018.<\/p>\n<section id=\"listing-fields\"><\/section>\n<p><strong>How to Apply<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Interested and qualified candidates should forward their application and CV&#8217;s to:\u00a0<a href=\"mailto:v.idenyi@cgiar.org\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>v.idenyi@cgiar.org<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>International Crops Research Institute for the Semi-Arid Tropics, is a non-profit, non-political organization that conducts agricultural research for development in Asia and sub-Saharan Africa with a wide array of partners&#8230;..<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"om_disable_all_campaigns":false,"jetpack_post_was_ever_published":false,"_jetpack_newsletter_access":"","_jetpack_newsletter_tier_id":0,"footnotes":"","jetpack_publicize_message":"","jetpack_is_tweetstorm":false,"jetpack_publicize_feature_enabled":true,"jetpack_social_post_already_shared":true,"jetpack_social_options":{"image_generator_settings":{"template":"highway","enabled":false}}},"categories":[64],"tags":[],"jetpack_publicize_connections":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v21.5 -
