IITA is a member of CGIAR, a global agriculture research partnership for a food-secure future.<\/p>\n<p>We are recruiting to fill the following positions below in Oyo State:<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Job Title:\u00a0Power House Operator II<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Ref<\/strong>: IITA-HR-NRS2018-004<br \/>\n<strong>Location<\/strong>: Ibadan, Oyo<br \/>\n<strong>Contract<\/strong>: 3-year renewable contract<\/p>\n<p><strong>Duties<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The successful candidate will among other things perform the following duties:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Operate and maintain both mechanical and electrical requirements in powerhouse e.g. generators, high voltage panels, ring main units, tripping units, batteries, high voltage underground cables, high voltage and low voltage circuit breakers.<\/li>\n<li>Receive AGO on behalf of the unit<\/li>\n<li>Assist powerhouse mechanics in carrying out repairs on all mechanical equipment;<\/li>\n<li>Assist in general maintenance of all electrical equipment and installation;<\/li>\n<li>Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Qualifications<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>OND, Trade Test II\/ Artisan Certificate in Electrical Engineering or its equivalent with two (2) years of experience performing similar function.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Competencies<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Good knowledge of powerhouse operations.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Remuneration<\/strong><br \/>\nWe offer highly competitive salary with equally attractive benefits and excellent working conditions in a pleasant campus environment.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Application Deadline\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong>27th March, 2018.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Job Title:\u00a0Manager \u2013 Utility<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Ref<\/strong>: IITA-HR-NRS2018-004<br \/>\n<strong>Location<\/strong>: Ibadan, Oyo<br \/>\n<strong>Contract<\/strong>: 3-year renewable contract<\/p>\n<p><strong>Duties<\/strong><br \/>\nSuccessful candidate will among other things perform the following duties:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Manage overall functions and staff of powerhouse, electrical\/gas and Water treatment sections;<\/li>\n<li>Oversee functioning of main generators and switchgear in campus and ensure they are maintained at peak performance in order to provide backup power within 30 seconds of main power failure at all times;<\/li>\n<li>Monitor operation of high voltage switchgear and changeover switches and repair or replace as needed;<\/li>\n<li>Place order for spare parts or service needed for the generators, switchgear, transformers etc.;<\/li>\n<li>Monitor the incoming high voltage power and overhead power lines in campus and call the electric company to repair or replace damaged power lines or insulators, oversee &amp; verify electricity meter readings every month;<\/li>\n<li>Maintain very good contacts with all officials of the electricity company, especially the emergency call out team;<\/li>\n<li>Supervise the upkeep of all electric appliances, equipment, fixtures in labs, offices and field houses (plastic houses, greenhouses), residences and street lights<\/li>\n<li>Manage the main water supply system including pumps at the main dam and oversee the treatment and purification at the treatment plant;<\/li>\n<li>Oversee working of fire alarm systems in all main buildings<\/li>\n<li>Maintenance of swimming pool and sewage treatment plants;<\/li>\n<li>Prepare periodic report of work done by the sections;<\/li>\n<li>Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.<\/li>\n<p><strong>Qualifications<\/strong>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>M.Sc in Electrical Engineering or its equivalent with a minimum experience of thirteen (13) years performing similar functions in a structured organisation.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Competencies<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Must be familiar with the parts and procedures of different types of heavy generators, alternators, etc.<\/li>\n<li>Applicant must have excellent managerial and supervisory skills to handle the entire units.<\/li>\n<li>Must have good time management and communication skills.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Remuneration<\/strong><br \/>\nWe offer highly competitive salary with equally attractive benefits and excellent working conditions in a pleasant campus environment.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Application Deadline\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong>27th March, 2018.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Job Title:\u00a0Resident Manager, Hospitality and Travel Services<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Ref<\/strong>: DDG-CS\/RM\/HTS\/12\/17<br \/>\n<strong>Location:<\/strong>\u00a0Ibadan, Oyo<br \/>\n<strong><br \/>\nPosition Profile<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The position requires a dynamic and energetic individual who leads by example. A manager who can balance the official needs of the Institutes (workshops, conferences and visitors) with those of the multi-cultural resident community (staff with their families) and national staff while marketing its service to fellow organizations to maintain a zero budget.<\/li>\n<li>Ideally with a strong food and beverage background, the successful individual would be looking for a challenge a little different than the mainstream hotel and hospitality industry.<\/li>\n<li>A demanding and challenging task that can be incredibly rewarding for the right candidate.<\/li>\n<li>There would be an initial period of training and integration with the current manger prior to taking full responsibility for the operation.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Responsibilities<\/strong><br \/>\nThis position reports to the Deputy Director General-Corporate Services. The tasks are as follows:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Manage I-House, Ikeja Guest House, Abuja Guest House, Sports centre, all to international standards.<\/li>\n<li>Manage bookings and the use of the IITA Ibadan Conference Centre.<\/li>\n<li>Oversee canteen operations for 1500 national staff.<\/li>\n<li>Oversee Travel Services.<\/li>\n<li>Continue to enhance revenue generation through effective use of Hospitality and Travel Service facilities.<\/li>\n<li>Ensure effective cost recovery of all operations, and meet the set zero budget targets.<\/li>\n<li>Provide continuous staff training and good customer care.<\/li>\n<li>Lead, recruit, develop and retain staff to deliver services in the most efficient and effective manner.<\/li>\n<li>Plan and manage new acquisitions, maintenance and upgrade of facilities of all IITA guest houses as required.<\/li>\n<li>Initiate energy saving methods.<\/li>\n<li>Ensure delivery of effective client-focused services.<\/li>\n<li>Give professional support to leisure activities on the Ibadan compound and organize social events to enhance the quality of social life on IITA campus.<\/li>\n<li>Develop and market the hospitality operation of the new environmental educational campsite.<\/li>\n<li>Carry out any other duties as may be assigned by management.<\/li>\n<p><strong>Educational Qualifications<\/strong><\/p>\n<li>The candidate should have a post-graduate college diploma or degree in Hospitality, Hotel Management or related field. Any related advanced degree will be an added advantage.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Core Competencies<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Minimum of 5 years proven experience in the hospitality business<\/li>\n<li>Understanding of all hotel management best practices and relevant laws and guidelines.<\/li>\n<li>Knowledge of international travel regulations, customs and currencies.<\/li>\n<li>Solid understanding of hospitality procedure and best practices.<\/li>\n<li>Excellent analytical mind with strong business acumen.<\/li>\n<li>Ability to balance customer and business priorities.<\/li>\n<li>Knowledge of quality standards (e.g. ISO).<\/li>\n<li>Demonstrable aptitude in decision-making and problem-solving.<\/li>\n<li>Reliable with ability to multi-task and work well under pressure.<\/li>\n<li>Outstanding communication (oral and written) and good negotiation skills.<\/li>\n<li>Excellent hands-on experience in customer service or sales management skills.<\/li>\n<li>Good interpersonal, excellent leadership, people management and organizational skills.<\/li>\n<li>Numeracy and logistical planning skills. Great attention to details.<\/li>\n<li>Ability to work effectively in a multi-disciplinary and cross-cultural environment.<\/li>\n<li>Work experience in the hospitality and travel business in Africa is a plus.<\/li>\n<li>Working knowledge of MS Office and relevant software (e-g. ERP); knowledge of hotel management software (PMS) is an advantage.<\/li>\n<li>Fluency in English; knowledge of other languages is a plus.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>General information<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The contract will be for an initial period of three years with possibility of renewal based on performance and availability of funding.
