The non-profit center focuses on increasing and sustaining food and agricultural productivity in developing countries through the development and transfer of effective and environmentally sound crop nutrient technology and agribusiness expertise.<\/p>\n<p>We are recruiting to fill the below position below:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Job Title:\u00a0National Policy Economist, Seconded to ECOWAS<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Tracking Code:<\/strong> 20120364<br \/>\n<strong>Location<\/strong>: Abuja<br \/>\n<strong>Type of Contract<\/strong>: Regular Staff<br \/>\n<strong>Duration<\/strong>: One Year Renewable<br \/>\n<strong>Anticipated Start Date<\/strong>: 30th March, 2018<br \/>\n<strong>Program<\/strong>: USAID EnGRAIS<\/p>\n<p><strong>Job Description<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>IFDC North and West Africa is seeking to recruit a National Policy Economist for its program \u201cEnhancing Growth through Regional Agricultural Input Systems (EnGRAIS)\u201d to be implemented in the West Africa sub-region.<\/li>\n<li>The National Policy Economist will be seconded to ECOWAS and will be responsible for liaising with ECOWAS and other regional institutions to support the implementation of the EnGRAIS program.<\/li>\n<li>The National Policy Economist seconded to ECOWAS will be supervised by and report to the program\u2019s CoP.<\/li>\n<li>He\/she may also be called to perform other duties assigned by the CoP as deemed necessary to support the achievement of the program\u2019s overall objective.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Duties and Responsibilities<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Liaise with ECOWAS officials, particularly in the Agriculture Department, regarding regional initiatives and issues related to the agricultural inputs and particularly fertilizer sector.<\/li>\n<li>Provide at least monthly updates on all ECOWAS activities related to USAID\/IFDC ongoing work and current and potential initiatives; and<\/li>\n<li>Perform other tasks as assigned by the COP of EnGRAIS or his designee.<\/li>\n<li>Facilitate ECOWAS\/IFDC coordination on planned fora, meetings, initiatives and implementation.<\/li>\n<li>Advocate, as appropriate and needed, on behalf of USAID\/IFDC initiatives;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Requirements\/Skills<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Excellent oral and written communication skills in both English and French<\/li>\n<li>Competence in the use of computers and MS Office software<\/li>\n<li>Ability and availability to travel to other countries as required.<\/li>\n<li>Demonstrated ethics, integrity and sound judgment;<\/li>\n<li>Strong organizational skills and ability to work with staff and counterparts from different countries and cultural backgrounds<\/li>\n<li>Ability to work independently with little or no supervision<\/li>\n<li>Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines<\/li>\n<li>A Master\u2019s degree in Agricultural Policy, Agricultural Economics, Economics or a related field.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Required Experience<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>At least five years of professional work experience, preferably in agricultural policy with government or international donor-funded projects\/programs in the areas of fertilizer, food security.<\/li>\n<li>Work experience in ECOWAS Member States (required) and with regional institutions (preferred).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Deliverables<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Monthly reports\/briefs on discussions and facilitation with ECOWAS relevant departments including recommendations to be considered by the program\u2019s management team.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>How to Apply<\/strong><br \/>\nInterested and qualified candidates should:<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/ifdc-hr.silkroad.com\/epostings\/index.cfm?fuseaction=app.dspjob&amp;jobid=431&amp;company_id=16193&amp;version=1&amp;jobBoardId=3345\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Click here to apply<\/strong><\/a><br \/>\nOr<br \/>\nCandidates can however also apply by e-mail to be sent to:\u00a0<a href=\"mailto:ifdcnigeria@ifdc.org\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>ifdcnigeria@ifdc.org<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0during the same timeframe.
