International Medical Corps rehabilitates devastated health care systems and helps bring them back to self-reliance.<\/p>\n<p>International Medical Corps has been operating in Nigeria since November 2013, and currently has projects in two States (Kano and Borno). In Borno, International Medical Corps has been actively implementing interventions to support vulnerable populations recently affected by conflict and displacement due to insurgency.<\/p>\n<p>We are recruiting to fill the position below:<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Job Title:\u00a0\u00a0KAP Survey Consultant \u2013 Nutrition<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Location<\/strong>: Nigeria<br \/>\n<strong><br \/>\nProgram Background<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>International Medical Corps (IMC) Nigeria has been implementing the program (Expanded response to the emergency needs of IDPs and host communities in newly accessible areas in Borno, North East Nigeria), funded by U.S. Office of Foreign Disaster Assistance.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Main objectives of the program are to<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Improve IDPs and host communities\u2019 access to quality nutrition services, Improve IDPs and host communities\u2019 access to safe water, improved sanitation facilities and improved hygiene practices.<\/li>\n<li>This is with overall goal of addressing the urgent needs for nutrition and Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) for IDPs and host communities in Damboa and Dikwa local government areas.<\/li>\n<li>IMC aims to improve the health status and living conditions of the target population through activities such as treatment of severely malnourished children through outpatient treatment program (OTPs) and in-patient treatment centre (SC), nutrition counselling, education and dialogue sessions on positive\u00a0 infant and young child feeding practices through a platform of care group women support for all pregnant and lactating women of children aged 0-23 months and community leaders dialogue, capacity building through training and on the job mentorship for CNVs, nutrition technical staff and PLW, Household and MASS MUAC screening for all children aged 6-59 months to identify malnutrition and timely refer for care.<\/li>\n<li>All these activities are directly integrated within IMC WASH and Food security sectors, whilst indirectly in some locations with other partners NGOs implementing WASH and FS.<\/li>\n<li>Under this project, IMC is to conduct a KAP Survey to assess the knowledge and practises of the people in charge of the households regarding nutrition practices during pregnancy and the first 2 years of life for the infants, as well as the nutrition-related health practices such hygiene and sanitation at household level.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Objective of the Survey<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>To determine mothers\/caretaker\u2019s knowledge and caring practice regarding infant and young child feeding (among pregnant and lactating mother of children aged 0-23 months).<\/li>\n<li>To provide additional qualitative information on the likely causes of malnutrition and barriers to optimal infant and young child feeding nutrition practices (E.g. through focus group discussions).<\/li>\n<li>formulate and provide practical and sustainable recommendations to strengthen the nutrition activities based on the survey findings.<\/li>\n<li>To assess the community\u2019s knowledge, attitude, practice and beliefs regarding water, sanitation and hygiene<\/li>\n<li>Overall to ascertain impact of nutrition and WASH activities in relation positive IYCF, hygiene and sanitation interventions for the last 6months and set and set new baseline for anticipated phase two of OFDA\/USAID funded program in Damboa and Dikwa local government areas.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Deliverables<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Present the design, implementation and supervision strategy of the KAP survey. (phone tree)<\/li>\n<li>Collaborate with local agencies to aid with security management<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Actively promote PSEA (Prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse) standards within International Medical Corps and amongst beneficiaries served by International Medical Corps.<\/li>\n<li>Other duties as assigned.
