The finance Director is responsible for the\u00a0formulation\u00a0of\u00a0financial strategies\u00a0and the coordination of plans, budgets and initiatives so that Group business objectives are met, and to lead the development of Corporate Governance policies and compliance.<\/p>\n
He will also be responsible for efficient management of the accounting, reporting, treasury, insurance, taxation, information technology and systems and internal control functions for the Company.<\/p>\n
The Financial Director will report to the Managing Director<\/p>\n
The Financial Director is a member of the Board and of the executive Committee.<\/p>\n
The position is based in Lagos \u2013 Nigeria<\/p>\n
Responsibilities<\/h2>\n
Board member role<\/strong><\/p>\n\n- Active member of the Board of Directors responsible for\u00a0formulation\u00a0of strategy and policies that direct the affairs of the company<\/li>\n
- Act as a nominee of Management and the Board of Directors on the Company\u2019s Corporate Audit Committee and help with the process for the review of the financial position of the Company.<\/li>\n
- Act as a nominee of Management and the Board of Directors responsible for allfinance and Information Technology\u00a0related presentations.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
Finance and Accounting:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n- Provide and\/or oversee the global administration of the company \u2018s financial activities.<\/li>\n
- Participate actively in the strategic planning process of the business and initiate and control the process for the preparation of budgets forecast.<\/li>\n
- Responsible for budget and plans realization, update and follow ups<\/li>\n
- Ensure the accuracy, completeness, integrity and reliability of all financial information and meeting the deadlines.<\/li>\n
- Developing and implementing financial business system. Acts in the role of Mega Process Owner for Key financial system.<\/li>\n
- Coordinate group planning process and issue of budget guidelines<\/li>\n
- Track profit and cash flow performance<\/li>\n
- Create Best Practice network<\/li>\n
- Select, recruit, train and retain skilled and competent\u00a0staff\u00a0with focus on strong succession planning.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
Corporate Governance policies and overall compliance, Audit:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n- In charge of relationship with<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
\n- Local\u00a0Financial Services market,\u00a0insurance brokers, insurance companies.<\/li>\n
- All financial corporate and official bodies.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
\n- Working through Head of Internal Audit, develop best-practice Corporate Governance standards, etc<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
\n- Track compliance with Group and Corporate Governance policies,<\/li>\n
- Drive effective Audit function, including External audit, internal audit.<\/li>\n
- Develop Best Practices in Risk-Based Internal Auditing<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
Treasury, IT and Risk policies:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n- Responsible for Bank accounts and Cash management, Tax & Capex procedures.<\/li>\n
- Ensure appropriate financial risk, accounting and auditing policies and procedures of the Company.<\/li>\n
- Handling overall Taxation matters, Statutory Audits, Internal Audit, Company Law & other<\/li>\n
- Oversee the treasury function to ensure cash flow for the business is secured.\u00a0 Act to minimize the financial risk profile of the Company by ensuring that interest and\u00a0foreign currency risks\u00a0are well managed and in line with the Group standards.<\/li>\n
- Develop Optimized Capital Structures (Debt\/Equity Ratios) for the various businesses and develop plans to achieve<\/li>\n
- Manage the debt of the company to minimize borrowing costs.<\/li>\n
- Initiate Treasury policies, including compliance with tax regulations,<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
\n- Legal matters finalization of accounts & Audit.<\/li>\n
- Participate actively in the preparation and review of all contracts, agreements and other legal documents to minimize the Company\u2019s exposure to financial risk.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
\n- Initiate IT policies, including Network Support and ERP systems,<\/li>\n
- Develop \u201cAll Hazards\u201d approach to Managing Operational Risks<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
Investment & business development:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n- Evaluate investment prospects and their tax consequences,<\/li>\n
- Financial feasibilities and due diligence of proposed JV arrangements,<\/li>\n
- Tax and financial planning (and related corporate structure).<\/li>\n
- Maintain contact and sustain network in the local\u00a0financial services market\u00a0i.e. bankers, investment &\u00a0portfolio managers,\u00a0insurance brokers, insurance companies, pension advisers etc.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
