Our mission is to provide aid as quickly and as efficiently as possible to endangered populations by meeting their vital needs:\u00a0 water, food and shelter.<\/p>\n<p>SI has started activities in North-eastern Nigeria in August 2016 in the fields of Wash and is now intervening in 4 areas of the state for Wash and Shelter activities.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Job Title: Shelter Officer<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Beginning of contract<\/strong>: 11\/4\/2018<\/p>\n<p><strong>Contract duration:<\/strong>\u00a03 months\u2013 Probation period: 1 month<\/p>\n<p><strong>Delocalization policy:<\/strong>\u00a0applicable, according to SI conditions<\/p>\n<p><strong>Salary and conditions<\/strong>: in accordance with SI\u2019s Terms of Employment; for national staff in Nigeria<\/p>\n<p><strong>Job Description<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>MISSION<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Objectives<\/strong>:<br \/>\nUnder the supervision of the Watsan Team Leader and in functional link with the Shelter advisor Assistant, the shelter Officer will lead and supervise shelter work projects, respecting deadlines and technical requirements.<\/p>\n<p><strong>LIST OF MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Set-up and operational monitoring<\/li>\n<li>Under the supervision of the Watsan Team Leader, take part in the logistical and administrative organization and the planning and preparation of job sites<\/li>\n<li>Ensure the construction and\/or the maintenance of construction work using Solidarit\u00e9s International tools (in particular):<\/li>\n<li>Take part in the identification of sites where work is to be carried out<\/li>\n<li>Recruit and train the workforce (carpenters, mason, \u2026) and daily workers<\/li>\n<li>Control the quality\/quantity of the materials arriving in the construction site<\/li>\n<li>Be in charge of given the materials to the IDPs<\/li>\n<li>Allocate the on-site workforce according to instructions given by the team leader or Shelter advisor assistant<\/li>\n<li>Carry out work according to technical guidelines and estimates and follow the recommendation of the Shelter Coordinator or Shelter advisor assistant.<\/li>\n<li>Controls the quality of the implementation<\/li>\n<li>Respect deadlines established with his\/her supervisor or project manager<\/li>\n<li>Supervise operational teams, contractors and communities, and ensure the best use of available resources<\/li>\n<li>Organize, plan and supervise community participation<\/li>\n<li>Anticipate any problems associated with the management of his\/her activity and propose solutions to avoid them<\/li>\n<li>Manage the supply of worksite materials by collaborating with the logistics department<\/li>\n<li>Report to the project manager and\/or program manager assistant on the state of decentralized stock (\u2018field\u2019 stock) on his\/her sites.<\/li>\n<li>Take part to the evaluation of the technical competence of contractors<\/li>\n<li>Respect Solidarit\u00e9s administrative procedures before, during and after each work project<\/li>\n<li>Establish safety and security measures for each activity and ensure that these rules are respected by the workforce under his\/ her supervision and by the population<\/li>\n<li>Reporting\/communication \/representation<\/li>\n<li>Fill and send daily report to the Watsan Team leader ,<\/li>\n<li>Fill and send concrete test report, and quality check report<\/li>\n<li>Fill and send monitoring report<\/li>\n<li>Keep his\/her monitoring tools and files archived in the Solidarit\u00e9s office, accessible to his\/her team leader and\/or project manager<\/li>\n<li>Take part in the drafting of project progress reports under the supervision of his\/her team leader<\/li>\n<li>Take part in seminars and workshops related to the carrying-out of activities and to project objectives<\/li>\n<li>Report to his supervisor regarding the development of activities and specific tasks that he\/she has been assigned, any problems encountered and the quality of relations with the beneficiaries<\/li>\n<li>Report back all information or problems linked to his\/her activity, Solidarit\u00e9s programs or safety issues<\/li>\n<li>Listen to the local population and authorities in order to identify any needs, complaints, or major events which could affect the activities of Solidarit\u00e9s<\/li>\n<li>Analyze the humanitarian situation by taking into account protection issues\/Do No Harm to the population<\/li>\n<li>Collaborate with local authorities and administration<\/li>\n<li>Take part in restitution meetings and clusters on request<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Personal abilities :<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Professional experience:<\/strong>\u00a06 months\u00a0 of experience in similar position (NGO\/Private or Public sector)<\/p>\n<p><strong>Languages<\/strong>: English, Kanori, Haussa, Shua (additional languages a plus)<\/p>\n<p><strong>Personal qualities:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Teamworking skills<\/li>\n<li>Good time management skills<\/li>\n<li>Good communication skills<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Technical competencies :<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Good knowledge of planning, implementing and evaluating shelters project<\/p>\n<p><strong>IT skills:<\/strong>\u00a0EXCEL, WORD, OUTLOOK, AUTOCAD\u2026<\/p>\n<section id=\"listing-fields\"><\/section>\n<p><strong>How to Apply<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Please submit your application ( with CV, cover letter, references in one single file) only by E-mail at\u00a0<strong>hr.coo@solidarites-nigeria.org<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The file must be named with your name and surname.
