In doing so, UN Member States took an historic step in accelerating the Organization\u2019s goals on gender equality and the empowerment of women. The creation of UN Women came about as part of the UN reform agenda, bringing together resources and mandates for greater impact. It merges and builds on the important work of four previously distinct parts of the UN system, which focused exclusively on gender equality and women\u2019s empowerment.<\/p>\n<p>We are recruiting to fill the position below:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Job Title: Driver<br \/>\nPost Level:<\/strong> SB-2<br \/>\n<strong>Starting Date:<\/strong> 2nd July, 2018.<br \/>\n<strong>Type of Contract:<\/strong> Service Contract<br \/>\n<strong>Contract Duration:<\/strong> Initial duration of one year<br \/>\n<strong>Expected Duration of Assignment:<\/strong> One Year<br \/>\n<strong><br \/>\nDuties and Responsibilities<\/strong><br \/>\nProvide reliable and secure driving services:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Drive office vehicles for the transport of authorized personnel;<\/li>\n<li>Deliver and collect mail, documents and other items to Government \u2013 Offices\/Embassies\/Commercial Establishments\/ UN Offices;<\/li>\n<li>Meet official personnel and visitors at the airport, including visa and customs formalities arrangements when required;<\/li>\n<li>Verify that all passengers wear seatbelts at all times in the vehicle;<\/li>\n<li>Ensure all immediate actions required by rules and regulations are taken in case of involvement in accidents;<\/li>\n<li>Ensure vehicle comply with the Minimum Operating Security Standards (MOSS).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Provide proper use of vehicle:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Ensure cost-saving by driving responsibly;<\/li>\n<li>Maintain daily vehicle logs, daily mileage, gas consumption, oil change, servicing, greasing, repairs;<\/li>\n<li>Provide inputs to preparation of the vehicle maintenance plans and reports.<\/li>\n<li>Provide day to day maintenance of the assigned vehicle:<\/li>\n<li>Ensure that the official vehicle is kept clean and is always in good working condition;<\/li>\n<li>Make minor repairs and make arrangements for major repairs;<\/li>\n<li>Change oil, check tires, lights horn, clutch and brakes and wash car regularly;<\/li>\n<li>Ensure that vehicles comply with Minimum Operating Security Standards (MOSS).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Maintain and ensure availability of all required documents\/supplies:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Maintain and ensure availability of all required documents\/supplies including vehicle insurance, vehicle logs, office directory, and map of the city\/country, first aid kit, and necessary spare parts in the assigned vehicle;<\/li>\n<li>Ensure that all immediate actions required by rules and regulations are taken in case of involvement in accidents.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Provide general administrative and logistic support as needed:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Assist office staff in filing, photocopying and maintaining required records;<\/li>\n<li>Assist in the mailing and distribution of publications and payments of bills, as required.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Key Performance Indicators<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Quality and timely driving services; safe and on-time;<\/li>\n<li>Quality care and maintenance of vehicle;<\/li>\n<li>Timely inputs to logs and records.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Required Skills and Experience<\/strong><br \/>\nEducation \/ Certification:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Secondary Education; a valid driver\u2019s license, and knowledge of local driving rules and regulations;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Experience:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>At least 3-5 years of experience as a driver in an international organization, embassy or UN system;<\/li>\n<li>Experience driving high profile dignitaries;<\/li>\n<li>History of a safe driving record;<\/li>\n<li>Experience driving a 4X4 vehicles in rough terrain.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Competencies<\/strong><br \/>\nCore Competencies:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Awareness and Sensitivity Regarding Gender Issues;<\/li>\n<li>Accountability;<\/li>\n<li>Creative Problem Solving;<\/li>\n<li>Effective Communication;<\/li>\n<li>Inclusive Collaboration;<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0Stakeholder Engagement;<\/li>\n<li>Leading by Example.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Functional Competencies:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Excellent driving skills;<\/li>\n<li>Good knowledge of driving rules and regulations, local roads and conditions;<\/li>\n<li>Good defensive driving skills;<\/li>\n<li>Skills in minor vehicle repairs;<\/li>\n<li>Ability to be on time.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Application Closing Date<\/strong><br \/>\n25th May, 2018.<\/p>\n<section id=\"listing-fields\"><\/section>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>UN Women \u2013 In July 2010, the United Nations General Assembly created UN Women, the United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women.
