We operate in the Caspian, Middle East, West Africa and subsea markets with a fleet of over 100 vessels and a team of over 1800 people.<\/p>\n<p>Nigeria- together with our local partners Team Offshore Nigeria Limited, Topaz has been building its presence in Nigeria, where a large part of our West African fleet operates from a base in Onne. Our global experience and systems, combined with local knowledge and expertise are proving integral in supporting national players and major IOCs in developing the country\u2019s natural resources.<\/p>\n<p>We are recruiting to fill the position below:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Job Title: Technical Superintendent<br \/>\nLocation:<\/strong>\u00a0Nigeria<br \/>\n<strong>Department:<\/strong> Technical<br \/>\n<strong>Direct Reporting Line:<\/strong> Fleet Superintendent<\/p>\n<p><strong>Job Purpose<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>To\u00a0 support\u00a0 and\u00a0 manage,\u00a0 in\u00a0 the\u00a0 most\u00a0 cost-effective and\u00a0 efficient\u00a0 way,\u00a0 the\u00a0 repairs,\u00a0 maintenance\u00a0 and general upkeep of the assigned fleet, as per class and flag\u00a0 state requirement<\/li>\n<li>Responsible for providing maintenance support in a port or offshore setting and will\u00a0oversee completing breakdown\u00a0 and\/ or defects and managing a\u00a0 group of third party service suppliers.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Key Accountabilities<\/strong><br \/>\nQHSSE:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Participate in and provide input to HSE related meetings and inspections.<\/li>\n<li>Promote the Company\u2019s Control of Work processes and safe working practices.<\/li>\n<li>Actively partake in safety meetings, to encourage constructive discussion and to drive engagement.<\/li>\n<li>Assist in the investigation of incidents, as directed<\/li>\n<li>Ensure that all company policies and procedures are adhered to<\/li>\n<li>Demonstrate Safety Leadership to all Operations and Vessels Personnel<\/li>\n<li>Actively engage with all employees on HSE related issues.<\/li>\n<li>Promote open dialogue\u00a0between all employees\u00a0and departments on\u00a0means to\u00a0drive and improve\u00a0 safety performance.<\/li>\n<li>Provide a link between Fleet Superintendent and ship-based management concerning safety and pollution prevention<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Technical:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Be the first point of contact for on board staff, including the identification of possible engineering flaws and strive to fix them or delegate tasks in a timely manner<\/li>\n<li>Complete (un)planned maintenance tasks on a regular basis and follow specific maritime protocols<\/li>\n<li>Perform technical inspections of vessels during port call for repair &amp; maintenance standards and procedures<\/li>\n<li>Coordinate repair and maintenance functions for assigned fleet to minimize loss of revenue and cost of repairs<\/li>\n<li>Assist with the preparation of repair and dry dock specs along with Technical Supt, Master and Chief Engineer of the vessel.<\/li>\n<li>Liaise with contractors during repairs and dry docking with close communication to Shared Service Technical Dept.<\/li>\n<li>Run\u00a0 frequent\u00a0 tests\u00a0 inspections\u00a0 of\u00a0 the\u00a0 condition\u00a0 of\u00a0 machinery and\u00a0 equipment\u00a0 on\u00a0 the\u00a0 vessels\u00a0 to\u00a0 ensure maintenance and repair meet company requirements<\/li>\n<li>Inspect machinery, equipment or spaces outlined in work request, draw up job specifications and obtain bids from contractors or shipyards to perform repairs<\/li>\n<li>Maintain contact with contractors to ensure completion of work at minimum cost<\/li>\n<li>Conduct thorough technical interviews of engineering officer candidates, selecting suitable crew for assigned vessels<\/li>\n<li>Closely\u00a0 monitor\u00a0 the\u00a0 performance of\u00a0 the\u00a0 engineering\u00a0 team\u00a0 on board,\u00a0 completing\u00a0 regular\u00a0 performance appraisals for the Chief Engineers<\/li>\n<li>Highlight\u00a0 any\u00a0 high\u00a0 potential\u00a0 candidates\u00a0 or\u00a0 underperforming\u00a0 crew\u00a0 to\u00a0 the\u00a0 Fleet\u00a0 Superintendent\u00a0 so\u00a0 that competence\/performance issues can be addressed in accordance with Company procedures<\/li>\n<li>Review repair request and compare request with previous work accomplished on ship concerned and similar vessels to determine that expenditures are economically sound<\/li>\n<li>Attend to vessels during port calls, ensuring the proper allocation of available resources to complete technical work lists\/defect report list<\/li>\n<li>Ensure the timely correction of all technical defects reported by all vessels and providing ship\u2019s crew with shore assistance as required<\/li>\n<li>Keep track of the technical administration received from the vessels as directed<\/li>\n<li>Ensure\u00a0 that\u00a0 the\u00a0 planned\u00a0 maintenance\u00a0 system\u00a0 is\u00a0 relevant\u00a0 and\u00a0 up\u00a0 to\u00a0 date\u00a0 on\u00a0 all\u00a0 assigned\u00a0 vessels,\u00a0 as\u00a0 per Company requirements.<\/li>\n<li>Attend all classification\/client surveys including rectification of any recommendations and\/or deficiencies as a result of the above surveys within the given time frame<\/li>\n<li>Act as first point of contact for port call maintenance &amp; repair.<\/li>\n<li>Engage in hands on repairs and improvement projects<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Reporting:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Interface\u00a0 with\u00a0 ship\u2019s\u00a0 crew\u00a0 daily\u00a0 to\u00a0 discuss\u00a0 shortfalls\u00a0 and insufficiencies\u00a0 related\u00a0 to\u00a0 the\u00a0 Ships\u00a0 Planned<\/li>\n<li>Maintenance System and validate new work orders<\/li>\n<li>Monitor all engineering work in progress for planned and<\/li>\n<li>unplanned maintenance and repairs for all allocated vessels<\/li>\n<li>Cooperate directly with the Port Captain and Operations personnel regarding the day today maintenance and repairs of the vessels<\/li>\n<li>Maintain records of engineering costs for each vessel, such as repairs, supplies, and personnel<\/li>\n<li>Actively\u00a0 involved\u00a0 in\u00a0 the\u00a0 Dry\u00a0 Dock\u00a0 preparation\u00a0 with\u00a0 close\u00a0 cooperation\u00a0 with\u00a0 Shared\u00a0 Service\u00a0 Technical Department.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Qualifications, Experience &amp;
