Our mission is to provide aid as quickly and as efficiently as possible to endangered populations by meeting their vital needs: water, food and shelter.<\/p>\n<p>SI has started activities in North-eastern Nigeria in August 2016 in the fields of Wash and is now intervening in 4 areas of the state for Wash and Shelter activities.<\/p>\n<p>We are recruiting to fill the position below:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Job Title:\u00a0Water and Sanitation Officer<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Location:<\/strong>\u00a0Ngala, Borno<br \/>\n<strong>Beginning of Contract:<\/strong> ASAP \u2013 02 August 2018<br \/>\n<strong>Contract Duration:<\/strong> Until 1st November, 2019 (with the possibility of extension) \u2013 Probation Period: 01 month<br \/>\n<strong>Slots:<\/strong> 3<\/p>\n<p><strong>Mission\/Objectives<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Under the supervision of the Watsan team leader, the Water and Sanitation Officer will lead and supervise work projects, respecting deadlines and technical requirements<\/li>\n<li>The Water and Sanitation Officer will be in charge of supervising the implementation of borehole drilling and borehole rehabilitations in the host community and IDP camps<\/li>\n<li>The Water and Sanitation Officer is also in charge of supervising the construction of Block of emergency latrine and shower and household latrines.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Main Task<\/strong><br \/>\nSet-up and Operational Monitoring:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Under the supervision of the WATSAN TEAM LEADER, take part in logistical and administrative organization and the planning and preparation of job sites<\/li>\n<li>Ensure the construction and\/or the maintenance of construction work using Solidarit\u00e9s International tools (in particular):\n<ul>\n<li>Take part in the identification of sites where work is to be carried out<\/li>\n<li>Recruit and train the workforce and daily workers<\/li>\n<li>Allocate the on-site workforce according to instructions given by the team leader<\/li>\n<li>Carry out work according to technical guidelines and estimates<\/li>\n<li>Respect deadlines established with his\/her line manager<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Supervise operational teams, contractors and\/or communities, and ensure the best use of available resources<\/li>\n<li>Organize, plan and supervise community participation<\/li>\n<li>Anticipate any problems associated with the management of his\/her activity and propose solutions to avoid them<\/li>\n<li>Manage the supply of worksite materials by collaborating with the logistics department<\/li>\n<li>Report to the project manager and\/or team leader on the state of decentralized stock (\u2018field\u2019 stock) on his\/her sites.<\/li>\n<li>Take part to the evaluation of the technical competence of contractors<\/li>\n<li>Respect Solidarit\u00e9s administrative procedures before, during and after each work project<\/li>\n<li>Establish safety and security measures for each activity and ensure that these rules are respected by the workforce under his\/ her supervision and by the population.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Reporting\/Communication\/Representation:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Keep his\/her monitoring tools and files archived in the Solidarit\u00e9s office, accessible to his\/her team leader and\/or project manager<\/li>\n<li>Take part in the drafting of project progress reports under the supervision of his\/her team leader<\/li>\n<li>Take part in seminars and workshops related to the carrying-out of activities and to project objectives<\/li>\n<li>Report to the team leader regarding the development of activities and specific tasks that he\/she has been assigned, any problems encountered and the quality of relations with the beneficiaries<\/li>\n<li>Report back all information or problems linked to his\/her activity, Solidarit\u00e9s programs or safety issues<\/li>\n<li>Listen to the local population and authorities in order to identify any needs, complaints, or major events which could affect the activities of Solidarit\u00e9s<\/li>\n<li>Analyze the humanitarian situation by taking into account protection issues\/Do No Harm to the population<\/li>\n<li>Collaborate with local authorities and administration<\/li>\n<li>Take part in restitution meetings and clusters on request<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Reporting and Functional Relationships<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Line manager: Watsan team leader<\/li>\n<li>Line report(s) on base<\/li>\n<li>Functional manager: WASH Program Manager<\/li>\n<li>Functional report(s)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Technical Competences<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Training: University Degree in Water Resources or Civil Engineering or in one of the disciplines of Water Supply and\/or Hydrology<\/li>\n<li>Project related skills: good knowledge of the project cycle, project implementation, project follow-up<\/li>\n<li>Microsoft Office ( Excel and Word skills), GIS and drawing software (autocad)<\/li>\n<li>Management related skills.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Personal Abilities:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Professional experience: 6 months of experience in similar position (NGO\/Private or Public sector)<\/li>\n<li>Languages: English, Kanori, Haussa,<\/li>\n<li>Personal qualities: reliable, honest, very good organization, resistance to stress, good interpersonal skills (communication), team player.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Salary and Description<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The Watsan Team Leader will coordinate a team of Water and Sanitation officer in order to set up the Water and Sanitation activities, ensuring that Solidarit\u00e9s International technical recommendations and procedures are followed.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Main Task<\/strong><br \/>\nSetting up the Activities \/Control and Supervision:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Plan the weekly activities for his\/her team and have them approved by his\/her Line manager:\n<ul>\n<li>Plan human resources needs (daily workers, workers\u2026)<\/li>\n<li>Plan tool and material needs (request from stock)<\/li>\n<li>Anticipate administrative issues (requests in advance)<\/li>\n<li>Anticipate logistics issues (transport, communication means\u2026)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Organize and carry out, with his\/her team, tasks assigned by his\/her Line manager<\/li>\n<li>Supervise and monitor each stage of activity.
